OK, I know there’s a post describing the math behind the ratings, but I just don’t understand the end result. I’m on Blackgate, and even though we won, we lost in overall ratings and the second place finisher went up. Does this make any sense?

You didn’t win by a large enough margin, so you lost rating. The system is designed to predict score outcomes based on your rating. If those outcomes aren’t met or exceeded, you will go down in rating.

basically, if your rating is THAT much higher, you’re expected to win by more, and if you don’t, your rating goes down.
