What an OP build with ascendant gear can do:

Most of the armor can be bought off auction house or crafted, except the superior monk runes and ascended gear.

-Daggers:
2 Knights Daggers (power, precision, toughness)
1x Superior rune of battle (3stacks of might/attunement swap — attunement swap=weapon swap), 1x superior rune bloodlust (+10 power per kill)
Optional 3rd knights dagger when you have 25 stacks of bloodlust
1x superior rune of force (5% damage)
Alternate daggers used can be PVT, clerics, and berserker stats

slow clap for the great balance in WvW and sPvP Can’t WAIT to see what the holy trinity (Mesmers, Guardians and thieves) can do with ascendant gear! Joy!

Honestly, if my character wasn’t a mesmer I would be pretty upself about some of the builds I have to tip toe around.

Or maybe I just need to level my alt army someday? Nerf Thieves or fix culling one or the other. Until then [Veil] abuse yay!

You can only use pvp gear in spvp, so ascended is not allowed. Might want to edit that line a little.

Just so you know, that video was made before Fractals were even implemented and shows the imbalance of that Ele build at the time rather than the accessories used. You’re quoting the build used from the 2nd of February this year to prove its imbalance through a video made in October of last year (notice the video description).

For starters: I refuse to say anything about your comment regarding sPVP unbalanced gear, I mmmuuuuussssssttt reeesiiiiiiiissst……

However, I feel you man! kitten that guy and his ele!!!! He is running around in full ascended gear in a video from mid of November 2012!!! Evil ha x x or, they should just ban him :-(

PS: it was PVT gear back then with some mix of cleric trinkets if I remember correctly, you might want to create another “imbalanced gear” thread ;-)

The footage in the video is from before ascended gear was even available; it was uploaded nov. 14th, and obviously recorded previously. Fractals came out 11/16.

anyway, ascended gear it self isnt OP. source of the problem is the Elementalis it self

Pretty sure dev’s said they were looking in to balancing ele’s more, but no actual yay or nay was said as to what they planned. Not gonna dig for the post I read it about a month back.

But out of curiosity what is the total amount of stats all ascended gear is giving right now over exotic? Would it be about 100 stats or so?

Though you can’t obviously have all it be in the same stat, it should be fine to consider it that way for ease of comparison. So like 1000 more Health, or 100 more precision (about 5% crit), not too bad. But you should still be able to get this stuff in WvW.

Well ascended gear stat combinations are kind of limited. Work with some specs, but for me knight > everything.

I did the actual math on this… the ascended amulet (berserkers equivalent) gives you a whopping… you may want to sit down for this… ready? OK… you get a whopping 0.55% increase in damage with the ascended amulets over the exotic berserkers equivalent.

0.55%. Actual math. Damage, not dps. Outrageous imbalance?

This just makes me laugh that’s it’s on the front page with a thread by the D/D Bunzy complaining that someone actually managed to kill him with confusion.

And the Ring ups total dps by around 2.3%. Across 14 item slots, that’s around a net 10-25% increase in DPS depending on how the exact stats pan out.

So yes, if you want to be hit 10-25% harder by players geared with ascended when the full item spread comes out …

There’s also the consideration of how high you want the barriers to entry to be for fresh 80s. I already combo upleveled players for 50% more than their max health. Should I really be overkilling them by 100%?

Everyone already knows certain builds for eles are OP. Not really sure the point of more Ele are OP threads.
