PvP Help
It is because you are lv 46.
Just get to lv 80, get exotic gear and 70 trait points, then you won’t die so much, and do more damage.
dont answer that haha ill just look myself. i need to learn
First you are upleveled.
Second, holding againts lvl 80 thief (maybe glasscannon) for 2 – 3 shootted is still amazing. (although there are few people who can down these thieves in their upleveled character).
If you want to check how bad/good your pvp, go to SPvP, try to holding 2 – 3 people for at least 1 minute without moving out from circle of capture point.
how does 1 get exotic gear?
I will anyway.
Craft it, buy it on the TP, or buy it from Orr with Karma. Ascended jewels come from fractals, laurels, and guild missions.
Also it sounds like you’re being ganked by thieves. For now avoid roaming solo. Follow a havok squad, or join the ranged back section of a zerg. Once you hit 80, just keep on keeping on and learn to play. Rangers can be amazing if you build em right.
Mostly what everyone else said so far.
But don’t think that you can’t contribute to WvW if you’re not lvl 80 yet! Thieves thrive on lone runners and you can expect to be stealth stomped in no time when you encounter a thief as an up level. Make piece with that and don’t run out in the same area as they will stand and wait for you to do exactly that.
There are karma vendors in WvW too where you can purchase better gear relatively cheaply while you level up. Don’t spend too much though. While levelling I never buy gear with gold and only from these guys if I don’t find a good drop within 5 or so levels. You can purchase low level signets and sigils relatively cheaply from the trading post, but I insert gems in gear while levelling since you recycle gear fairly often.
regarding the acronyms:
Orr – a PvE place where everything is dead (including the game). It’s the place where you spend karma on gear when the merchants are available at the temples… which they are not 99.9% of the time.
EB – Eternal Battlegrounds. The middle map where all 3 teams fight over SM/SMC (Stone Mist Castle) which is a difficult task to get and even harder to hold on to. If you’re lucky you might witness a 5 minute break when this place not being trebbed from the red keep. But this is a great place to have a WP (way point) to get to the middle of the map (that is IF the WP is available when not being contested/trebbed from the red keep).
BL – Border Lands. Every team has one and it should be (mostly) the color of your team. 90% of the time some other team is on control of the bottom camps and sometimes the towers. Take it back, wait for it to change color in a few minutes, rinse and repeat.
LA – some city (Lion’s Arch) where everyone appears on reset night for a few minutes. expect to see some costume brawl action while you wait for the game to continue.
TP – Trading Post. If you have any money this is Where you buy consumables and if you wish: weapons, armor, rings, amulets, signets and sigils.
LS – Look Sharp. This is what you do when you purchase all the pink dyes and go out into the world to display your splendour. (Heh, honestly I dunno what LS means.)
Zerg – the sea of red that makes depresses you on sight. Derived from “The Zerg” race in Starcraft. A race that could win any fight by pushing sheer numbers into battle… continously… until everyone else is dead or running. If you see a large number of green dots on your map – that is YOUR zerg and a good place to be if you want to gain levels in WvW. The green dot’s normally surround a blue dorito. This is your commander and he’s trying to organize the war. Know his name so that you can see when he speaks in map chat or join a VoIP (Voice over IP) channel like TS (Team Speak) to get real time information about what your commander is actually trying to accomplish.
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
how does 1 get exotic gear?
If you play mostly WvW, getting it via Karma (42k Karma per piece of Armor/Jewelery) in Orr or via Honor Badges (~250 badges only or ~250 badges+1 gold per Armor/Weapons) in the citadel of your Homelands are your best options.
While you are upgraded in WvW make sure you wear rare equipment as close to your real level as possible, any lower level equipment will be badly punished by the upgrade system, e.g. a lvl 35 in 35 rare will be stronger than a lvl 45 in lvl 35 gear.
I don’t play ranger in WvW anymore (Necro is my favored), but I was told/noticed that condition ranger with short bows are the most dangerous rangers for small-scale fights.
Longbow + axe/horn is quite good if you run with the zerg.
An important point for any one in WvW: Listen to your Worlds Zerg-Radio (usually a teamspeak server announced in the chat)! Independently of bying in the zerg or not, it provides you with valuable information about: what your “friends” want to achieve atm and where enemies are spotted and what they are doing.

The only class I’ve had a lot of success with fighting thieves while uplvled was my engineer. Don’t feel about losing to thieves in a 1v1 while uplvled as they designed their character for 1v1 roaming killing targets exactly like you as quickly as possible.
I think one of the more popular ranger builds at the moment is a regeneration beastmaster build, pretty much based on being tough and regenerating your HP constantly while slowly chipping away at your enemy. Definitely try and keep your gear as up to date as possible, if you can get your hands on some tanky gear at low level, you’ll be able to reach higher HP than you would in lvl 80 exotics.
