One Thing Fixed, Still Need Another!
ANet are fine with night capping, read their posts. After all, this IS subjective, as some people (especially those who benefit from it) do like the idea. I guess we have to wait for it to turn into diaster, then ANet will listen.
I would like to at least hear why dynamic capping isn’t in place, as it seems to make sense.
Because it penalizes players for factors outside their control. And it allows for griefing. Once you control the majority of a map you can bring your presence in the zone down to 2-3 people and if the enemy is forced down to the same size they cannot take anything else than supply camps and barely that essentially locking the zone.

Dynamic capping would still have a minimum cap. In addition to that, I do not believe you would succeed in keeping your server from joining WvWvW while winning.
So you are all in favour of increasing queue times.
I mean hey, it doesn’t affect you so why not?
If you read Mike Ferguson’s post you will see that they don’t like it when people have to queue and really hate it when people can’t get in at all. So any suggestion that will increase queue times, regardless of when, is likely to be thrown in the bin where it belongs.
Just like having population caps at all were “thrown in the bin where it belongs”? Sometimes, doing what’s best for the game is more important than doing what’s best for the player. In this case, having a dynamic population cap instead of the current static one would be very effective in encouraging players to spread out. In addition to this, it would slow the bleeding known as server demoralization giving them a chance to rally back and fight.
But then again, I’m on HoD so what do I know about server demoralization.
If people don’t like long queues, they should arrange to transfer to a low population server and start fresh there. A large guild changing server could very easily help a smaller server start winning in WvWvW and make a name for themselves, instead of staying on the winning servers and wait hours in the queue.
If you’re on the big servers, you are making the conscious choice to deal with the queue. You could transfer off. It’s free. The only reason you don’t is that you’d be giving up your easy wins and nightcapping if you did. Ergo, it’s your own problem.
A dynamic cap would even the odds and make things fair.
Furthermore, as noted by someone else, yes, you could certainly withdraw your entire guild or alliance from WvWvW once you win so that the opponents are locked to lesser amounts of people… except that you can’t keep your entire server from queueing, and if you’re winning, more people will queue in the first place. So it won’t matter.
Except they’re one and the same in this case.. Players are already angry about queue times – much more so than night capping. People are already leaving over it. And you want to make it worse? You may think that less players would make the game better, but Anet certainly wouldn’t think so.
80 Thief: WvW role = Scorpion wire trolling
I dunno, it sounds nice, but I think it might frustrate a lot of folks if their server has a lot of WvW’ers and one of the servers in their grouping doesn’t because they have far more PvE’ers.

Anet is attempting to coddle people who transfer to the winning servers and then demand shorter queues.
Instead, Anet should be promoting the idea of transfering to servers without queues and starting fresh there, as a way to spread the WvWvW players across ALL servers, instead of on specific servers.
If people did that, it would solve the queue issues entirely.
Instead they want to stay on the winning servers and complain.
Really, it’s their own fault they have to deal with a queue.
Tons of servers don’t have queues yet. People need to transfer.
