Poor match-up diversity
Be careful what you wish for.
It would be awesome. Even if it makes you not win it, it would bring more enjoyment
Brings enjoyment until you start getting continually stomped by servers with superior numbers or you are on the side face rolling everyone else and those sides decide not to play.
Your choices are:
1. Same uneven boring matches knowing who is going to come in 1st, 2nd and 3rd
2. Random matches which are even more lopsided and STILL knowing who is going to come in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
All the original system needed was to more quickly adept to population dynamics. Not wait weeks or even months before it would move a server up or down because it gained or lost a lot of WvW players.
Instead they just made it random, and threw all attempt at making balanced match ups out of the window.
Your choices are:

Chances are, when you have a draw in league points, that i’d be an interesting match-up, especially when that match-up hasn’t happened before. It might be more lopsided, but at least it’ll determine the final rankings of the season more direct. I’d rather have a shot at beating the servers that currently have the same amount of points, than having to hope for them to lose to other servers …

Not entirely. As outliers get further ahead or behind, if they suddenly explode or collapse they have quite a buffer to go through before they start moving towards the position they fit better.
I think everyone would agree, they’d like to enter into a match up with even numbers or semi even numbers when they log on. I don’t see why Anet just doesn’t create a system under the 3 factions which players can pick and choose whichever one they want to join when the log on.
The numbers should almost always be even at any given time anyone logs on. I don’t see how this can be a bad thing.

After 7 weeks where green always wins, blue is second and red is third, the point distribution would be:
1st 35
2nd 23
3rd 23
4th 21
5th 21
6th 21
7th 19
8th 19
9th 7
Which looks very similar to what you see in the 9 team leagues right now.
Only the match fixing in Gold NA strayed from what would be expected.
