People are getting mental ill of playing WvW
People are getting mental ill of playing the World vs World (WvW) in Guild Wars 2 (GW2). Anet has begun to play with peoples mentality by performing their new forced server merge. This do to committed players loyalty and friends is changing all the time. And they can’t even be loyal to them self.
Since players on the 1.st server will now be forced merge with a 2nd server and after few weeks they can have the same 2.nd server as there opponent, now having to be loyal to a 3.rd server and playing against the 2.nd server they were just loyal to and friended with the week before.
Do to Anet forcing server merge on to the 1.st server with any server Anet see fit and the 1.st server don’t have any saying in this. The 1.st server can’t even be loyal to there own server, since they are forced merged with other different server’s.
What the server merge will ultimately do is to make people mentally ill. This is because the server they just were merged with the weeks before and have become loyal to (as well as friends with) is at the risk of being there opponent server the very next week.
How would a committed player feel, being thrown around like this. Whom shall the 1st server be loyal to ? Whom do they want to win ? More importantly what would prevent sabotage of either server (by joining the opponent server basically they can mess up their game on purpose)?
This is what the players are now currently exposed to in WvW in GW2. How on earth can a game developer even begin to play around with the minds of the players like this? To play around with committed peoples loyalty and feelings like that is making the players sick, because to whom lies their loyalty and what kind of loyalty does this develop in the minds of the players?
To make it worse the 1.st server can risk being forced merged with a 4.th server and they now risk being in the position to have to fight server 2.nd and 3.rd as there opponent. Again to whom lies the 1.st server’s loyalty and how do they feel as committed players on there own server ?
The irony is, that in the game you can get a title called loyal but what do you need that for, when you can’t even be loyal to yourself.
Had to format it…. it was making my eyes bleed….. You’re welcome.
Also, when you play any other game that randomly throws you into a match, for instance fps games, and you play against friends, do get mentally ill from that too?
There are many players/guilds in the game that have friends on other servers and guilds, it doesn’t make them mentally ill when they fight each other. Eventually those friends may even come together to play on one server.
Play the game, be loyal to your team, but show good sportsmanship to your friends if you go against them and save yourself from “mental illness”. Or be loyal to the other friends, sabotage your current team, whatever floats your boat.
North Keep: One of the village residents will now flee if their home is destroyed.

Hi this was more to point to, that forced merged sever might not be so fun
for those that are forced into this.

What Anet should do is kick everyone from all servers, then make guilds and players rejoin at a controlled rate so all servers fill up equally.
To make sure full guild join the same server, guild can apply to servers so that Anet can reserve spots. But to prevent bandwagoning, Anet should stop all guilds from adding new member and creation of new guilds until this new transfer is done.
But again the issue here is that hardcore WvW guild may try to apply to the same server, whilst another server only gets a handful.
So again, servers must be distinguished by class. This doesnt affect anything, but will tell players which servers are active in WvW/sPvP/PvE. and join accordingly.
Nothing will be perfect now, things have gotten too messed up. You cannot fix a 4 year problem overnight.
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2

Only way to stop zergs
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Server merging has created far more problems then it has solved but rotating the merges is plain insanity. It is destroying any sense of community. The only thing it seems to encourage, is Big Zergs, roaming maps and preventing any normal kind of play. WvW has become predictable and very boring. i play here from day one and getting more and more fed up.

Personally I would allow me to rename all the servers;
That would give me hours of fun in wvw.
Also as an anti zerg procedure we should introduce new effects on runes such as;
50% on Hit chance to randomly slay 5 allies within 1500 range. ( may have to test on Maguumans first)
Sorry i was lost with the thread topic so i just joined in… I think the thread is about server pairing taking away enjoyment for some?
I thought the point of WvW was to buil community on the servers.. constantly swapping out half the “community” doesn’t feel like it’s working towards that goal. :p

That died when anet killed small guilds. Community made wvw and the small guilds that where the back bone of many servers back then, all gone now. No rivals, no competition, nothing. Nearly every tier is a blow out with one server being the mega power.
Gem transfers over players, new business philosophy.
There really is no mental health problem here. I have switched servers several times, and fought against previous allies. There are a few I try to avoid killing but otherwise this is a game, you aren’t killing real people permanently.
All people fighting alongside your server are allies, not friends. Friends might be people you play with in your guild or people on your world you play with in WvW regularly. If you end up with a different server paired with yours and against those former allies they are obviously dirty double crossing ‘baskets’ and you should kill them all. Show no mercy!
Then, if they rejoin your alliance then they have seen the evil of their ways.
I would argue that small guilds aren’t dead, yet. Anet did make it hard for them when they introduced HoT and made the Guild Hall require such a huge investment in gold and time.
The release of the desert borderlands with all it’s issues made me very upset for a long time. Now the repair hammer things is freaking me out and so if watching lower servers crumble =(
What if I’m already mentally ill? Will GW2 make me better? hmmm… maybe!!

yes killing the small guilds is a reality if you don’t want to spend your own super hours of time and/or money. I just finished cleaning out my 3 guild vaults and am preparing to remove the last few people and disband it by leaving it myself. I’ve joined a bigger one and frankly don’t seem to have a use for what was a growing guild at one point.
All of the WvW buffs and stuff I had worked to hard to build up poofed away with HoT.. in order to get them back of course it would have meant claiming a GH and building it up… Yep, definitely making me mentally iller…. :P
