PvP gear set up should be in WvW.
Bad idea in my opinion.
PvP gear setup in my opinion doesn’t provide anything that helps drive demand in the GW2 economy.
PvE & WvW are the major mechanism that drives the in game GW2 economy.
Crafting Armor & Weapons are the Primary Mechanisms that drives demand for materials and gold from the GW2 economy.
If PvP gear is setup in WvW…the overall GW2 economy will be impacted.
ANet will loose a major reason why people buy Gems & Trade for Gold.
Just my opinion, but this would be a bad idea that will have a huge impact to the GW2 economy & to ANet’s ability to generate Real World Dollar Revenues…that I believe subsidizes the existence of the GW2’s pay once…and no Monthly Subscription model.

I can’t be the only person who dreams of this happening! It would be so much easier to change builds and try new things out! and switching between a zerg set up to a roaming set up!
It will probably never happen but personally I think this would be my favourite QoL update if this did ever happen.
Personally, I love the build diversity that WvW offers, and would be very upset if it was simplified to the spvp setup.
However things like -+40% food buffs would not be missed, and dire gear is broken too so i wouldn’t miss that.
But other than a small amount of broken builds (most of which are condi) I do overall enjoy the diversity of builds iv come across in my roaming travels.
PS: Wouldn’t mind being rid of perplex either.

I would rather get the WvW gear in sPvP, i absolutely hate the lack of variety in Amulet-system…
Servant of Dhuum
I just want them to give us a save gear/trait set option so we can 1 click and change our suits & traits. This would be beneficial to both PvE & WvW. Really don’t get why they haven’t implemented it. Such a hassle to change things around when roaming vs zerging, especially when running back to the zerg and get jumped on, knowing you have no chance because you’ve got everything loaded for ZvZ rather than solo roaming.
that would ruin the economy

And bad player would whine they cant play their broken builds (that also exist because ANET sucks at game balance).
oh wait i moved to one of those classes never-mind…..finally i am a good player.
So wvw with pvp gear makes no sense.
Sorry but please just stop.

Are you suggesting balance in WvW has something to do with how any given player does in a 1v1?

This is one of the most terrible ideas I’ve read on this forum.
Let’s just do away with builds and classes altogether

plz give us pve equip in pvp
i love mix my stats
no need stupid buff food
ahhh. no. pve equip is 1000000 times better than stupid pvp equip :/
would be a great booster for newbies.
But there are many drawbacks to implementing this
If I’ve read the OP properly – this could be fixed by bringing in the saved build menu we had in GW1 where you could build a set up, save it, and swap to it at any (out of combat) time. I’d like that, but not the limitations that PvP builds have atm.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both systems.
Personally would love to be able to change stats, runes, sigils, etc on whim to test out new things, without having to cash out bunch of gold every time I want to try new runes etc. So I would love to use the PvP system in WvW.
A lot of others however much prefer the Mix’n’Match system of tweaking stats from different types, and all the options the foods/utility give to round out a build.
I’m thinking that an amulet "split" system might have made this work better. By making amulets be split into 2 parts. So you could pick 2 different amulet types, and get half the bonus from each. Example Soldier + Berserker for high power, and a bit of Precision, Ferocity, Toughness, Vitality. Personally don’t see food/utility as a big loss, but I know others strongly disagree.
Don’t really know about the economical aspect of this, save that couple of the runes wouldn’t sell so much, and perhaps dump in price. But could poke at the comment that "everyone" that does WvW also seemingly does PvE, so perhaps they wouldn’t notice any difference ?
Edit:
Forgot to add about the "build storage" part. One of the problems with it is stats, runes, sigils etc, which is linked to equipment. They would need to redesign a bit, to add equipment etc into the build changer for that to work properly.
Otherwise, if I’m in my zerg getup on my guard (shout, rune of trooper) and click on my roamer setup (medi with traveler) I’d be stuck in trooper runes, until I manually swapped armor around again. Same with weapon, trinkets etc. At that stage, there isn’t really that big advantage to saving the rest of the build, I can manually swap it almost as fast anyways.

Yes I have wanted this all along. It would save sooooo much money and inventory space.
That being said I think this change would cost anet real money, so not sure it would happen.

No it shouldn’t, as an unbalanced mode anyway more options is better.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
exact opposite – I want PvE/WvW gear in PvP. Along with more diversity, it would make anet finally balance some of the ridiculous bullkitten that floats around in WvW.

No, not really, not a good example must admit it, it is the WvW overall, as build viability and effectiveness we have plus cheap “careness” and making game way to easy in some aspects.
After 23 july patch it is easy to play actually on the offensive spec (i was awfully bad now i make wonders even on spvp with certain builds) since what killed faster kills now way faster and some builds falled behind, all what players need to get together are pick up “optimized damage” builds and play the usually tactics, keep aoe and range, and since numbers now are more important than anything, a larger group overwhelms easilly the smaller group with aoe + high damage + range larger group dont need to care much about mistakes if they have better aoe, it is a game where the team with more "general range " plus numbers will win, not much a game of tactics as it was before, like those groups of eles that clean siege on the walls in the blink of an eye, and where a patch to fix AC’s LoS made AC’s being adornments for walls if used for defense.
It is the sum of several aspects that make me see and understand this is not a game where tactics and balance comes in mind, it is about placebos and use what is designed be strong or abuse bugs, since it wont be balanced/fixed unless it becomes to the common daily know-how of every player.
And content will always be added on top of borked content…. in expectation every one will ignore it.
sorry if this is to confuse to read…

What if game would just give you random spec when you enter wvw? That would change meta.

I looked at sPvP and tried to set my gear.
Instead I found one amulet to rule them all!
I then said kitten this kitten and went back to WvW.
Two words: Build Diversity!
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2
I would welcome the removal of food buffs, PvE-specific runes, and PvE-specific stat combinations, as the net result of those things really tries to ruin roaming fun, in my opinion. Not that they should make any class balance changes for WvW roaming, but I just don’t think these things are well-designed for a PvP environment.
Unfortunately, WvW is an extension of PvE, so it’s always going to be subjected to its stats, runes, sigils, buffs, etc.
However, they should provide some template mechanism to allow players to switch between trait/gear/skill sets quickly and easily, in my opinion.
Also, I’m amused people preach build diversity, when I see all the same classes running all the same few builds. It’s no different from sPvP’s diversity, based on my experience.
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
No, you’re not the only person who wants this. I think there are seven other folks. PvP has no build diversity. The people who want this crap are just folks who kitten and complain about having to spend time and gold on different gear. I have my builds tweeked perfectly for my play style. I’m always swapping an item here and there depending on the enemy I’m fighting, the size of my group, or what our role is.
Take the brain dead PvP system and keep it in PvP. Don’t bring that crap to WvW
I do not think they should add the sPvP system into wvw.
However I do think that Anet should add in “pages” per say where you can save specific builds for WvW and be able to change between them. (Maybe have each change cost some Karma, since many have millions of Karma banked with nothing to do with it.)
I think ANet could also get by with adding in a special page in the menu to allow players to not only set their traits/builds, but to place a gear set, runes, ect… in it, and have those also switch when choosing “said page”. (The gears and everything wouldn’t be given free like sPvP but ti’d keep the same system as wvw has.)
That way it allows for the current builds, diversity, ect… and current and new gears, ect… But it also allows for changing your set up quite easily to a new build/gear, ect…
(Plus it can use Karma, which would keep people from spamming it every minute, if the karma requirement was a decent amount, but they wouldn’t be able to set it so high that newer players couldn’t afford it. )

I mainly WvW and one of the many reasons I don’t play SPvP very much is because almost every WvW build I use doesn’t translate over very well. Some are even straight up impossible. I feel your pain from the other side, but I would be very disappointed if WvW were forced into the SPvP model rather than the other way around. I guess I can’t blame you, though; no doubt the preference is largely a matter of which of the two you’re most familiar with.
On the bright side for me, at least, once the Guild Hall Arenas come it looks like I’ll finally be able to duel my friends with real builds instead of being forced into SPvP ones!
Wvw not realy drives economy. No expensive loots, we buy armors, weapons for badges etc… The only problem is the 2-3 full sets of gear what we need to carry
Just the WvW

most wvw players i know never buy with badges
because they cant Salvage runes then
so they never ever even use their badges … Anet really needs to change that it would be ok if salvaging the gear gave no ectos and even no mats at all but at least the runes and sigils need to be salvagable
and most wvw players i know actually drive the economy
because buying tons of certain foods that need many different cooking material
because crafting ascended armors and trying out many different builds which all need an armorset

That’s the most stupid thing that i’ve read lately.
You clearly don’t know WvW community. We are all about pride, custom builds, and putting effort into builds that are unique, yours and yours alone, and not just copy paste from amulets and you are done.
This is the reason why WvW community will never play PvP again. We used to be active players in sPvP, when you could choose your gear manually and not by amulets.
And i can test all the builds that i want, if you desire to test things, go pvp and test builds there, then build armor for wvw.
It would be your happy day, but night mare for all the people that work and play hard for servers, and you just want easy solution, no son, welcome to wvw where you’ll work for results.

Exactly, we like macro management of tiny items that we change depends who you fight. PvP system is why i stopped playing sPvP, because gear there offers no management but dull enforced amulet system.
Also if anet wants to go eSports they need to change this back to as it was.
What makes wvw superior to pvp in my opinion is the huge range of options presented by allowing us to choose gear and weapons and consumables to create a variety of different playstyles.
