Taken from matchup forum thread, I found it to be so enlightening, I thought I share it with all :

Even so, Kaineng is still considered to be the worst WvW server because we kinda lack effective strategy dealing with zergs that greatly outnumber us, the lack of people participating in Kaineng WvW, the inability to control our own borderland (heck our kittening garrison got captured numerous times), commanders who have no kittening idea what they are doing or the priorities of controlling important locations (if the garrison or the main EB keep is captured, retaking it is the highest priority no matter what); and of course, Ajax Blue.

I’m planning to transfer away from Kaineng because Kaineng makes it really difficult to do WvW map exploration which I really need for 100% map completion for one character. And considering that Kaineng is stuck on the color red like three to four times in a row, it kinda shows how much fail Kaineng is in WvW.

We all know WvW map completion is very important and a measure of your knowledge of WvW tactics, skill and commander’s expertise. Thank goodness we have the transfer service for such highly valued individuals to join a Tier 1 server so that their brilliance is not wasted.

Jokes aside, commanders are players too looking for fun and have no obligations to convince, educated , shape up PUGs into an average fighting force. It is much easier for experienced players to give up on their own servers and transfer to high ranking servers. Score means nothing and having success this week means you get more chance of getting vastly outnumbered next week matched with highly ranked server.

There is no incentive for experienced players to build a WvW community and teach / encourage true new players to take part in WvW . All it takes is gems ( farm more pve) for a one time transfer fee and you will be with the winning servers.

Perhaps Anet has some figures and transfers to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 server is important in maintaining server costs.

Don’t sweat it. This guy’s priorities are literally:
1. Get my gift of exploration.
2. Server that has CoF open 24/7.

ahh. i know that guy. lol he argued with a commander couple of days ago because no one wants to help recapture garrison. kaineng lost all its major guilds. that pretty much explains how were falling down.

The main point of this thread is a valid one.

It is much easier to transfer to a server that can hold their own during a match up in order to get those much needed completion rewards and increase badge gathering than it is to ride out a transition on weakened server.

While there are a small group at the top of the heap that rarely suffer losses for long, the servers below feel the losses of large guilds rather quickly when they depart for greener pastures.

Individual transfers are hardly noticed except when they add up together in a short period of time.

I have done three transfers personally since launch. The first time was because my original server was not just being abandoned but the remaining community was also becoming rancid with spite over it.

The second time I transferred was to get away from a server that was picking up large numbers of serious guilds and causing the same experience of souring the existing community.

My last transfer was a return to the previous server after the dust had settled. Overall the tension seems to have relaxed a great deal and it is once again a more pleasurable place to contribute.

I am not in favor of removing the ability to transfer from the game, but it would be nice to have some sort of lock out feature on the top servers that could prevent them from continuously draining the rest of the servers of much needed population.

Being a full server is just not enough as it has been made clear that guilds can put forth an effort to create a window of opportunity for transfers when they want to thus bolstering their numbers despite being already “full”.

As long as this remains a possibility WvW will continue to be a frustrating venue for lower servers to compete in.
