Q:
First of all, this thread is to thank Anet devs for the nerf on crit damage. It is unimaginable to get killed by power user in 4 second while at the same time a condition user can kill me in 6 second. That 2 second differences really justify why power/zerker stats need to be nerfed!
As 90% of the player base are, I am a dire perplexity user and I am not happy on how my stats distribution are. In order to get the best damage output as a condition user, I only need to concentrate on one stats which is condition damage. This leaves me being able to get full vitality and toughness to maximize my survival ability. It is so under powered to being able to get maximize damage while getting maximize survival ability as a condition user!
While looking at power/zerker build, to get the best damage output one need to focus on 3 stats which are precision, power and crit damage. This leaves them no room for defensive stats, and that is overpowered! Hence, the future nerf on crit damage is superbly a genius move Anet devs, bravo!

It’s all balanced out though by p/d thieves with Quip. You can’t help but feel you were masterfully outplayed.

T-minus a few minutes to incoming hate from people who are too busy/lazy to read your post.
The nerf is probably more to lower the damage back down post ascended. Power gains more from those increased stats. This should help balance it out. Ascended was just a bad idea.
Dire perplexity Condi spam is build only reserved for top 20 skilled players of skill.
I try to Condi spam 100% hp ele, but he is immune to Condi!!! OP!!!11111. Ele tickles me with scepter 1 lightning, constantly critting and constantly draining my hp!!11! How do I beat ele? OP!
Engineer is the bane of my existence, I have almost won the fight, my superior dire perplexity skill level beats his dire perplexity skill level, he’s at 20% HP, my conditions leave his body, I CAN NO LONGER APPLY!!11!1! Automated Response turns him into 30/30/30/30/30 godlike superbeast, and I lose fight to his superior dire perplexity skills!
Warrior use berserker stance! I have no choice but to log out, because berserker stance is 24/7 condition immunity with no cool down!!11!! Nerf warrior! OP!!11!

(My character has 2.8k armor and 23k hp as a medium armor class, and still down in 2 seconds. If I don’t pop invincible after the first 10k backstab I’m downed for sure.)As 90% of the player base are, I am a dire perplexity user and I am not happy on how my stats distribution are. When you face a thief that does 10k damage per backstab with 25 stacks + guard buffs + food, and down you in 2 seconds, say that again please. Also imagine that thief x 3 or x5 doing this to you. (Yes, Mag does that ALL THE TIME.).
Btw, don’t mention some of the lackluster newbie thieves that you bested, talk about those stronger ones that spike you down in 2 seconds please. (usually rank 250+ at least) They go all the way out to achieve that absolute maximum damage and that’s how it turns out. (Those lackluster thieves probably don’t use food at all, and no guard buffs of course.)
Overall I’m happy about the power build nerf. It not only solves thieves’ maximum damage issue, but also make hammer train and ele meteor a little more manageable in zerg fight.
As a side note, condition need to take account of condition duration to maximize efficiency too. As a result, we lose some survivability when we spec for rune that add condition duration, as well as lock into food type that increase condition duration. (While the other way round eat -40% condition food to increase survivability)

While I agree that conditions have several faults (and the original post being slightly amusing), the direct damage reduction won’t affect us WvWers (roamers, zerglings, raiders, etc) that much, because the actual effective damage done even with full berserker builds is much lower compared to e.g. dungeon speed run builds (which usually involve banners, offensive party auras, offensive buff food, etc). In WvW most balanced builds cannot utilize all of that stuff, which makes an overall reduction of critical damage only hurting for those who rely on few big numbers instead of being able to deal with enemies fighting back (zerker GS warriors with stupid survivability and annoying D/P milquetoasts come to mind). Yes, if we don’t adapt those will take longer to take down even on my more balanced builds (which already utilize some active and armor- and HP-pool-defense).
One thing is never considered, tho: If an enemy is less threatening (i.e. less direct damage) I can slightly reduce the investment in stats which raise my defense against direct damage (i.e. more power, more healing power or more HP), which ultimately help me to deal against condi builds as well.
There are several issues with conditions right now: namely spammability, auto-procs, immobilize-stacking, perplexity runes (still), torment, etc. Overall conditions provide too much utility and damage (especially with +duration food) for low investment, even in group fights, which this game is all about.
This stuff has to be fixed, yes; Once the feature patch is delivered we have to continue to make noise. I don’t think intruducing ferocity / reducing overall +crit damage is a bad thing, though — imho it is a good step even for PvP in WvW because it levels the ground between builds which require you to feed on defensive stats and their biggest offenders, which usually only needed to push offensive stats without investing into defensive ones. (Also: Sigil of Generosity + Battle on ele, anyone? )
