Orbs are going to kill my enjoyment in this game.

A player with a full 3 orb bonus has only a small advantage over you. The block for you is mental and you’re responsible for overcoming it.
I agree. I don’t see why anyone who likes PvP would want orbs. Currently our server owns 2, and the only reason we don’t own a third is because it is bugged. They’re silly, and this isn’t DAoC. They simply don’t have the same effect they did in DAoC. I still PvP whether I have them or not, but I don’t feel quite as good about killing an enemy when I have 10% more health and 100 more to each stat.
I’d rather the playing field was even in that regard. If you’re any good at the game, you’ll still win your fights.
Edit: Also, to those who say a 15% health bonus and 150 bonus to each stats is minimal, you’re deluded. Do us a favor and go PvP without spending your trait points, it is almost the same.
Blaming orbs is like saying dominating servers are done solely from the organizations of the guilds on those servers..
hate to burst some ego bubbles, its most population based. Argue all you want, ask ANET to release pop stats from the borderland battles of each server.
Lots of people= tug o’war, less people=steamroll.

I like the idea of the Orbs but they need to reset more often than server matches. Once or twice per day with their effect only lasting half that time would be good. They would have to be untouchable for the other half of that time just to keep things even.
So making them reset every 12-24 hours with the effect lasting 6-12 hours after it is taken would be good. This way WvW is an even playing field for at least half of every day and no team gains a week long advantage just by snaking Orbs during the night while the other server is sleeping.

no, no point in having orbs at all than….that buff wouldnt be worth the effort.
you want the good buff? you have to work for it. the “have nots” arent suppose to be artificially inflated for incompetence

i have over 3k attack, 1800 toughness and 1600 vit….+100 stats isnt much at that godly level

Sure, one person with a 15% health and 150 stat bonus over another player might not be a big deal. A whole world of players with a 15% health and 150 stat bonus however is a huge advantage. The little things add up, and the greater in number the enemy force is, the greater the bonus.

It is. I have full exotic gear with full divinity runes. If I go full glass cannon, I would normally have about 1000 toughness/vitality. With 3 orbs I would have 1150 toughness and vitality. Are you saying that a 15% increase in both of my survivability stats coupled with a 15% increase in health is not a significant advantage?
Also, since you are so tanky, the 15% increase in health is actually much greater than in someone who is not tanky.
I guess here is what I see as an issue – You have 100 players vs 100 players, one side has three orbs, one side has none. If you look at it from a perspective of health pools, the side with three orbs has the combined health pool of 120+ players, in addition to the added offensive stats. That’s a fairly significant advantage.
Again, I’m on the side with the most orbs, I just don’t like feeling like I get an artificial edge over others. I could go play sPvP, but the gametypes there bore me and I enjoy open world pvp.
Any mechanic which ends up being “the stronger get stronger” is a bad mechanic in competitive PVP. Orbs are an obvious “the stronger get stronger” mechanic.
Orbs should give magic find or a boost to karma gain or something like that. It’s beyond stupid that they give combat bonuses.

this is why the matches will be no onger than 2 weeks, so you can get a fresh start and a better match next round… the maybe your server will be winning.
Its a reward for winning and something to strive for. ….the second you give it to the losing side you will see people not wanting t win or stop trying because they dont want to lose thier “losing buff”
an idea they could do, which i belive daoc does is when once side is winning, there guards at keep become less effective as well as being easier to siege so this makes it harder for the winning side to keep what it has…….but still rewards them with power in open field
Rewarding bonus stats it’s never a good idea. The server who manages to get the 3 orbs get such an advantage that the other servers stop trying.
Bonus gold, experience, karma, magic find, etc. should be the stats that a server should get for having an orb, something that don’t encorage others servers to give up the fight.
BTW I’m not saying all the players in the server give up but a lot of players does, and this weakens the hole server as an army.

this is a horrible idea. it promotes failer. if someone is doing bad at thier job you dont give them a raise……
like i said its not a permant match, it resets after a few weeks and matches you up against a more equal opponent. just hang in there till then or do what you can.
Well, you don’t understand it do you ?
Getting the orbs and defending the orb is not easy or free.
If you hold your orb in your borderland you get 5% buff and if enemy hold 2 orbs mean you are 5% behind them but 5% over the other enemy.
If you hold all 3 orbs you are targeted on 3 different maps by both other servers.
Keep with orb in enemy borderland is like big ATTACK us sign.
Our server is more organised right now. And we managed to hold quite alot of things but once it is 100v100v100 and we have the orbs it become 100 in a keep vs 100 on the one gate and 100 on the other gate.
Orbs are important fight for them and not just zerg EB.
From oficial data EB is the most busy map and it is 400 people per server. If you have no orbs go to the borderland maps and take the orbs.

Unfortunately they don’t see much play due to the fact that they are locked away behind 2 reinforced walls. Having a few orb resets a day would be fun.
if you reset the orbs every day there would be no sense of accomplishment and the game would be like Warhammer…….why even try.. it will just reset in a few hours. taking something and holding it until itd taken back is an accomplishment for both sides
2 weeks i think is the perfect reset time.
