perfect way to get people to defend
They’ll promote defending and teamwork right after they stop finding new and sadistic ways to get people to want to transfer and buying gems to do so.
Notice how these patches focus on making $$ foremost and keeping grinding? They couldn’t give a rats kitten about the rest.
Sooo when some random thief rolls up and smacks a door, I’m getting a sweet reward for doing a little jog around the keep and doing a quick check? Sweet!
Please I know everyone is frustrated with the whole zerg thing. I don’t like it either. I really want people to read this post. If they like it promote it and if they have intelligent better ideas add them. Thank you don’t complain on this thread please it wont accomplish anything.
Remember yaks?
Remember when they gave rewards?
Remember when twenty people would escort two timed yaks?
Remember when bots filled up the queues?
Remember, remember the fifth of November.
(Long story short, its hard to reward this stuff without it instantly becoming abusable/exploitable. I, for one, don’t want Siegegriefer McGrieferson to get “sweet rewards” for doing his thing.)

so you want zergers to get everything and people who take time to defend get nothing. You should be able to find another game you would fit into better keep the responses intelligent and help make the game better

What?
You didn’t read what I wrote I’d wager because (a.) nowhere was zerging mentioned nor is it even a point of discussion, (b.) no where did you address the very legitimate concern I’ve raised based on evidence of what happened in this game on launch, and (c.) no where did you even bother to try and address my concern about the blatant problem this would cause by rewarding griefers tangibly.
Do you think Yaks don’t reward anything for kittens and giggles?
I’m not Evil Kenevil, I don’t want to not reward defense because I am some evil mastermind twirling his mustache. I fear that just upping rewards will do more harm than good.

There is no incentive to defend right now. So any good idea would be appreciated. However you want to describe it give me some real feedback. Taking a tower or keep already give the rewards why not make it so that people who mainly defend can get them too. Is it griefing to love using siege to kill the enemy that is trying to take the keep or tower. I don’t think so. It might be inconvenient for a group that is trying to take the objective, but that is what the game was initially designed to do. Not just a big roling ball of experience chasing mindless blue taco followers. And yes that is what people who zerge are.
@shoufer Though Vena’s post may be worded poorly he has a very valid point. So please don’t make suggestions unless you are able to maturely handle other peoples opinions.
As for your idea, it not as easy as boosting rewards. Boosting rewards for sitting in a keep with allow people to semi-afk (afk) in keeps just to reap the rewards which sucks for people that want to really defend but its a variable anet has to factor in when making changes like that. Also your idea of “perfect” is way off, you assume anet hasn’t thought about boosting rewards? They haven’t done so, so they most likely have reasons for it.
Next issue, is having rewards for defending a tower equal to zerging would lower the amount of people actually out in the field fighting, so your idea will just start a new string of threads complaining about how everyone sits in towers to farm instead of fighting. Also a good siege on a well defended T3 keep could take a few hours, how would it be equal for the attackers to get no rewards while you bunker in your keep getting rewards every 3 minutes?

Everyone would not sit in towers. But it would give people incentive to help defend them. When called. Yes some people would just run to a tower and stand around but you already have people that just follow zergs and don’t actually help just to get experience. I think it is a realy good idea. I don’t see a down side. If you are one of those people who think that WvW should be open field PVP there is a place for you if you are one of those people that like to zerge well you will have ample opportunity. The current system only encourages zerging and does literally nothing to get people to defend.
You don’t see a down side because you’re not willing to. While I do agree that there needs to be more rewards for scouts and the other jobs other than zergs, just flat out boosting the rewards doesn’t seem like the best way to go about it. I would guess if it was that easy anet would have done it already…
As for more encouragement for defending, sounds like a issue with your server or communication. I don’t see this issue in T1 nor with any T2/3 server I’v faced. Maybe the issue is with you staying on a bottom tier server. Honestly I love defending keeps, I net so much more WXP and bags then I’d get following any zerg. The current meta of throw bodys at it is great for farming. I know you’re going to make some crack at T1 servers and blah blah, it doesn’t matter, if they make a change they have to keep all servers in mind not just your low pop server.

Dev response: "While we are still looking at ways to break up the zerg, we hope that our new coat of paint, codename “WvW Seasons,” will make the matchups more balanced in terms of having unbalanced matchups. Remember, we can only update WvW every 2 months, and we still need to finish implementing all the masteries that are utterly useless. With that said, you should go play another game and stop posting useful ideas on our forums. See you all on the battlefield!"

I guess someone doesn’t really pay attention to updates at all. Sept 17th → WvW Patch <- reserve judgment. Seasons start on October 4th.
How do I into flow of time?

In regards to the 2 month period, I was referencing their statement about WvW not getting any updates in the middle of each season. This is in an attempt to keep the matchups “fair.” I would like to raise the point that class balancing will not see this kind of delay, so why should WvW updates? Again, seems like a poor excuse for a lack of creativity.

Which is irrelevant because what was the rate of WvW patching to begin with? A mastery every two weeks? Its not an excuse at much of anything unless you want to see it as such because they aren’t talking about “bug fixes/skill changes” they are talking about things like Bloodlust which in and of itself isn’t something that can just be pumped out in a few weeks, and which completely changes the dynamics of a game/map.
But, that being said, my point was that you seem to be casting this bizarre prognosis (just by simple observation on your other posts) about a thing that won’t be releasing for a month meanwhile something far more relevant/important is being released two weeks from now, which completely seems to have gone under your radar.

When attacker cover the wall, door with AOE spam, the only way to defend is wait for the door or wall to go down.
Defending reward sucks, it is more rewarding to wait for enemies to take the tower/keep , then take it back.
(Reason why total blowout don’t happen often nowadays)

How can you be excited about a stat buff that people have been clamoring not to have them put in the game? Say bye bye to GvG, although I know some will argue it shouldn’t be there in the first place. I’m pretty indifferent to the whole issue, but it’s hard to be ignorant of the fact it will negatively impact the community more than anything.
Let’s remember that the best part about the original Orbs was running them from the altar to a safe spot. Now it’s just capture points that will probably be held down by siege and overwhelming numbers. I think it’s safe to say that most WvWers simply want a competitive form of open world combat, and all these implementations seem to derail that concept.
