It would be great if we had an option to enter the WvW as one toon (perhaps your favorite WvW one) and then be able to level and develop other toons in PvE land while waiting.

I wonder how hard that would be to implement?

“Queue as” would need some interface implementations, which are otherwise unnecessary, as for example, the ability to display a list of all your toons, while you are logged in as a specific toon.
Manually switching characters while the queue wants to pop you in would make the queue slower.

Imho, the best way to implement it, is:
When you queue as a certain character, that character gets locked for that queue. You can then switch to another character and do whatever you want, and when the queue pops, you get the option to join as the “locked” character or join normally with your current character.

There are still some technical difficulties(proper transaction management when unloading one character and loading another) in switching characters on the fly, while simultanously connecting to a server and loading the map, but at least, this proposal would neither need UI changes, nor would it take an overall toll on queue times, aside from more people wanting to be in said queue because it’s easier to do.

There is no queue in GW2.

was just thinking this the other day.

queueing on my main for WvW. and then i’m like “done with daily, what do i do now. OH, i’ve been meaning to world complete on my alt! sweet. lemme just.. oh. wait. nevermind. queue.”

would certainly be a nice improvement to the queueing system if and when they can get around to it.

The “queue” system as it stands now…

Oh, there will be queues. Sure, you’re gonna be able to play WvW-like content while waiting but you’ll still have to “queue” for one of the real WvW maps. Those that count for the season.

If you don’t care about the season, you’ll be happy in the overflow map, I guess.

I usually go farm stuff while waiting. But it would be nice to be able to work on alts while you are in a long Q. Why not just tie the player account itself to WvW and once you are in, let’s you choose what toon you want to play ?
