Note: Personally, I am fine with leaving it as is, but since a large portion of the playerbase seems to have issue with ‘night capping’, I figured I would try at a solution based on some recommendations I’ve seen from others (changing interval based on wvw population).
Scoring interval = 10 + 5*(sqrt(2000/x) – 1), where x = max(80,[current wvw population])
Some examples:
2000 players = 10 minutes (all of wvw full)
1000 players = 12 minutes
667 players = 13.6 minutes (one server full, other 2 servers deserted)
250 players = 19 minutes
80 players = 30 minutes
I’ve seen other players suggest alternating the scoring interval for off-peak vs on-peak, but that seems vague versus having a formula. This formula would allow a full server to still gain points at a reasonable rate even if the other 2 servers had no presence at all (as low as ~14 minutes). The scoring interval would update every time it did a tally. A side bonus would be that you would tell how full wvw was based on the scoring interval.
Any thoughts? Flames?
