By “precursor and better” I mean the relative value of loot (not the color coding/ranking Anet gives to them.) Some items (like skins or stuff that sells for $$) is what I mean by “better.” The most rare of drops. I know Anet claims MF doesn’t affect chests, but from what I’m seeing – it is (or maybe that character of mine – and no other character of mine – is really lucky with RNG.) How many times do they tell us something is this way or that (or fixed) when it turns out not to be as stated.

And to the person asking about the gear I use, full exotic set of Explorer’s/Opal for armor/weapons/trinkets/etc with the superior MF runes and Sup. Sigil of Luck. Also, The Golden Lotus for my Amulet.

I play wvw since 4 months. A lot. Almost 95% of my game activity. On 3 chars. During the last months i dropped maybe 3-4 yellow items.
Today i found a 80 lvl exotic item in the chest when i reached a new rank. I hope this wasn’t a miracle but a sign, that things are turning better.

The siege is nice but I’ve already got all I need, and who really needs even more badges?

Could be we get laurels from these chests? That would be useful.

Does character level affect the equipment level you get?
I mean, if I play with a level 40 character I can’t get a good exotic / precursor or it’s the same as a level 80 char?

Honestly, I’m not gonna complain about free loot handed to me for doing nothing more than I’d already be doing anyway. Without ranks and chests I’d still be doing exactly what I’m doing.

While I was on FABL last night, someone pulled Dawn out of a chest.

I don’t know what people are complaining about, I got an ascended trinket from my first chest. I’m sure that greens and maybe rares will be much more common, I think it’s better than what we had.

Rare = chance at ectoplasm, so I’d rather the rare than the silver.

or you can buy that ectoplasm with the silver. instead of a ‘chance’ of ectoplasm, that’s guaranteed ectoplasm.

With the boosts to WXP gain, I got one level in 3 hours of play tonight, which is about my average time in WvW. I didn’t say they were a bad idea. Just that it wouldn’t hurt to have rare be the minimum quality rather than green. I just got about 10 rares running around southsun for an hour or so. A guaranteed rare per WvW chest wouldn’t break the economy.

I also have no idea where that crap about making PvE players play WvW came from. The part you quoted was about the disproportionate usefulness of the rewards for those who have multiple characters and/or don’t zerg, as compared to those whose primary activity in WvW is zerging on a single character.

I also thought that every chest would contain at least 1 rare and I thought that was a little generous of ANet. However when I read the patchnotes and it said Masterwork, I was so disappointed, I knew that at least 90% would contain useless greens now. I’m hoping they tweak it a little bit so that maybe one in three or one in four give a rare.

Dragon/boss events have 1-2 rare each/day. Each event takes about 5-15 min. So let say if you do all 8 of them /day. It’s like 8-16 rares for an avg of 80 mins. There are wait time for each event to occur, so let’s say add another 80 min for the wait time, which is a total of 160 min (~2.5 hr) for 8-16 rares. So roughly 12 rares in 2.5 hour. (roughly XD)

So, if you play 2.5 hours in WvW casually, you probably will gain 2-4 rank levels depending on the fights. So 2-4 chests. I think a guaranteed rare in each chest is not so bad in terms of comparsion to boss events. But unlike boss events, there is no limit in WvW play time, so people will cash more time in WvW. A lot of pve people will come to farm and expect WvW maps getting queued. And your supply will be out of control. :P

I am sure Anet has thought about this so they didn’t want to guarantee rares. I am just glad there is a chance to get precursors no matter how little chance that is. :P

I’ve currently 5 greens 1 rare, but for me the best bit is the siege + the silver. It seems about 15s average, so when I get 2 levels in a night (with the backlog of chests), I’m getting 4×15s = 60s + 4 pieces of siege. I’m actually gaining gold instead of losing it in wvw. I upgrade things frequently, so that’s where about half my money goes to.

I know people are complaining, but I think this is a no nonsense way of rewarding wvw, and the double-chest thing is a market-friendly way of not crashing the economy.

I say ‘decent’ to ‘good’ remedy IMHO.

idk why you guys are complaining. Last night i entered WvW with 10 silver and played for maybe 3-4 hours and left with 5g.

I remember when you would make 2g every 5 hours in WvW flipping maps. And you would end up spending that 2g on more siege lol.

All i did was flip camps and brawl it out when we got a chance lol. the norm. for roaming groups.

So I like this new system lol. Making average gold just messing around in wvw? lol sign me up.

I got an ascended ring from a rank <10 chest. Wish it was a precursor tho.

Witnessed one person get Spark from their chest, credible person so I believe they actually did.

And Ive seen at least 10 asc items come out of chests before

Doesn’t prove kitten, all it proves is thakittens in your inventory. And the guy that posted ascended ring, that proves you can get ascended gear. Good example how to prove something.

I have opened over 200 chests now and still yet to get an exotic or an ascended, let alone a precursor. I’ve only had about 12 rares, the rest have been greens. I got a few rares early, now I haven’t had one for a really long time. I don’t really want a precursor, but some ascended sure would be nice so I can gear up.

I won’t be expecting my pre-cursor to drop any time soon…

So far think I’m rank 71-72 have got Max 10 rares(probably less) and 1 exotic that was like 2 gold…as said the free siege and about 15s(for upgrades and siege) is quite nice
