This is a hypothetical scenario and is not in reference to any new or formerly existing feature(s) of the game. I am wondering what the effectiveness of having 2% higher stats is in WvW.

Let us assume we had two sides in battle. If the stronger side dealt 2% more damage than the weaker side, given all else to be equal, that means that the stronger side would take 98%(1/1.02) of the time to defeat the weaker than it would take the weaker to defeat the stronger.

Let us assume that the stronger team also had 2% more health. The stronger would defeat the weaker in 96%((1/1.02/)1.02) of the time.

Let us continue:
add 2% crit chance(94%)
add 2% crit damage(92%)
add 2% damage mitigation(91%)
add 2% buff duration(89%)
add 2% debuff duration(87%)
add 2% health regeneration(85%)

Conclusion: The stronger side with a 2% stat increase is 18%(1/0.85) more difficult to defeat than a weaker side without any increase.

The nerf to AoE is far, far more significant then any gear issue ever will be.

Considering the fact that i (and many others) suffer since release from the bug that excludes me from receiving any world bonuses (minus 2-15% stats and gathering, increasing the later the week goes), the 2% is just not an major issue, in my personal opinion.

you’re talking about the ascended gear? or the stats bonus bug?

if its about the ascended gear….

ill also point out that 2% is one extra person in a zerg of 50. organization and coordination has always been PRIMARY in wvw.

if you want to be better than someone farming ascended gear…. SHOW UP in wvw.

showing up gives a player a 100% stat bonus in wvw.

far far too many people focus on gear and not on skill, or coordination.

Long term… you wait… I absolutely 100% guarantee that the infusion slots will be used for a stat like Resilience in PVP.

Well for others. I have not played one enjoyable game with a Resilience-like stat. So once it comes I won’t be joining you all.

I would like to see the new gear put through the stat adjustment filter that already exits for WvW. [ the one that up-levels you to 80]. Setting the Ascended stat boosts down to their exotic equivalents and blocking any additional bonuses from the inserts.
I won’t be grinding for gear and if the new stuff becomes common in WvW I’ll be relegating this game to a happy memory alongside DaoC and PS.

But until that happens, fun times.

While the OP may be overstating a bit the the new ascension gear will hold a significant increase. And with this just being the first stage they will become more significant as time goes on. While I do actually like some kind of progression, I really don’t like excessive PvE. I play this game for the WvW aspect and really enjoyed the fact that a minimal amount of PvE was required to be competitive. Being forced into the end game model that’s been regurgitated in almost every MMO is incredibly unappealing to me. They really need to add a viable way to do this same progression through WvW.

They’ve already said that ascended gear will be available through WvW. Perhaps not for this update, but it will be eventually.

Also, just because a ring is a certain % increase over it’s exotic equivalent doesn’t mean other item types have the same increase.

Your conclusion is flawed based on the unrealistic peramaeters you sets. We all know WvW is chaotic with ever changing variables. Setting assumptions on something you know to be flaw is intentionally attempting to construe the conclusion/results.

WvW isn’t about Redcoats lining up in formation and exchanging fire and you know that. A 2% increase in stats is meaningless. It’s basically someone with a Teiforge pendant vs someone who doesn’t have it.

im also pretty afraid of all these people quoting their 8% or 20% and just flat out saying your wrong

do you guys realize that only 3/13 statted slots are getting the new gear today? considering that, the “8%” number really does translate to a character being about 2% stronger with the 3 slots as opposed to without.

fully geared characters will be monsters when facing upleveled or rare (or less) geared characters, especially once the rest of the slots come out.
