I just came back to game about 2 weeks ago. When I left I was WPvP 100% of my time in game.

I am looking to transfer to a server that has good small group fighting and solo roaming. I am thinking a T3 server but I am unsure. The current server I am on is t5 and pretty much completely dead of WvW action.

Can you all recommend a good server with some dedicated WvW guilds?

t3 sounds about right, or tier 2 if you can get in. Never played below t2 so I cant say for sure

it also might be a good idea to mention when you play. some servers are dead at certain times.

For small group fights and solo roaming, honestly, you are better off in T3. (I am in T2) unless if you are OCX and SEA.

Specifically I am looking to become a member of a smaller tight knit NA based guild that enjoys WvW tactics over zerging all over the map.

I am looking at YB as I have heard good things but it seems to be at the top of T2 and I am worried it will just be Zerg on Zerg…

Unfortunately, our NA is pretty stacked (regularly queues 4 maps during reset). So it gets blobby. I play during OCX/SEA so you still get to fight roamers or group fights and there is no queue unless Anet turns WvW into a ktrain fest.

T3/4 for NA might be a better choice if you want to avoid queues

If roaming is what you like, lower tiers are a lot more interesting. T5 should be good for your need so I’m wondering if your server being “dead” represent a T5 thing so much as an unhealthy T5 server.

I would say that CD or SBI would be good fits for you. Mag is a great server, but has pretty heavy NA coverage based on what I’ve heard.

your prime timezone matters greatly here.

If you are Aussie or around that time, then SOS is best T2 server, if you are NA, then there are no good T2 servers. YB is “creeping arrowcarts” + some overstacking of T1 guilds, overall bad gameplay, SOS sucks cause realistically while there are a couple roamer / havoc guilds, there are only 2 major WvW guilds on it, one of them has a very bad screaming kitten bag commander that is unable to adapt to meta changes, the other is much better but lacks balls in tactical/strategic gameplay and both are not agressive enough. FA is kinda inbetween SOS and YB, they still runaway from fights way too much even when going against groups with outnumbered buff on them, quite literally, also they are shedding people and will be dropping, no idea how low they will go so if you transfer there, it may be kinda pointless.

Honestly I would look at T3, or unfortunately T1 if you can get in somehow. Just keep in mind that YB is getting artificially stacked and pushed upwards, while FA is dropping, so someone in T3 may get displaced and it may go down, instead of up, meaning, less people to play with, again.

Can we quit with the rumors about FA shedding people and dropping to T3 just because one guild left for Maguuma recently? FA is in a good place right now and is gaining guilds with both HART and KING recently transferring over. Then there’s oT and Syn going to start up raids within the week. These guys want a piece of the new transfers to YB from T1.

OP: NA in T2 was never a real place for good small-man fights. That kind of WvW occurred mostly off-hours in T2. You’ll want T3 and below for NA small-man.
