This is the worst implementation of stealth I’ve ever seen in a pvp game. seriously. Could you consider reducing stealth effectiveness until the game works properly?

Seconded. Makes me not want to play WvW because it has become nothing more then who can abuse renders the most. Thieves and mesmers is all I am seeing now in large scale battles.

Culling will never go away.

Reluctantly agree.
I like the idea of ‘tactical’ rather then strategic stealth… I got to see it in beta. I played as a thief and I played against thieves, and the stealth implementation felt interesting/fine.
BUT the rendering (or whatever it is) that is allowing people to remain unseen for attack, after attack, after attack is no fun.

thieves are getting 2x the benefit out of their stealth right now in wvw. they should be able to lose some utility and be about where they should be.

Sorry but is there some technical limitation preventing the game from rendering all the players? Because I’ve played plenty of games with huge numbers of people where there were no rendering issues at all.

Other games were capable of displaying a large amount of players but they have no where near the level of graphical detail that GW2 has.
Even then, many of those games were plagued by crippling, unplayable lag when large amounts of players gather in one area.
It might improve a bit, perhaps, but it will never fully disappear.
Technology just isn’t there unless they make the game look like Pong.

if true, then they need to prioritize thieves first when characters emerge.,

for those who don’t understand how the culling tends to work. when you leave the area, move far away, TP back to LA or whatever, you’re taken out of the render cache. this is to save resources and makes sense. when you enter a scene, get closer, TP in, etc, you get added to the render cache. This also tends to makes sense… you are approaching from a distance, or teleporting into a room near a battle or whatever. That gives you time to fully load into the scene for other players and should be somewhat fluid.
The thing that DOESN’T make sense is when you go into stealth, you get removed from that render cache the same as if you TPed out of the zone all together. When you de-stealth, you’re added back into the render cache, but since you’re not approaching from the distance, or inside a building, giving plenty of time to load you to render, you get all that time, based on latency, load time, free memory and whatever else the render engine compensates for, essentially vastly extending your invisibility.
Considering you never actually leave the scene, there’s no good excuse for being taken out of the render cache as though you’ve left the battle field. You should certainly be able to still be loaded, but not seen… this is how most games that have a stealth mechanic do it, and IMO shows kind of sloppy coding.

Tip number one: Turn down your settings!
Cannot count the number of times I heard people on TS claim invisible bug. Where I on low settings would simply see hordes of enemies run towards me.
Yes, eye candy is nice. But if it means I get killed by enemies, I prefer to tone down settings and win!

According to this post the stealth bug has been fixed and the fix goes live in the next patch.

Problem solved then hopefully.
Getting back to the OP. Yes, it’s been my single biggest issue as a thief and non-thief user.
I recently started using a thief and its funny to unleash damage on people and yet they have no idea where it’s coming from. I recognise it has nothing to do with my ‘l33t’ skills but simply the rendering issue.
On paper I’m sure stealth works correctly but in RL it’s much much different.

Already on lowest quality/highest performance settings. It doesnt matter. Nice to see that this is getting fixed.
