Whats everyone’s feelings on the over anonymity of world vs world?
I was disappointed to see names are blanked out earning a rep and seeing arch rivals is half the fun of WvW.
Now we are in set colours, so you cant even show off your snazzy pink plate set of doom!
I would like to see the names of people who im fighting.
People in their own dyed gear – wtf is the point of dyeing your gear if hardly anyone can see it? Redname plates are more than sufficient to know hostiles, at a minimum allow guilds to display a colour scheme to compliment their heraldry.
Or am I alone in these opinions?
I like the anonymity. Nothing worse than having mad players guesting on your realm to bad mouth your guild.
More pew pew, less trash talk.

Guild names+tags are shown in WvW, not sure what you’re trying to say here.
On topic:
Yes I think it would be great if we could actually see the name of the player who beat us or the other way around ofcourse.
It gives you a form of recognition, which in my opinion means a lot to competetive players.
guild names and server names are fine. not in favour of character names.
Then let me rephrase it to: “Nothing worse than having mad players guesting on your realm to bad mouth you”.
Happens all the time in another popular MMO. I’d rather not test the limits of the /ignore list on this game too.
I agree to an extent. Back in vanilla WoW, the server I played on had an awesome PvP community on both Alliance and Horde. You got to know who your opponents were from that, and there was an amazing sense of community. It was a common thing to go on the forums and see a “gg” thread, talking about how much fun each side had. The friendly competition was nice, and I even made friends from the opposite faction that way.
I miss that, but for as much good as it could bring, there are always going to be people that trash talk others, and no one enjoys that.
At least guilds can still be seen, so people can have that friendly rivalry between guilds.

I sure hope there isn’t a limit, if there is: I’m probably close to it already. I’ve literally blocked everyone who said something like “Don’t defend, it’s bad!” in the 24-hour matches. Everyone.
Keep it anonymous for player names.
People shouldn’t Play WvW to get their Name out and known in a game.
Keep the anonymity. Less 12 year old “pwned” trash talk garbage.
I still would prefer to see names, I just like it this way.
It would be nice to be able to focus down certain people and be able to point out certain people quickly to teams. Instead of “kill that guy 14th from the left and 2nd deep in the crowd”.
This is why I sit on peoples faces after I kill them, its not a disresprect thing. It’s to let you know who I am.
3 sits is me.

I think it’s a VERY good idea to keep the enemy anonymous. It prevents a LOT of the hate that’s generated for enemy players. People raging after they get killed. Entire guild falsely reporting an enemy player they don’t like. There are many many reasons for it.
However, having said that, I do believe that there should be an option to reveal yourself to the world. Your gear colors, guild emblem, even your name. I know that there are many players who respect highly skilled players no matter if they’re friend or enemy, and it’s a shame that we can’t show that respect because we can’t even tell who is who.
to see names would be a huge step for the community but ofc some ppl dont understand that
there’s another thread about this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Option-to-show-name-in-WvW/first#post147698
I’ve thrown in my suspicion, that it might be to make it harder for enemies to ally as they can’t use whisper without having to exchange names outside the game (how about an emote morse-code ? ;-)
about the gear: could this be to make rendering easier on memory consumption? right now you see enemies only after being loaded – wouldn’t loading all the gear take even longer?
