We all know you intended World vs World to be a game mode for casual playing. Where people enter and play for a hour and then log back out. There is a reason you made this available at level 2.

But haven’t you noticed the trend among the community? How players took this game mode and created fully fledged server forums, server VOIPs, and started to build communities. Some servers had alot of server pride and WvWers of their servers knew eachother by name. Huge guild groups made it the sole purpose of the game to play WvW. Guilds created their own Guild vs Guild options (look at gw2gvg.com) inside the game, fighting each other while server mates sat on the side line cheering. Guilds made a name for themselves in the game.

Not very casual would you say?

ArenaNet is now sitting on a depleted gold mine. You are the only game with a mode like this that the players actually tried to make their own. These are the people that still queue up all borderlands during prime time, but queues are getting shorter and disappears one by one every week now.

Match-making that we were told would “adjust itself in a couple of weeks” is still totally random it seems. Havent had a even fight since the match making system changed.

Options like Mortar Mastery and Repair Mastery is a slap in the face for any “hardcore” WvW community. Yes, WvW community exists, we are just getting fewer for every passing reset and update where we are neglected. “NEW WVW FEATURE: Mortar Mastery” is not what the community have asked for by a long shot. People want Molten Facility as a fractal? No problem. News on that hit just 3 or 4 patches after it got removed.

Mechanics in WvW still flawed. Numbers beat all. Crossing the map still goes in a blink of an eye. Maps still generic and smaller than a PvE explorable map even if devs have stated they can not be bigger due to some systems. Huge parts of the maps wasted on water, pve mobs and pve events. Do some statistics on where players travel and where they fight. Alter the maps with your findings!

I want to still enjoy WvW, I really do. WvW in GW2 have so much potential. You fixed the culling with a supeb result. Now it is time to really make it shine. 1 year have passed and WvW is in dire need of attention. WvW is not the casual playground you thought it would be. It attracted hardcore guilds and playergroups that press “B” the moment they log on to the game. Players that still have 11% map completion and is on the level 3 part of their story quests and have not a kittening clue what the Vigil is or when Jormag spawns.

I know this post will be removed by a mod, but will still continue to nag to get some attention around what WvW is about to become.

Ok here comes the return fire volley. Prepare yourself.

Arenanet is no longer sitting on the WvW topic.
As shown by the recent updates WvW has received much more attention than it did in the beginning.

I am one of those people you speak of. With no map complete and 2k hours clocked in WvW, my every bit of gw2 gametime.

This I believe has much to do with Mr Devons appearance on the scenes. Boy hes slick.
With the new “Mastery” trait lines, Dailys being made possible to complete in WvW and even our own vendors, so we never have to leave. I think they’re making good steps towards an overall “win” environment.
And of course numbers beat all. If you want to compare the game to reality only the kungkittenkid wins in a fight 1vs3. If they brought out some advantage to small man teams that made them OP I’d just split my pug zerg up and organise them across the map (easily done with party targets and cross party leaders) and all 10 small man teams swarm your handful with the same advantage which was suppose to save you.

So they were a bit slow off the mark, so what we lost the casuals who didn’t have any real heart in wvw (your gf will tell you all is good as long and she eventually gets there, cough wink) The players that survive today since headstart are the true titans among men. Who will be here till the end of time.

Hold onto your hats, because in a few years I expect WvW to be insanity incarnate. And you’ll see myself at the front of the queue.

in a few years? we have to wait a few years before WVW gets complex? 2 years and this game will get kicked in the teeth by camelot unchained, where RvR was born. This wvw will not make it in its current form. It needs to be radically improved. It needs more complexity, not 40+ show up, kick down the door in under 30 seconds with the 10 golem swarm, and take a fully upgarded keep. keep defenses are utterly horrible, and no one is rewarded for buildling siege, or upgrading a keep.

The way the game is set up, your actually at a disadvantage behind a keep wall, or on top of it, which seems ridiculous.

and the ranks? yeah, that did nothing for me…. you get a chest every rank with some random blue crap in it.. just cluttering up my bags. i use that crap to pay for my armor repair. Its so uninspiring, and boring. Its like they just made 2 maps, threw some towers and keeps in a geometric pattern, and created some random kitten siege engines. a 12 year old could have made up gw2 WvW.

You can’t use past tense on a future statement.

Also, you may want to check how many successful and/or good games Jacobs has made since he began to undermine DAoC nearly a decade ago (ToA launched 2003?). I believe the answer is: zero. Though he did make a terrible game in that time…

From what I have seen and the attention WvW gets, it feels like Anet never thought of the possibility that WvW would get the dedicated loyal PvP base of players that it did. But now it feels like they don’t even care. Given PvE, sPvP and WvW it feels like WvW will draw the short straw every single time. Example? They integrate WvW achievements into the standard daily whist sPvP gets a separate daily. Sure WvW is intended to be closely related to PvE. But come on. We need some independence from PvE. There is a large dedicated base of WvW players here. We are not PvE players. PvE player can go jump into WvW sure, but they can do the same with sPvP. WvW does not equal PvE!

Arenanet seem to have a ‘vision’ for WvW that’s greatly different from that of the broad consensus of actual players.
Further: they’re forcing the game into that model despite the protests in the forum.

I haven’t heard a single good word said about the AC mega-buff or about the ranking system, or about the latest offering of useless ‘gifts’.

Why are they being so obstinate about it? Is it making more money for them? There must be a reason.
