Why are the match ups on performance rather than server size? If a middle weight boxer wins a championship he is not expected to step into the ring against a heavy weight, so why are wvw servers expected to do so?

because currently weight classes are basically ‘tiers’ and it would have to be the same match every week which isn’t enough ‘variety’

Because WvW population size is not measurable. The size of your server does not represent the size of your WvW population. See SoR (pre-season) vs TC. TC had a much higher server population yet SoR was more of a WvW power house.
