This is for solo roaming in WvW.

Recently I feel crushed by all the new elite specs on my power necro.
They either have high sustain (druids, heralds, scrappers)
or they have high survivability and burst (dragon hunters, daredevils)
or they are untouchable and chain burst (chronomancer – they just F5, throw out all their bursts, reset, and throw out all their bursts again)

I switched to power reaper and saw slightly improved performances against some of them…but some like the chronomancer still gives me a major nightmare.

Are there any power reapers out there who is seeing decent success solo roaming in WvW?
If yes, may I see your build please.

PvP guide, but fairly easy to swap to WvW. Take Axe/Focus instead of staff though for wvw.

Reaper is very versatile, your play style will matter more than anything. This build is like a bruiser build, similar to Olaf or Wukong in LoL.

The strength of the build I posted, is decimating defenses with Death Perception, allowing you to take a full valk/cav mixture at 100% chance to start off with.

I’ve stopped solo roaming recently, not entirely sure how successful I was roaming, I could win most 1v1-1v3 depending on classes and skill levels but mostly I would just be getting zerged or running around empty maps.

Unless your in a low tier, Its highly unlikely that anything is viable for solo roaming apart from thief or maybe PU max stealth mesmer..

There is too much zerging and the fights are too unreliable.

You used to be able to roam on the borderlands but thats gone and not coming back… so really your only option with solo roaming is low tier (Deserted) or high tier stealth abuse.

Simple answer; you are melee, they are not. You loose.

You can work around it a little bit, but what is supposed to be your strongest feature will ultimately cripple you against 80% of enemy avoidance roamers. The Reaper is also unique in terms of an elite since it totally change the class mechanic rather than build on it. If you want to do roaming Reaper, I recommend building for full range (condi with scepter/staff or power with axe/staff) and only use the shroud as utility and damage absorption, dont rely on it to do the actual damage.

Reaper is a good solo camp capper and small group tank but meh for solo roaming vs players. You are better off with ye olde Necro in that area. Tracking shots ftw.

But this is just IMO, others experiences may vary.

I agree with Dawdler, Reaper lacks mobility and range to be great roamer.

Haven’t really solo roamed, but have duo’d with another reaper. As long as we don’t get zerged down we can win some tough fights. There’s just no getting away.

I solo all the time with my reaper. I can run around a BL for hours and never even come close to dying. Of course, I never see an enemy player and am only taking camps and shrines or what not, but I am certainly doing it solo.

I think I could solo a bl with a naked character wielding white scrap weapons.

I had a problem with that until I insta leveled a norn necro and used the leopard form elite for escaping.

Unfortunately Anet locked the new specs behind a grind so you can’t insta level a norn reaper, and they killed roaming so you wouldn’t find any good fights anyway.

the BLs lack fights…its mostly empty of roamers even on prime time tier 2…
but EBG still got some left…
