we know that Anet loves its jumping puzzles and one time event and dungeons and what not. But, please keep WvW only PVP!

Yes, i am talking about the breakout event, i really wished Anet would have been more creative and come with a better solution than adding more and more NPC’s in WvW( give more power to people to turn things around rather than escorting another NPC)
WvW is already losing its charm due to unnecessary content(jumping puzzles, useless mobs all over like raptors),

I bought this game only for WvW and right now, WvW is only played by such people , to play with people and against them, not with NPC, if we wanted that, we could have just played the rest of GW2!

WvW population is declining really fast, Even tier 2 cannot fill 2 borderlands anymore,

Anet, please focus more on balancing the population and timezones and pressing issues like culling and bugs instead.

Giving players supply and boons when they’ve been pushed COMPLETELY off the map IS giving them more power.

Yes because adding one event would be so different then sentries, guards, supply camp supervisors, kraits, quaggan, ogres, dredge, hyleks, etc, etc. Seriously do you guys think having total domination of the map promotes more pvp? Not enough spawn camping or what?

And how is giving someone a damage buff different then giving them a npc that does the same amount of damage that the buff would institute? Is it the actual npc? Think of it this way, its just another one of those necro pets, does that make it easier?

Now you also suggest that WvW is losing its popularity because there are pigs and raptor around? Are you serious? Its a bit hard to tell if this is a joke or not. Do you honestly think if they got rid of raptors WvW would be fine? There are no other important or major issues?

Hate to break it to you pal, but endless zergs is less than enjoyable for many people. I need something to break it up, because as elite as commanders think they are swarming from one supply camp to another is, it gets real old real fast. Jumping puzzles, npc camps, and other stuff let me do something that requires a modicum of thought for a few minutes before back to mindless zerging.

The event is good for wvw. I do think they need to remove alot of the mobs in wvw maps though. Particularly in the southern areas of each server’s boarderlands. If nothing else make them yellow so they only join the fight when someone aoes them.

Oh dammit, the towers and covered with NPC guards and a keep lord boss!

I think it’s a great idea and may just encourage a struggling server to put more people out and make a match all the more interesting.

I’d rather they remove the Karma rewards from WvW but as for the break out event at first I thought WTF but then, when I sat down and really thought about it yes it’s a good idea even more so for the servers at the bottom of the table.
You have to note that they did state that the bust out would only trigger when the NPC has enough players around him and thus this promotes WvW for servers that TBH are not even bothered about WvW as well as giving players whom wouldn’t even consider WvW as part of their game play to just now and again experience it and the fun that can be had from doing WvW.

Breakout event is good idea, hope they also come with a Monthly World vs World were you should defend 20keeps, 20towers, 20supplycamps, take 20Keeps, 20towers, 20Supplycamps or something like that so they trie to force players to help defend not just run around chasing kills.

I don’t see the big deal.. Instead of all capping you just leave a team with a single tower.. Big whoop, no idiotic NPC commander, no free supply, no siege crap and no defensive boons.

Not really, PvP means player versus player, versus does not mean killing it means competing against.

WvW is PvP just like any other open world PvP / RvR, you compete against the other team to accumulate points, part of that involves combat, but it also involves objectives, organsiation, etc, it is all PvP, it is all competeintg against the other teams.

As for Anet, perhaps you should tell them they have put WvW under the wrong forum heading (“PvP Discussion”), at least accordng to you.

Any pve element in WvW should serve a purpose in the battle.

Letting the Grub, Spirit tree or harpy drop a possible siege plan isn’t enough.

It should be like the ogres, Hylek, dredge etc: it should have a direct effect on the battle.

Let the Grub damage walls nearby, let the Spirit stomp Speldan and mendans… whatever, let it have some effect in the battle.

These things draw players away, while at the same time you can’t blame players for doing what the dev’s put there in the first place.

Add bonuses when they are killed, bonuses that matter, have them drop supplies for each tower you hold, or whatever… just do something.

Wiggely, wobbely and other wombaty wabbity creatures…

Nope, it is PvP, nothing else.

The ‘v’ stands for versus, which means competing against, not killing. As it does in ‘PvE’, of which there is zero competiton against the “PvE” elements in WvW as in themselves they are all insignifcant, because they are balanced on the basis of opposing players being there to interfere.

Next people will be telling me LoL is PvE, because it has mobs and objectives in.

I think NPCs are an overlooked, under-appreciated aspect of wargaming. NPCs can be present 24/7 and can provide direction to a war that players may not be able to adequately do.

I love the Hyleks and the Ogres and the Dredge (I’d love the Quaggans if I didn’t hate water combat). That’s PvE done right and if anything I wish they were a little more sophisticated.

Where they go wrong are things like the centaurs or the giant grub — things that have nothing to do with WvW.

PvE can be an important part of WvW, but Arenanet needs to keep their eye on the ball. All NPCs should fulfill some role in WvW. Camps of NPCs that don’t contribute to the war should be removed or reworked.

I think it goes without saying that we need to wait to see how it gets implimented before passing real judgement, but on the surface it sounds like a good thing for the WvW community.

I’m not sure how it is on all servers, but I have to assume you all have varrying levels of the same situation that we do on Yak’s Bend, and that is that we are practically begging for our PvE community to come into WvW. We desperately want more map coverage, and that requires bodies.

When the WvW newcomer checks the maps, and sees some positive progress on the maps, it encourages them to come in and stick around a while. If they are seeing complete domination from the other servers, they say screw it, back to farming Orr.

So I think even if you look at it strategically, you want a servers forces spread across all maps if you can. If you get them to give up on one map, they concentrate on the others, making your positions on those maps the more tenuous. If all they have is thier spawn point on a map, most pugs are moving on to their borderlands or EB.

I think it could be a positive thing, we’ll see.

I think he means the amount of random mobs in the world can be reduced, and to that I agree. I also agree with your statement, that the mobcamps need to be reworked

I like this. Have the PvE events have an effect in PvP.
