WvW – Structure Upgrade Re-Work idea!
WvW – Art of War Guild Buffs & Keep Claiming Re-Work idea!
(edited by Luna.9640)
At this point i do not see any fix or way working out for World Vs World anymore so i think its time to implement the Megaserver system into WvW too.
I’m inspired for this idea seeing how everyone keeps queuing up 1st to Eternal Battlegrounds and than checking the borderlands for most of the not over-populated servers.
The other place i was observing was Edge Of The Mists – since there are no server but color affinity, there is almost always people who you can tag along ( and i don’t mean mindless karma trains).
Let’s face it ArenaNET didn’t do anything to boost things like server pride/scouting and defending.
Guild vs Guild (as feature not actual battle) never happened as it should – there was only some laughable attempts in face of this “space” inside Obsidian Sanctum.
Raid system (as feature) didn’t happen – which is the backbone for any organization.
Remember my goal with this idea is to make World vs World better place and finally do some sort of long-term improvement both for organized guilds and randoms.
Edit: Because people mismatch my idea with turning all wvw maps into EoTM alikes – sPvP is using color teaming since the beginning.
(edited by Luna.9640)
So you want to extend EotM to all true WvW maps? That is a big no, already enough K-train possibilities.. Please keep the borderlands and EB as they are, maybe work to get some population-balancing, but please NO megaservers in WvW..
Btw, ANet doesn’t have to do anything so you get server pride.. Or you have it, or you don’t, imho..
I don’t like this idea. WvW is VERY established now.
Not to mention that I do not see that much of a problem on T1 or T2 server matchups…
Can not really comment on lower tiers but I would think they are not as well off.
A simpler and most likely better solution would be to start merging some of the lower tiered servers together…
I think this is not a good idea, because how WvW players consider EotM as a k-train map.
A simpler and most likely better solution would be to start merging some of the lower tiered servers together…
I’m from T8/T9 EU.. Please no..
“Server pride” and all that (without repeating myself endlessly)
I like to play with the same ole trustworthy people every day. If i was to play with randoms all day every day ill stop playing in a very short time. So please no do not make wvw eotm style.
Guild vs Guild never happened as it should – there was only some laughable attempts in face of this “space” inside Obsidian Sanctum.
Laughable, what WvW noname is speaking here? Propably some random guy who zergs people with 80 or who would want to do that, but doesn’t have the people on his/her server.
In terms of server balancing, maybe and idea of putting several servers together in WvW. So two servers are the same color in the matchup (and they can change as well). As an example, WSR and FoW are red, then Underworld, Vabbi are green and two other server are blue. You could do that only in lower tiers, or you can put one small server together with a large server. With the last overpopulation could become a problem though if T1 severs are linked to smaller ones.

This idea has nothing to do with making EB and BLS to EoTM – because there will be very high probability K-Trains to end up in maps with one or organized guild raids – needless to say what happens when organized guild raid faces the unorganized k-train.
(I still remember what happened when RG once joined EoTM – giving example with RG since I’ve witnessed it myself.)
So with this new system there will be high chance K-trains face organized raids which will finally remove them and bring World vs Worlds to more competitive and skill/organized level game type.

I suggest you to re-read the part you quote i was referring to “Obsidian Sanctum Arena” as laughable as Guild vs Guild Feature compared to what other MMOs have and what GvG community was asking for in face of Clan vs Clan/Raid vs Raid/Guild vs Guild features. (i do not see any spectator mode, designated Arena only for Raid vs Raid with ladders and progression and all the stuff that GvG requires and will benefit from)
It’s even more laughable that you don’t know my name and have RG in your signature lol.

Oh, raid organization like we see every day in EotM?

My idea has nothing to do with EoTM – except the switching server names with colors.
The EoTM mentality wasn’t created by ArenaNET it was created by players.
The EoTM mentality wasn’t created by ArenaNET it was created by players.
Agree with that, but tell me how your proposal is not an EotM? No more servers, only colors..
And you have to admit: should WvW shift to megaserver, than the EotM mentality will seep in eventually..

Everything you see in EoTM was carried over from Eternal Battlegrounds – randoms that rally behind 1 tag K-training all day long.
The difference is that you cannot see Organized guild raids in EoTM or EB (happens sometimes) – because they cannot get their raid members inside and choose to go to borderlands and try to face other organized guilds.
With my idea when the RAID system with all it features becomes a thing the Raid leader will have the option to choose who to have in his raid and rally his raid to the freshly created maps.
There will be always a change K-trains to meet organized guild raids that can wipe them out and people will hopefully get rid of the k-train mentality and look to improve their skills get into more organized guilds or organize one themselves.
And as for K-train lovers – they will always have a maps with people that they can tag along and do their stuff (for low every server below gold tier) with the chance of meeting guild raids – which don’t happen in EoTM and EB right now and that is why this mentality exists.
I hope this makes it clear to all the people who compare my idea with EoTM just because it have the same color teaming like EoTM that it’s not what we’re looking to create here – idea is to solve the population problem without merging any servers or damaging existing server communities. (Merging servers is of the most damaging for existing communities thing that I’ve witnessed in some of my previous MMOs)
sPvP is using color teaming since the beginning too.

My server is more than just one guild. Our guilds often work together whether on the same map or hitting different objectives on multiple maps. My server is more than just the guilds on it, many people who aren’t in big guilds and can’t field more than 5 still play a crucial role in the success of my server. My server is more than just a server, it’s a community—a diverse community made up of people from around the world. Removing server affinity from WvW would only destroy this community we worked so hard over the last two years to make.

The server I’ve started playing this game changed 240+ guilds (both big and small) and god knows how many single players past 2 years. (I literary have friends and ex.guildies in every single server in Europe right now)
We’ve been in all 2 tiers (bronze, silver and gold) past WvW tournaments and multiple times in all 3 divisions out of tournament time.
Server pride an affinity died like year and more ago when ArenaNET hit the button named – MEGA. (mega events, mega server and megastuff.)
Yo guys visit our new server community forum green-color-wvw.eu.
EOTM isnt karma train because of the map design, but because its mega-server system where nobody gives a kitten because there is no “we”, just “me”.
There are plenty of solutions in this forum for the population problem and the ppt problem, they just have to be implemented.

The difference is that you cannot see Organized guild raids in EoTM or EB (happens sometimes) – because they cannot get their raid members inside and choose to go to borderlands and try to face other organized guilds.
It is difficult to take you seriously when your making disingenuous claims of this nature. We have 72+ servers across 3 regions and you sit here and claim to suggest you have the slightest idea of who can or cannot get into EB? How many times have you switched servers to claim to know what happens on them all?

I can speak of my own experience and claim what i have go through.
On top of that i’m part of one of the biggest Guild Wars 2 communities and heard many sharing same experience as mine.
This may be different in bronze tier.
So under your idea, a ‘raid leader’ can drag up to 25 people in to an already full map, hence having numerical superiority?
Or just organise 3 or 4 raid leaders in one map, who then pull everyone in?
Just asking how you think that will work…
Personally I’d be against any sort of megaserver or guild led solution to wvw.
One large, scalable map would be one solution, or have the main map as an expanded eb type map and then have 2-3 hour maps as an add on to the score where only player kills count and are very much based on ‘fort aspenwood’ type maps where capping and holding points award bonuses (but no siege, thanks!).
Sadly the servers can’t support sufficient numbers to give us what the game mode should be, but a start would be making it so no tower can be breached in under 5 minutes allowing proper defence to be organised, and granting bonuses to players the fewer players and objects they own on a map the better the bonus (like the bonuses for gw1).

Not full map but to new freshly created map – Mega-server system is based on maps which re-creates themselves once the current one is filled.
This way guild raids will have a better chance to get their raid into 1 map without 15 people stuck in queue for next 2 hours.

You post that in a manor in which it appear you are implying your opinion has more value because of a community you claim to be a part of. What community would that be?
You suggest you base your comments off of your own experiences, yet you claim raid guilds cannot get into EB which is untrue. As a JQ(T1) WvW player since the start, it is easily coordinated. As a general rule, smaller groups will often relocated when asked to make room for organized guild groups. Not all, but generally enough for my 30-40 man guild group to get in.
By the way, how does your multi map suggestion keep folks organized? I have a very large community outside of my guild (as do others I know) who want to stick together. How does your idea not destroy that?
What do you do when one of the 3 (teams?) has enough to populate 5 maps, and the other two teams do not? Do they sit in queue for hours? Everything about your suggestion, as far as I can see it, will fracture and destroy the the community of players that I have now, that can populate 4 maps and have a queue.

I don’t imply anything – I share my experience from past 2 years and what other people have shared with me and provide you all with my idea for improvement.
I can easily say the same for you that you imply stuff but i wont – instead can you provide with better idea or provide feedback on what part of my idea is bad and why ?
You didn’t red my post else you would know that for all of this to work there should be a working RAID system so you can carry your beloved community where ever you want – means rally your raid to your freshly created new map.
One of the main goals is to get provided with tools to better organize our guild raids/community raids because we don’t have any tools after more than 2 years what so ever and the state of World vs Worlds is getting worst every day.
(edited by Luna.9640)
Anything that brings WvW close to EOTM is bad, Anet is almost failling(sorry^2 to be toxic ,but in class balance and siege gameplay design they didnt did anything good so far).
To the OP, the only thing i agree to end is server affinity but an extent, even colors can have the same ending becouse they do not mean anything besides well being colors to different servers.
Let me do some asap brainstorming and get lost for a few momments:
imagine like several map’s being tied to servers for respawn areas if any one want megaserver to work, imagine a copy of tyria(a shredded/abandoned version of tyria) with a few abandoned castles and the mythical tyria capital being invaded and being divided in several districts beside the main castle, with amazing rewards.
Ok… with this system we could forget colors, ppt, hide in tower with siege tower to tower, etc, a system with alliances could be forged similar to GuildWars, guild/alliances, critical structures should have more value than normal keeps, like control parts of main city, sigil fort etc, with actual path for some special missions if guild could old for a few days the castle (fight dragon event or some cooler boss due guild position).
This would be fun to bring the 3rd great guildwars to another realm created by some leyline error due scarlet intervention etc….
within this i think i just invented a new siege game >_>
I don’t imply anything – I share my experience from past 2 years and what other people have shared with me and provide you all with my idea for improvement.
I can easily say the same for you that you imply stuff but i wont – instead can you provide with better idea or provide feedback on what part of my idea is bad and why ?
Yes you imply a great many things, you post almost nothing about your server and literally encompass WvW in its entirety in your claims. I only claim to speak for myself and my experiences on my server I played on, so no, you cannot say the same for me. For example you literally claim that “everyone” queue’s for EB first. I have never known that to be the case on my server. What happens on your server is not necessarily representative of every other server, yet you post as if it is.
As well, I did point out a massive flaw in your suggestion (other then projecting your personal experience on the entirety of WvW as a whole), but you ignored it and what I said and asked. My direct questions toward you and how it effect server communities went unanswered by you.

It’s my experience and my idea – we can talk about me but this topic is about my idea and what I’ve suggested based on my experience.
If you’re not here to provide any feedback than you can enjoy current state of World vs world and not be part of this discussion.
I don’t need trolls but creative people who can brainstorm with us here like other people who posted on this topic did – providing feedback or their own ideas.
so what happens to the establish server communities than?

Anet give rewards based how many gold medals players have. I have 62 gold medals so i probably get good reward.

I have. I specifically stated that on my server queues appear to work differently to me, and to my knowledge everyone does not queue up for EB first as you claim. You ignored that and failed to reply.
As well I asked multiple questions about how you see your ideas effecting specific aspects, and you have avoided answering them. I can only guess it is because the obvious answer damages your argument so you ignored them out of convenience, but that is simply my opinion.
I don’t need trolls but creative people who can brainstorm with us here like other people who posted on this topic did – providing feedback or their own ideas.
I see. So instead of answering my questions, and addressing the fact that I simply disagree because my experiences on a different server, vary from yours, you chose to continue ignoring my constructive questions and make personal attacks? How constructive do you feel you are being when doing that?
Since you prefer to make personal attacks rather then scrolling up and answering my questions, I will quote myself in the post I asked them in (that you conveniently ignored)

so what happens to the establish server communities than?
What about them ?
Mega-server system for WvW could be adjusted to prioritize not only your friend list, guild and party when placing you in a map but your server as well.
But this wont be needed if we get a working raid system where your community can just rally each other to few maps when become even better eliminating any free-rollers who do not contribute your community by actively participating.
It will improve the established communities and provide you with tools you can utilize in your daily raids where now you don’t have any tools than a colored tags.

What do you mean what about them? Your suggestion separates them and destroys the concept as a whole.
How would you adjust said Megaserver as you say? Friends list and party? So I am forced to either lose my community or hunt down everyone individually and “friend list” them? That’s not very well thought out.
Why do I need a “raid system” to rally my community that already works together? The ONLY reason we would need to rally together is because your suggestions will tear us apart. The fact that you literally asked “What about them” makes it very clear that you are not concerned with other players communities, and their attachments to them.
You post that in a manor in which it appear you are implying your opinion has more value because of a community you claim to be a part of. What community would that be?
The community I’ve mention have nothing to do with wvw mega-servers nor raid system and it’s part of my own game life so I’ll rather keep my private stuff – private lol.
how does your multi map suggestion keep folks organized?
I’ve answered this question multiple times in this discussion – the raid system will provide raid leader rally feature allowing raid leaders to create large raids and rally anyone to their freshly create maps since mega-server’s main feature is to re-create existing maps when they’re full.
I have a very large community outside of my guild (as do others I know) who want to stick together. How does your idea not destroy that?
The answer is same as to the previous one.
What do you do when one of the 3 (teams?) has enough to populate 5 maps, and the other two teams do not? Do they sit in queue for hours?
There wont be any queues – i suggest you to go read the information about how the mega-server system works in general.
Mega-server system’s main feature is to re-create filled maps so you get on a freshly created map and before you ask if rest of your raid/friends or guildies are in one of the filled map you simply create raid and rally them to your fresh map so you can be all together – No waiting in queue or having to deal with trolls or make death threats to people to make them leave the map.No more empty maps on your raid night. No more having to deal with trolls – you simply jump to new map and continue having fight fighting in battlefields.
Waiting for your next list of questions. (obviously you’re here to ask rather than suggest or brainstorm – but thx anyway)

So a community for you mean a map where you can play with your folks ?
A map which can be full due to pugs having holidays or partly full separating your community and forcing part of you to play in border 1 other in border 2 and some in eternal battlegrounds.
The current system is separating you while my idea is to provide you with tools and system to be able to play with your folks when ever you want.
-Those problems are eliminated with the raid system I’ve mentioned since you can take to your map anyone you want – no more queues, trolls and large guilds transfering to your server to fill 1 of the maps for themselves.
The raid system and mega-server system will remove the burden of permanent maps like EB and the 3 BLs – there will be always a map where you can have your guild/community raid no matter what when ever you please.
(edited by Luna.9640)
You replied earlier that your claims here carry more weight because, and I quote:
“i’m part of one of the biggest Guild Wars 2 communities and heard many sharing same experience as mine.”
This suggest you are speaking for others yet you refuse to say who, and that you feel your community has more value.
How are my server regulars going to play together regularly? When you were asked how they would be organized, you say ’raid leader" this and “raid leader” that. Am I now a raid leader instead of a commander? How do I group up with those solo players or small guilds that I do not recall everyone until I see them? Do I have to have all 2,000 players I may want to see again on my “friends list”????
how will there not be queues? Unless you are just randomly and all hodge podge like, into a map on random sides, there absolutely will be a queue. Otherwise I am being “forced” to play against the players that I want to play with. Forced by your idea that you keep defending.
If my server AND FREINDS (server A) , have 200 players on, and (server has 20 online, and (server C) has 50 on. The only way your system balances anything is to rip my server AND FRIEND apart to throw them together with those they enjoy competing AGAINST.
Now tell me, in this scenario, how my friends get to play together, under your suggestion, in an even match? Without fracturing our community that is?
A map which can be full due to pugs having holidays or partly full separating your community and forcing part of you to play in border 1 other in border 2 and some in eternal battlegrounds.
Some of my best scouts and closest in game friends are pugs who run in very small WvW guilds or guilds in which they are the only ones who play WvW.
Stop insinuating they are bad for not being a part of a large guild. As well, drop your eletist ego for a second and pretend that pugs can know commanders, players and others outside of their guild. They can know each other for goodness sake.
Have you ever been online at an hour when no one else in your guild is not in WvW? Didn’t that make you a pug to everyone else who was online in WvW at the time? should you be ostracized and punished for that reason alone?

Your not getting it.
What if we do not always know who we want? How many players on your server who are not in your guild or not on your friends list, do you run into and help or get help from, and go ……………………………………..“oh yeah, I remember that name, I like this guy, he always helps me out”…………………………………Now unless I have this guy in my guild or friends list, I will never see them again, because your system wedges a gap between the players I am in guild with or “friends listed with” and those I play with regularly.
How do I maintain play time as team mates with those guys under your system when they are not on my guild or friend list?

Like I’ve said in my one of my previous post the mega-server system can be made to prioritize your server when placing you in a map so your that players which you can’t even remember their names can be placed on your map too.
Or you can just create community guilds like most of communities and rally each other to the map you feel like playing on. (I’m surprised you don’t have those actually).
You can’t play against your server – mega server system will place your server under one color only (similar to sPvP or EoTM coloring system) so you have nothing to worry about.
I’m a scout myself and i play with 3-4h difference from most of people in my server and our community/communities i don’t mind anyone who don’t know me to call me pug or random – with current system which have the server transfer feature there are new people on my server every other days so i do not expect everyone to know me so i do not mind – we get to know each other in few days and fight together.
-Those problems are eliminated with the raid system I’ve mentioned since you can take to your map anyone you want – no more queues, trolls and large guilds transfering to your server to fill 1 of the maps for themselves.
For the 4th or 5th time since I’ve started this topic – the system can be made to prioritize players from your servers when placing them on maps when joining WvW – same as PvE Mega-Server system prioritize friendlist/partylist and Guildlist 1st.
The people who you played with will still play with you – Mega-Server system is there to fill the gap and solve the POPULATION problem like I’ve wrote not to send you to anonymous drunks meeting with random people.
You people have to understand that the 2 systems i have as ideas are meant to provide you with tools so you can play together without being burdened by queues, time or people with bad behavior.

this is just a bad idea man, population problem will be worse when nobody is in wvw anymore because its turned into EoTM. You seem to have some personal issues with wvw and thats understandable, there are a lot of issues that need to be worked out, but this is not a good idea by any means. If your getting burned out, take a break, its ok to.

It’s okay not everyone is capable of having opinion to provide feedback aiming for improvement.
Thanks anyway.
many of us have posted improvement threads, only time will tell. In the meantime just try to have fun with it as best you can, and if a break is needed here and there, dont let yourself get burned out.
Where are the players coming from then, to fill those so called gaps?
Why do you assume servers do not have community guilds? Simply because they know there are players they want to see again who have not joined the guild.
You do realize guilds have caps right?
Have you ever been to PvE? The servers there do not get people in the same map simply because you claim they are “prioritized”. Thus, questioning that is extremely reasonable. players in the same server, guild, and even group, very very often do not even get in the same map without having to finagle the system ans spam “join member” over and over to get in the same map.
Why do you falsely assume players want tools to allow us to play together. As of now all we have to do to play together is log on. Why should I be required to use tools to find folks I have a good history with already?
If it is already common knowledge that the PvE, mega server system, almost never works as you claim, why would we want to move it to WvW?
Have you ever tried to go to EotM while in a group and not be on the same map or team? It happens as often as not. Yet your sitting here suggesting it will work in this case?

Why are you alienating and attacking anyone who disagrees with you?
Sure seems to me that ………………..

This is both feedback AND having an opinion for improving it it. This displays how not to make it worse. As I see it, preventing your idea from destroying it is an improvement to your ideas.

I can play the question game too
Why do you like to be stuck in queues while your friends play ?
Why don’t you add those folks with who you have good history as your friends ?
Why do you think people don’t want any tools to help them improve World vs Worlds ?
Why do you assume PvE Mega-servers don’t work as i’ve claimed ? Can you provide me with any data on that ?
Have you ever tried all the things you imply or assume related tho this ideas ?
What do you do when there is no one on the borderland maps and Eternal Battlegrounds have queue ?
What is your approach towards a new guild which transferred to your server and do not want to be part of your server community ?
I have a very long list do you have time to answer ?
I can play the question game too
Yeah, but the difference is, you ignore mine because your answers bring the flaws in your suggestion to light. At least that is what I believe. Hard to say since your not answering them
Why do you like to be stuck in queues while your friends play ?
Not a problem I have. There is generally one map without a cue. If they are all cued, it is generally relatively short, but I much prefer a few minutes of queue time to your idea of forcing me to jump through hoops to get on the same server/map as those I have developed comrodery with.
Why don’t you add those folks with who you have good history as your friends ?
Do you know what the cap is on friends list? Some I simply had no need to add because I saw them daily. Adding folks to a friends list in the heat of battle and motion of map roving is difficult. A unnecessary step when i see them every day. And both them and myself occasionally take time off.
Why do you think people don’t want any tools to help them improve World vs Worlds ?
I never suggested anyone doesn’t want tools to improve WvW. I simply suggested that I do not want you over complicated system that forces players to require toput effort into using tools in order to play with those that they play with now, and requires no tools beyond logging in.
Why do you assume PvE Mega-servers don’t work as i’ve claimed ? Can you provide me with any data on that ?
I do not assume. It is common knowledge. Would you like some recent you tube channel links that verbilize it and go into detail explaining it? I have 10 or so of my own from trying to get coordinated parties into triple trouble or Teq. As well as videos displaying how a group can enter EotM at the same time, and even though from the same server, guild, and even in the same party, they do not get in the same map together on the same team.
So yes, I can provide you with tons of evidence if you are actually that far out of the loop. Sorry, I gathered that anyone fighting such a hard fight for their idea, as you are, would be aware of the facts and functions first.
Have you ever tried all the things you imply or assume related tho this ideas ?
What are you referring to specifically? How many times have you tried them yourself?
What do you do when there is no one on the borderland maps and Eternal Battlegrounds have queue ?
I do not encounter this problem. I general see a fairly even spread. In my experience we tend to use common sense among guild leader and spread the major guilds out between BLs and EB reasonably equivalent. At the very least, we go for one experienced pin per map and one inexperienced pin to shadow them, on each map. Their respective guilds go along with them, and we let the smaller guilds and solo players distribute themselves in the mix. As a general rule, this developed a culture of this early on and it tends to happen organically now.
What is your approach towards a new guild which transferred to your server and do not want to be part of your server community ?
Not sure this is ever a problem. 99% flat out want and enjoy the coordination as far as I can tell, and the other 1% paid for the game with their own money, so they are entitled to play as they wish, and we work around what they are doing in a small way.
I have a very long list do you have time to answer ?
Well yes. As is evidenced by this post in itself.
If you think that is a long list, you should come to work with me one day. That is nothing compared to the systems trouble shooting list I walk into every day.

I’ve noted your feedback right here.
Thank you,carry on.
I would love to carry on, thanks for asking.
I would like to start by mentioning again, that not only have you made a clear effort to avoid some of my earlier question, you ignored the ones in the post you just quoted. I made a conscience effort to offer detailed and honest answers. Why are you refusing to extend the same courtesy to myself and some others in your own thread? I would settle for a answer to the question(s) in my latest post my friend.
