Hi,

Just curious if the Dec. 14th patch made or broke people’s preferred ranged profession? With the Warrior receiving no changes, Engineer grenade nerf, Thief pistol buff, and Ranger pet’s AI improvement… what do people consider the best (excluding the clothies)?

Currently, I only have one 80, my P/P Thief. I would like to get an alt to 80, but it’s so difficult to pick one and stick with it. As a casual it takes me a while.

ANet’s design philosophy notes don’t help to make the decision clear. Warriors are only suppose to do descent range damage, while Ranger’s should dominate assuming their pet is working. Engineers on the other hand are suppose to be versatile, but lack teeth as a result.

ANet also mentioned that AoE needs to be toned down, so does this mean that Engineers bore the brunt of that change, and come January all the other classes will get their turn?

Anyway, I’m curious to hear what others think, and to hear what people feel is the leading range profession given the game’s current state?

Still a lot of thieves. Thieves everywhere. Smart thieves, who can actually kill decent pvpers have changed to P/D condition builds and such. The ones who aren’t so gifted in pvp… are staying D/D and being kited forever.

Hmm… well, thanks. Although, I wouldn’t consider P/D or D/D Thieves range.

I was already having difficulty playing my Engineer. She was only up to level 25, but it seemed even with that much room to grow, she was looking to be fairly useless in WvW. I was trying not to whine about her being underpowered, assuming I wasn’t playing her correctly, but when I read they’d nerfed Engs again, the third time since launch, I gave up. Now I have a shiny new guardian. Thief shortbow/pistol or Warrior longbow/rifle are the best distance. Their bow skills are better to me than the Ranger’s.
