Your group didn’t use cc’s when he was visible and didn’t use aoe cc’s when he was in stealth.

Its impossible. If you face this trick before you will understand why. If we move out from the stack he will just go invisible again with C&D. The reason why we must turtle and AOE is because we must not let him close to us so that he can use C&D. I was hitting him , see the numbers coming out. Just that it was hard to communicate with pubs.
As i said there is a way to counter it but that’s not the point. Its a low risk high reward trick that should not be in the game.
I will state this again. Yes i know it can be countered. This video is not to show how to counter it or argue how to do it. It is to show that this is a low risk high reward trick.
I’ve had at times thieves trying to hold camps, but they are usually taken out in less than 2 minutes. The game provides excellent method of figuring out NEW tactics to cope with situations.
Saying that however, I’ve always felt that any take over of a point should be based around supperior numbers in the circle rather than ONLY team in the circle.
If there are 5 Team X, and 4 Team Y, then it should still tick towards team X, but very slowly. If there are 2 team X and no Team y. then it ticks cleanly towards team x. It should worl more like a tug of war rather than a conquered meter.
Why did you go on the defensive and ball up? Go on the offensive.
Immobilize, knockback, stun, or go all out and just Moa Morph him. What’s he gonna do as a Moa against an army? Die, that’s what.
Being defensive, you deserve to get trolled like that. Those who go on the offensive when I troll their point take me out the fastest.
That being said culling is the issue, not the thief.

I couldn’t help but laugh when the team member said stand here and don’t go outside and all the sudden the opposing team came and AoE’d you while you still stood there. If you’re going to die, you may as well break out and die trying.
You can hate on the guy all you want, but hes just trying to emphasise a point that does need fixing.

nah id rather they have stealth cap removed. Yesterday was rolling around in group of
7-8, 1 single thief prevented the capture by 10 minutes.
Well yeah, maybe we were quite awful at catching him. But when thieves can spec for perma invisibilty without ever hitting someone. its hard for anything that isnt a 20 man zerg to throw aoes randomly on the ground in the hopes that he will actually die. Damage on the thief doesnt even reveal him. Mix this in with the render issues and it becomes ridiculous.
No other class can do stupid stuff like this.
Anet has failed to fix game mechanics like rendering and stealth cap in WvW. As a result, everyone on the forums comes to QQ about thieves on a daily basis leading to Anet nerfing you guys into the ground because of game mechanics but not even the class itself.
Are thieves OP without the render bug?? Debatable. With render bug ? Yes they are OP. result = nerf thief skills rather than fix the game rendering which i guess is too hard for them to do and they dont want to admit it.
Fix the stealth cap, and the community can leave your permastealthing thieves in peace. Win Win? Nice compromise?

I highly doubt that this so-called bug can be fixed in the short future.
For rendering issue itself, it’s a game engine problem, I even doubt that whether the game engine was developed by Anet alone. It’s almost a mission impossible to fix the rendering issue from game engine level.
So the best / easiest way is just doing the same as in spvp, but it’s clear that Anet didn’t want to do that , coz if they want, it should have already happened longtime ago.
I get a feeling that this issue won’t be fixed in pretty long time (maybe 1 yr?) until everyone just get use to it and accept that it’s just a part of the game.

i got an thief , with over 10k WvWvW kills, so i gues i got some experience regarding thief in wvw…. that suply is hard to stealth cap , 3 necro/ elementarists can take you out of it easy.
It is true that some supply can be hold endless with stealth like the ones on top of Bay… or the one bottom of Bay…
I agree that an thief should not hold camp more then 25 seconds on stealth , but in the same time you should have an timer that you can cap points stealthed , thief’s heal is stealth
and i advice you do not do that mistake again … is better to run arround with melle weapons doing autoattacks .
An fair solution would be an smaller circle range 900 would be cool

Actually we did that earlier. I just didnt record it. You can see some pubs in the video still doing it.

Really like this idea, but more than likely, they will just make stealthed players not count towards capture, like in sPvP if they ever do anything

If I take ANY other class in the game and try to cap a point alone vs 20 people I will be dead in 3 seconds. Why should a large group need perfect timing and technique to beat thieves when no other class in the game is anywhere near that difficult to kill?
When are people going to figure out there’s a war going on?
Although there is a very easy way to kill thieves that do this and you missed many opportunities in the video to kill the thief, I believe this needs removed. I main a thief, and I still think this is a crappy tactic. It’s just boring and needlessly slows down a zerg for like a minute or less (assuming you’re not in a crappy zerg and you have people who know what to do). No reason this hasn’t been removed.
Just make it so that, just like in sPvP, you can’t capture points while stealthed. It’s a very simple fix and one that doesn’t require nerfing the thief.
There is literally no reason this needs to be in the game. It’s just an annoyance.

Nothing wrong with permastealth, what is stupid is that stealthed players can prevent capture.
Only thing they need to do is implement No capture/block capture while stealth. I believe they did this in spvp and it should be in wvw. Being a thief myself, i feel this is not right at all. Granted there are ways around this.

I know I’m no pvp genius, I won’t pretend to be, so I’m sure others make that look paltry, but I’ve seen one thief destroy 20 easily like Raincrow was saying. It isn’t about WHAT IS THE BEST METHOD. Fighting against a thief in pvp shouldn’t be more tiresome and lengthy than soloing a champ in pve. lol

A thief killing 20 guys? You can’t be serious.
If anyone here honestly thinks a thief can kill 20 guys head on, make a thief and try it for yourself. You won’t succeed. Preventing a cap, I’ve seen annoying thieves do that, but killing a zerg, not going to happen…
Make it so that staying in stealth longer than 10s makes it so that you cannot cap. In order to be able to cap again you must leave stealth for 3 seconds. Don’t actually touch stealth itself. And fix the culling issues.
To all those people think this is fair. You are dead wrong that is all. This is a low risk high reward technique and shouldn’t be in a game that is balance. Im not going to answer any troll post.
If you hadn’t included this last part I might have taken your post seriously and might even have agreed to a certain extend.
An opinion can’t be right or wrong so those people aren’t dead wrong, they just have a different opinion than you. And WvW is never going to be balanced and is designed to be unbalanced (and on several occasions advertized as such, already some time prior to launch) so that point is moot.

Other than you and your team displaying extraordinarily bad play, I don’t see an issue here in your video.
Next time plug a Hammer in, don’t randomly smash auto-attack, and hide in a camps corner. I have killed plenty Thieves who thought stealth made them safe.
If you at least had shown a video of a true proper perma-stealth Thief with Blinding Powder, preventing you from capping it for minutes while staying practically permanently invisible, I might have agreed with you, but I just cannot take your posting seriously.
Tbh if you’re vs a cloak and dagger stealther just gather up and have your guardians use hammer 5. They won’t be able to get in to stealth, and they’ll fall down trying and then you kill.
I’m of 2 minds about the stealth capping/blocking capping thing. It gives thieves something they can specialise in (supply camp raids/defence), and seeing as thieves are somewhat lacking (esp condi thieves like myself) in a siege, it’s nice to have something to be good at.
Just make it so that, just like in sPvP, you can’t capture points while stealthed. It’s a very simple fix and one that doesn’t require nerfing the thief.

well you guys need more training. im a thief and i often prevent capping until reinforcement is coming. Many people have learned to counter it and dont need to whine, they just hunt me and often enough kill me. hiding in the hous will not help you
hammer warriors are a pain in the lower backside.

there is this nice function which is called “TAB” when he pops up just use a stun or something comparable even if he goes invisible you will know where he standed and he will still be then on the same spot … attac this spot watch your fight log >_>’
