Proof of heroics/scroll of heroics soulbound?
Seeing as they were primarily introduced as an alternative way to earn HPs for your characters to get their elite specs, the idea is that you should be progressing on that character in order to get that specialisation. I realise it’s something that a lot of people miss/complain about, but it’s a lot like asking why you can’t just repeat HPs in PvE on one character to give you points for all of your characters.
Idea is you should be earning them on the toon that is benefiting, which I partly agree with. If you don’t play in WvW on a toon you should be earning HPs on it elsewhere.
The other side of this is some professions are at a large disadvantage without elite specializations and it takes a long time to earn them this way. The points are also combined so it is possible to accidentally earn them on a wrong character.

Its totally BS imo.
They want you to play to progress, but stacking “Tome of Knoledge” is a thing and those are account bound. So u can pretty much level 0 to 80 in 10 seconds but then u have to grind to get the new specialisation?!
E-sport here E-sport there…in spvp u dont have to farm to unlock the new spec.If u wanna play “competitive” its free and instant. But if u wanna wvw u either follow K-trains untill u get proofs of heroics needed or you go back to pve and grind there…
….BS.
I’d be fine with them being soulbound if it was at all viable to unlock an Elite spec with them.
I farmed EotM on a new character with a birthday booster on to see how long it would take to fully unlock the Elite spec that way and it took around 10 hours (took off a few hours of running a poor map).
Now, a typical run on the HoT maps (only doing 100% Verdant Brink, 80% Auric Basin and then whatever that third map was until completing (around 40-50% if I remember correctly) would take me just over an hour to fully unlock an Elite spec from scratch.
It takes around 10x longer doing it in WvW (EotM, too, so it would take longer in normal WvW), it’s not viable.
Who does it affect if someone unlocks their Elite spec using another character to farm the Heroics? Nobody. They could be unlocking it as they have fun and play instead of grinding on a character they don’t enjoy without the Elite spec.
It was a huge step backwards for alt-friendliness when they made them soulbound.
All of the specializations should be available in WvW to any character on entry to WvW. That is to help provide a fair and level playing field.
If sPvP players don’t have to do anything to get these then WvW players should get the same benefit. WvW is large scale PvP and not PvE.
This is just another let’s foist PvE stuff on WvW players issue. The problem is the devs attitude towards WvW players, not the players themselves.
If people want to earn the specializations for PvE then they can do so, in PvE.

Whilst that is true but then you compare it to tomes of knowledge where they are account bound and anyone can simply spam them get from 0 to 80 in a few seconds worth of clicking. For WvW as it stands atm not having elite specs puts you at a great disadvantage, needing to grind hours in PvE or even longer in WvW just to gain access to those skills is plain stupid.
If one character has earned a lot of proof of heroics they should be able to use those earned points across the all their characters. Binding them to one character because with the excuse that you “should play it to earn it” is stupid. What difference does it make if players earned their Proof of heroics on one character other than to annoy those who decided to roll a new character and now have to grind hours.
As it stand right now WvWer either have to grind ages on WvW or be forced to spend hours running around on a map for HPs. Running around getting HPs doesnt make you better at playing the character, waiting ages for others to help you get the HPs are even more stupid. So I dont know why some people think it’s okay to justify bad game design.
Imagine if they forced you to grind out your HPs and levels in PvP…How much of a “even playing field” do you think that creates?
