So Arenanet is looking for ways to make Orbs of Power useful. But some people don’t like the idea of cosmetic upgrades like MF, exp, and wxp.
Instead of pure stats, WvW abilities could be upgraded. For every orb your server owns, every player’s WvW abilities go up by one rank.
Your server will be more powerful but not powerful enough to break the game like the old orbs of power did.

MF/GF/XP/Karma is good but not enough to warrant risking PPT for imo. WXP would be nice since a lot of people are still grinding for those rank points they want but still not good enough.
As for extra PPT or increased stats, its a gray area because it would be hard to truly balance it so it wouldn’t lopside matches more then they are. (In some tiers)
I thought a interesting idea would be to have the orbs give something your server really wants (Like all the above except maybe not extra stats) then have what ever keep they are held in deteriorate over time. Siege slowly dies, walls and doors loose HP, supply drains. This way you would have to decide not only what keep you want them in but is the benefits worth it over the objective.
Just a thought to add to the hundred others
Making holding one the equivalent of SMC in PPT would probably be enough.
Anything else like buffs, offensive or defensive, are just going to cause a snowball effect and let the leading server pull ahead even more.
The BL’s need a revamp though, including getting rid of that kitten Lake.
I would love to see the orb to become a skill based item with a revive mechanism.
Skill 1: Revive.
-Drop the orb to revive all allies withing X range with a CD of 5 minutes or so.
Skill 2: Null Bubble.
-Create a impenetrable bubble that pushes out all foes and cancels all utility skills by all players inside. (like at the Fire Shaman) CD 10 minutes.
600 range or so.
Skills reset when it changes opponents hands
Also:
-Placing the orb at an altar doubles the point output of that keep and adds 100 supplies and a +5 supply buff. (When placed the orb is locked for 15 minutes untill the altar is destroyed and/or picked up by an opponent)
-Maybe Inroduce an altar at towers and add a defensive buff for any ally (Claimer incuded) when place there. but not in keeps.
-Bringing the Orb to a supplycamp will switch the defenders alliance and will start the capturing process.
