Putting All Your Eggs in Your Yaks
i like how you figured out through statistics that constant, unhindered supply routes can produce reliable upgrading.
and no it is not new that yaks are the single deciding factor whether you have upgrades or not, that has been the case since launch. no supply gets to tower, no upgrade finishes.
what is new, is that supply isn’t needed at all to begin, and continue upgrades. (this is a problem i think, that’s not how it works. You cannot build a wall without a continuous supply of wood or stone. instead of a supply flow, we now have..time.)
As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.

The system at launch was that you need a) Yaks to put supply in b) Supply not being drained out by players c) Someone running there and paying money to start the upgrade, d) workers being alive. That is 4 factors.
The coming system does not require supply, workers, or a player starting an upgrade.

i think we can agree that’s a terrible system.

I think relying only on yaks just simplifies the matter for the better. Currently all it does is slow down upgrades. Now they are critical and also intuitive, and as someone that regularly bashes their face against reinforced doors with 2-4 people with plenty of time to /sleep, I think I like it, because I do not think a karma train that just ran over this tower recently deserves that to keep the tower for that long.
Telling players not to drain supplies was a nightmare and supported griefing, and honestly I can’t really recall the last time anyone targeted workers. Asking people to pay for upgrades in a mode that was so gold scarce is a bad idea and puts the burden on a few players.
What I disagree with definitely is escorting a yak not being rewarded, though some would argue there basically is no reward. I’m also not sure about having the camps themselves being reliant on yaks making their destination.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

I do believe A-Net is trying to frustrate WvW players so much that we all give up and go watch GW2 PvP e-sports.

Theyr e-sports is dying bad.
Anet made a bad decision to choose pvp over wvw for e-sports
E-sports happen because of a huge following built by players themselves. A game company cannot magically decree an e-sport and have it succeed. If WvW were done RIGHT though, this game might grow again. Not holding my breath.
