We are currently a Tier 2 server holding our own but could do with some more support.

Worried about queues ? Don’t worry there is absolutely no queue at all at the moment and thats why we need you ! We are outmanned on atleast 2/4 borders and only 1 border is full (with a queue of 5 mins, normally where IRON is, and only at prime time )

If you are as serious about WvW as we are, then this Server consisting of committed WvW guilds would be the perfect place to call home in GW2.

We’re a popular English-speaking server and looking for WvW guilds from all timezones and servers to transfer to join us. On Desolation, there is a close-knit WvW community with commanders who liase with each other for the good of the server without egos clashing. We need more WvW guilds and players for more epic battles and to cover all maps. We share a Teamspeak server within our alliance and a community forum (http://we-will-desolate.net).

WvW guilds of all sizes would be supported by and work closely with our Desolation alliance in EU Tier 2, where all three sides involved are brilliantly fun even fights without long queues, night-capping or whining. We have a number of loyal guilds on this server who have been here since day 1. We just need more dedicated guilds to cover the maps we don’t have the numbers to cover at the moment.

We had a hard night. But now we are in second place.
I played from 10.00 pm till 04:00am. My head hurts :P

We fought hard and won a lot of points last night.

Congrats to Desolation for overtaking Elona on Wednesday late night to stay in Tier 2! We’re having a close fight with Baruch Bay this week, so join in with the action!! An ex-FSP guild has joined us, along with some individual players from other servers. We’d love to have more people, so please get in touch!

the good thing about desolation is that the queues dont exist and still we have many wvw organized guilds inside, but we indeed need more wvw players

I recently moved from FSP because of lack of wvw interest there and decided to move to SFR.

Didn’t really like SFR even though its much stronger than Deso, finally moved to deso and quite satisfied with it so far. i also joined iron guild and like their focus towards wvw.

if your looking for a good server, deso is definitely worth looking into.

Server loyalty is a kitten. I mean. I appreciate the invitation DW got to join Desolation, but because we got a lot of things invested in Far Shiverpeaks, both emotionally and other things it is hard to just pick up and move.

Spent a very pleasant week over in Deso and had the privilege to WvW with IRON and others. If I was not guild bound to FoW I would gladly sign up. Some of the best WvW commanders I’ve seen so far.

We are currently a Tier 3 server and we go up next week if it stays this way.

We have a decent euro (GMT) evening cover.No qeues and can use some morning/night time guilds.

I love T3 matchup so far. German servers never yield gotta admid it even if the whole map is in Deso hands.

We might go up to T2 tonight. Hard to stay, atm we are 5 points above Elona Reach. I think it’s all depend if ER wants to stay in T2 and fight all day long. Anyway looks like ANet increased server capacity, so anyone who’s willing to transfer won’t find any problems now

Juggernauts [JuG] is recruiting a few “support” spec’d classes for our small WvW team.

We are now in tier 2 again ! yay =) We are 2nd in the current matchup but catching up to Arborstone fast if we keep this current point tick. Would be great to get a few mornings or night time guilds. S till alot of room for prime time guilds looking to transfer. Still no queues.

Like the people said previously we need more numbers, usually we face enemies twice our size and still beat them but in the end we are only so big and can’t cover everything.

Come to Desolation it’s a great community here, and no egos. Everyone is very friendly with each other (and I truly mean that), and all the people i know that have switched to Desolation are definitely enjoying it here.

I belong in IRON, but i really am objective here. Joining in this guild i finally found what i was looking for. A guild very friendly, fun and very very organised in WvW. I logged in TS server with guild and allies and i realized how much strategy there is in the game. Every day that i join IRON in a WvW fight i have so much fun and learn new things. Generally, after playing many MMO’s, in GW2 IRON is a guild that deserves attention. A server like Desolation, has not so much the numbers, but the quality needed to be competing with the best servers in the rating list.

Before i was in IRON , i was like server and guild hoppin , trying to find somewhere i can call “home” in this game.

Desolation and IRON gave me this.Even if we are outmanned in general , we are working so hard not only as a guild but as a server to manage something positive.

We have so many tacticfull mind guilds and self skilled players.As you can understand from that , Desolation is not making mindless zergs but working over some tactics.

If you wanna have some decent WvW play with great community , if you need somewhere you can call “home” in this game with perfect people and most important if you don’t wanna have long queues while having those , Desolation is a great place for you!

yep, ofc there are other guilds doing a huge part in these battles. I wouldn’t like people reading my post and think that i don’t see other guilds helping. All guilds need each other for their reasons.

And of course, GH !! That golems, too OP. :p

Did you know that Arnold Schwarzenegger is on IRON TS?
But he can’t be on always, therefore new cannonfo .. recruits are welcome.

Just to give my opinion on a few issues you raised. I too at one time would have agreed with you about sticking to only 1 map and not helping out the others. It got on my nerves, however the past few weeks IRON have been (mostly) single-handedly taking care of 1.5 – 2 borderlands. We are much better at response time in switching between them.

This is not an IRON recruitment thread, We are a big WvW guild, so naturally more you see more IRON members on the WvW section of these forums. No problem if members of other Deso guilds spend more of their time playing than reading forums, I wish I was more like them to be honest :p.

The other guilds on Desolation do a great job. The guilds that slug it out on EB, and the guilds that play on the other Borders.
I think some of the other bigger guilds on Deso only have WvW events on set days of the week. Which is fair enough, however IRON is a 24/7 WvW guild.

Hence why this thread was made in the first place, to recruit more players and more WvW guilds so (hopefully) the other borderland maps wont need help from IRON 90% of the time.

In last couple of days we have been in BB BL full time but we still go back to Deso BL to defend when keeps are in danger because it has been decided within our alliance that will we take care of Deso BL…also,we don’t go EB mostly because that is where most of “pugs” go so queues are usually longer there and it would be harder to get whole guild there…but we got Moorta there (who is IRON commander and he is doing great job at organizing EB along with other commanders) and yes we need members to stay in the same BL cuz how would it be if we are all scattered around? We need to work together…we are hardcore WvW guild and that is why our members require to play WvW most of the time ofc

Also,we got some commanders who are still learning but they are trying their best and they will get better with time
We can’t hold more than 1 BL very good and that is why sometimes when we cap everything we are forced to go back to Deso BL cuz it’s under attack

I was online at the point this week we moved into EB to help out. We had only 1 tower on the whole map, and had lost our keep.
Obviously the numbers just weren’t there that morning in EB (EB map usually does fine throughout the week).
We ported to EB to help give the numbers to re-take our 3rd of the map.
Our commanders at that time didn’t have the best knowledge of the map, we let people know this. We followed another commander from a different guild. We were there to just help with numbers.
After successfully taking our keep and our towers back, (if i remember correctly) we heard from a scout in Deso border that the enemy were on the inner keep at DB. So we left.
We have to go full force together most of the time in order to face up to the large guilds on the opposing servers.
Again, back to the point of this thread. We need more WvW guilds to join us to fill the holes we have as a server.

Your other points don’t affect anyone who isn’t already in the guild. So I assume anyone who is in IRON is okay with those restrictions. So I don’t understand why you are bringing them up.

I am unaware of people asking anyone to move away from EB. Only if someone in IRON was hanging around in EB when they are supposed to be with the rest of the guild.
Just to be clear, im not an officer or anything, so I have no idea about the background whispers between commanders.

Also this whole issue could have been brought up the IRON forums or the Deso community forums.

Ok, I don’t really care about the whole discussion but on this point I really have to speak.

I was in IRON for a few days, tried to contribute to my best during that brief period, then during a discussion in guild chat I dared to express strong criticism of the game and of ArenaNet (specifically related to the introduction of the ridiculous PvE gear grindmill which obviously also impacts WvW) and got immediately offered the option of either shutting up or leaving the guild. Wasn’t really a hard choice for me. So, no, sorry, allowing free thinking to its members is most certainly not one of IRON’s strong points.

A small tip from me: if you want to build a strong community, make sure it survives the eventual death of whatever game it’s born on. Behaving like the official Arenanet’s cheerleaders is not going to do you any favors in the long run.

Nice, now go tell that to Kargoth, he even perma-banned me from your forums because I dared write a goodbye post (in which I said absolutely nothing bad about anyone and just wished good luck to everyone in the guild, btw). And he (or some other officer) also deleted a few negative posts about that very same topic (ascended crap) on another thread btw.

Oh and you were online that day too, during that episode. Along with a few other officers.

Regardless, it’s not really important. I just got peeved at that sentence about free thinking when my experience has been diametrically opposite. I still wish you all the best but I repeat my warning, stop thinking exclusively about Arenanet and GW2 and start thinking about your community if you want it to survive.

First of all, I wasn’t kicked, I left. Second, that was after said member (and a couple others, to be sure) tried to belittle me six or seven times (“stop whining”, “stop crying”, “lol idiots” etc.) in guild chat while I was having a perfectly fine discussion with someone else. I’m a patient guy, that’s why I let the first several times go. But you can’t expect to keep provoking me forever and not get the reply you so richly deserve, sooner or later.
Funny thing is, Kargoth felt it was perfectly fine for the others to keep having pot shots at me (and the other guys who were agreeing with me) but as soon as I dared reply he came down on me like a ton of bricks. Either he was playing favorites, or he simply had an agenda. Considering he kept behaving that same way on forums, deleting posts which were… let’s say “too critic” of Arenanet and the game, it isn’t really hard to guess which option is the correct one. I’m sorry but if you can’t see that in IRON you’re expected to toe the “Arenanet can do no wrong” line (or you were anyway, can’t speak for how it is now) then there isn’t much else to discuss.

People may have problems with IRON or the way IRON does things in WvW.You have your own rights to talk your mind.I’m not going to tell you something like “you can’t oppose IRON”.

Only thing i will say here , if you wanna flame/critic about IRON please do it on a proper section/topic on the forum.

This is a topic for Desolation’s recruiting guilds or players from other servers.Please keep it that way.We still need them to join us and this kind of argument won’t do any help to Desolation.

There goes the deso recruitment for a toss, The feedback on IRON should be either on IRON forums or in an appropriate section , it completely derails the efforts to recruit an already struggling server trying to pick up itself back up from what happened previously and has already put off a lot of people from joining Desolation, and we should to rebuild it as a server and show others why Desolation as a server is a good place to be.
