The title says it all. The no uses from the orbs of power are simply too strong. This is coming from a level 80 thief in full exotic on a server that currently has all three orbs of power. In my tanky build, with the might on dodge food that grants 40% endurance regen (that is to say no precision food), I have almost 80% crit chance with the orbs. I also have almost 1500 toughness and 19,000 hp. That might not sound like much, but I’m wearing *full crit/precision/power* gear. I’m tankier than most guards and have upwards of 100% crit damage to boot.

Yes, the exotic gear doesn’t hurt (nor does playing thief), but the main point is that the orbs as they stand are too strong. 15% bonus health? Okay… I guess. 15% bonus health AND 150 points to each attribute? That’s completely absurd. The theory sounds good on paper: your server controls most of the map so obviously the other two servers will gang up on yours. Wrong. It doesn’t work like that most of the time, it just causes a snowball effect for the server with all three orbs and is discouraging for the losing servers.

My suggestion is to have the orbs give a bonus, but don’t have it affect PvP. Give +10% magic find per orb, have the orbs increase the drop rate of badges of honor, maybe give a 3% health bonus per orb. Please, though, remove the absurd bonuses.

I’m currently able to attain 3.2k power (signet might stacks) and 100% crit chance (92% without fury) with 120% crit damage when we have all three orbs. I’m obviously more geared than most, and avoid zerg fights like the plague, but do you know how stupid I feel to steal into 20 people and dagger storm players for upwards of 10k-15k damage? It isn’t even fun, plus with the hp and toughness bonuses it’s a breeze to get out. Maybe I’ll post a video in a bit to really show how ridiculous it is.Anyway, that’s my rant. Take it how you will.


TL;DR:Orbs of power are too strong. The combined bonuses cause a snowball effect because losing servers rarely gang up on the winning server. They should give a bonus that doesn’t directly affect PvP, like magic find or bonus badges of honor.

Well the fact is that WvWvW now is about getting inside after reset, secure keep ASAP, steal the orb, fortify mentioned keep. At this point you basicaly won the match before the afternoon if you manage to keep it that way. After 10hrs from reset you’re basicaly unable to fight your way back to the top no matter how hard you try unless winning team just quit all fo sudden or lose all orbs.

Last time with 3 orbs our 5 man party could easily take upon 20 enemies and after they finaly killed most of us, two thieves that managed to survive still killed 7 more people. Basicaly 3 orbs is like wearing another set of items.

Buff for being outnumbered is useless too. Instead of silly exp, karma and magic find bonuses it should have description like “go play PvE because you don’t have chances anyway”

The biggest issue with Orbs are night hours…

The undermanned side get’s XP, Karma and MF buffs…
The full side has the orbs and get’s 50-150 stats and extra hp…

One buff is useless, the other isn’t.

The biggest problem with the orbs is that it just cements the battles against lower population servers. They already have trouble organizing enough people to go against higher population servers, but with the orbs it just makes the whole situation worse.

There needs to be some kind of buff for underpopulation in WvW to counteract all three orbs.

I feel that the buffs need to be changed over, you already have a server that was strong enough to take all 3, they don’t need the help, they have 2 servers trying to take them from them so they can defend, they need the xp/karma and MF buffs etc etc, and the other two need the power buffs to brake in and take the orbs, this would make fights better and allow people to focus on defending while mixing the games up more then X-server had orbs for 10 hours and was too OP from buffs, GG for 1 week, or 2 weeks soon.
