Plus the fact that Thief Fear is an INSANE duration compared to own actual skills is very annoying.

I prefer darkness, good chance to blind the fear.

we have one melee attack, yes dagger one does good damage buy sometimes you need to sacrifice that for a bit and life bolt can hit very hard as a powermancer.

s/p thief is not one of our hard counters, they just don’t have the raw CC that can destroy us. They do how ever have good damage if you let them sit on you. Don’t let them.

Pistol Whip gives evasion during the skill so that sounds like the worst waste of wells possible if he even had a well.

I run with Dagger/Focus and Axe/Warhorn. So its Melee to mid range depending on the weapon set then you get the fact that Life Blast deals MORE damage the CLOSER you are. Then again, i am guesisng you didnt read the rest of the posts.

Cant be bothered to keep repeating myself, so i will let you just glace back through and see that i was not complaining about the Thief, i was not saying they should be nerfed i was simply inquiring about a weapon set that i hadnt encountered before.

By the way, Necro can “face tank” perfectly fine with the right build, stats and everything.

“Sub-Optimal” because other than knowing my weapon sets you know how much about my build?

I wouldnt really call it “sub-optimal” when the only reason i died was because how bad my gear was. Even with my terrible gear at the time i was still able to knock him to under 20% health several times and ALL that saved him was his Stealth.

I killed a thief duo with just using pistol whip on them till they died and I rarely play thief.

The OP is lucky they weren’t here at launch back when Pistol Whip was one of the most, if not the most OP move in the game.

Armageddonash, I wish you would just read my post a bit higher instead of replying to ppl who falsely accuse you. I did explain entirely how PW works and how to work with it as opponent. I’m a S/P thief myself and yes we’re rare but it’s not unbeatable.

PS: Thieves never were able to get into enemy spawn using stealth. They used fly hacks to get into the zone where no legendary defender were (the crafting stations).

Completely wrong. There is a jump trick you can do and all you have to do is be invis. Its super easy if you know it and can be done on engi, mesmer, and thief. You dont need to exploit anything i found out how to do it out of boredom. Once you get it down proceed to kill all their npcs.

The worst part about this post is that now there at least one thief out there thats going to think pistol whip is awesome.

what is even worse is some of the comments assuming this was some sort of whining post demanding the class to be nerfed, simly asking for advice on a sweapon set that i hadnt seen before (or since) lol

It has evade frame during the slashes just time your attack at the end of the channel. Same as you should do again mesmers using blurred frenzy you know you can’t hit them just time attack to hit at the end of the channel. The stun portion of pistol whip doesn’t have evade frames if you dodged or moved away the thief likely will be trying to infiltrator strike to stay on top of you which you can also interrupt with doom.

Step 2: Uncheck “Melee Attack Assist”
Step 3: Walk through the thief when he pistol whips you.

Too hard? Buy 6 melandru runes and walk around doing whatever you want.

Pwhip thieves should never kill anyone unless they outnumber you. It’s a super troll pony cheese build with little to no utility. Easy counter.

Pistol whip thief doesn’t exist. Sword/Pistol thieves, however, do. If you’re an S/P thief using Pistol Whip as your primary source of damage, you’re absolutely right. They’ll never kill anyone. However please do not confuse these bad players with S/P thieves who actually know how to use the tools they’ve chosen to wield. Pistol Whip is a utility, not a reliable direct damage source.

I’ve been seeing more and more Pistol Whip Thieves in both Spvp and WvW past few days. Really really being annoying up your kitten always.
