What steps are being made to even out WvW matches for servers with lower population or lower than average WvW participation? Do we just continue to get slaughtered, or do we jump to a WvW server and get stuck in ques? Being camped in WvW spawns are not a fun experience, and I hope someone in there agrees.

Never understood how people get “camped” in any mmo.

People are crying in team chat they are being camped all the time 2 mins after I left the spawn right by all the enemies. 2-3 will chase but they will give up quickly to return to the spawn when they don’t get you down fast.

Reminds me of this one time in WoW when we were waiting for a priest in BWL cause she kept dying on the way there. after 45 mins of waiting shes all giddy in vent and yells “haha I mced that guy into the lava”. I was sokitten off we had been waiting almost an hour there and she says that, I mean run into the instacne and stop wasting our time you female dog.

That’s what people remind me of when they say they are being camped, they aren’t being camped they just leave and try and fight the people out front rather than taking a diff exit and going around them.

Well, I used the term camped because we are stuck in the spawn regardless of which direction we exit. The shear numbers of players on usually one of the other servers is enough to fend off attacks from every angle. Currently I have only noticed that a zerge to one of the first outposts works. Shortly after, that zerg is mopped up due to shear numbers.

I know you can sit here and talk strategy or tactics all day. That is a typical subject when it comes to arrogance. Problem is simply shear numbers. Those of us stuck on the servers where there is no que, because of lack of numbers, simply just want to be able to have fun as well.

I think they will balance the numbers of players on world vs world but only when transfers are no longuer free.
When they balance the servers with no queues will win to those with big queues and they will pay to get to the lowers servers.

It’s going to be like this for a while until they have enough info to put servers of equal stature against each other and turn off free transfers.

They can also help low pop realms with a bigger outmanned buff (which is currently useless).

Right now, there are free transfers because the game’s new and the Devs want people to be able to find a server they like and stay there, or to meet up with their friends. Since the 24h limit was put in, at least from my perspective on Emhry, it seems like there’s a lot less “let’s flee this server like rats from a sinking ship” the minute the server starts doing badly. This will become even less of a problem when server transfers cost gems. If someone wants to waste the equivalent of $10 US on a server transfer for WvW, let them, they’ll be a small minority.

The unbalance further stems from the matchmaking system and the fact that the game’s brand new. Simply put, some servers will always be better in WvW than others, whether it’s because of population, Guilds, etc. The matchmaking system is intended to put similarly-ranked servers against each other. The problem is that there’s currently not enough data to accurately represent those rankings, especially because of the massive server migrations I mentioned previously.

Give it a few more matches now that there’s a time limit on transfers. Once the matchmaking system gets enough data to accurately place servers against one another, you’ll see the amount of one-sided WTFPWNing dissipate very quickly. I’m on Emhry right now, and we were beating Fergusson’s Crossing and Borlis Pass very badly last round, this round we’re up against Tarnished Coast and Maguuma and just barely holding our own in a balanced, 3-sided fight. Just have to give it time.
