Post-HoT thorns release WvW has experienced a vast fall in players to the point where it is half as active as it was prior to HoT which is indicative of the constant posts on these forums explaining kitten. You could explain that this was due to the the PvE content which is partially true but not entirely. Many people have lost hope and faith in the system, bored of the current system so what i am suggesting is not a change in the mechanics or even any new content, what i will be suggesting is a complete overhaul of how WvW is done.

Lets start with the new borderlands, in my opinion they provide interesting mechanics and are architecturally amazing to look at, however they have something missing….. players. The solution is to scrap the ideas of worlds and create factions which could lead to interesting mechanics like faction unique skins which can tie into your world ranking system (which is suggested and Anet implemented roughly 2 years ago) the factions unlike the servers will have their unique physical identity rather then being completely community based, these factions will also be completely untied to PvE so rather then have worlds Anet will only have megaservers for all things other then WvW and for WvW factions.

The mechanics of the factions will work as such (for obvious reasons this is a rough write up and much thought hasn’t been put into what i am writing), You get to allocate which faction to choose from an arbitrary number of factions what i believe should be at its minimum 12 and maximum 18 ( a multiple of 3) creating 4-6 tiers for NA and 5-8 tiers for EU.

This would condense the existing thin populations creating more competitive match-ups and something more dynamic then the existing system. Queues won’t be a huge issue as they were at launch as EOTM is always an option and the borderlands will support the larger numbers due to their size and scope not promoting blobbing. One of the negatives arising from this is the potential loss in existing communities, however as i am sure existing tight knit communities will plan to move to a similar faction moving the server identity with it.

Domination of a faction- This issue is one would need immediate addressing to prevent what happened in WvW leading it to the reach the state it currently exists at, my suggestion is similar to the system we have now a manual full status for when servers begin to exceed the average population by a large amount.

Would love to hear what you all think and for those too lazy to read TLDR. Server pops too low, wvw innactive, make new servers, name them factions, less servers, dynamic fighting, win for everybody.
