It is fully possible that they could actually confirmed the issue itself quite recently, thus it could take time to fix.
Even if they have known about it for months it would still take quite a bit of time to hunt down the issue and program a solution for it.

I’m not sure if this is accurate but someone on the forum asserted that the system is simply every “queued” character tries to get on the map periodically. Period.
As far as I’m concerned, this looks correct and would be simplest system to implement with minimum logistics and coding involved as opposed to more queue-like systems.
Anyway, this is all inconclusive, there are different theories and ideas about specifics, group priority etc, but nothing definitive. Developers didn’t release any details as of yet AFAIK. Probably never will.

Well, tbf there’s no claim anywhere that WvW has “true queue”, whatever that means, and queues are’n necessarily pure fifo things.
That’s semantics, but there seem to be an overreaction over the term which stems from assumptions about what “queue” should only mean.

Most people equate a queue to a Line (in fact that is a line in the UK I believe). Most people think first in line is first out of line (FIFO). Anet prompts you to enter a que. A reasonable assumption is that first in is first out…..
If it isn’t a queue don’t call it a queue…. And if it isn’t FIFO explain what it is…. Since it can’t really explained -the random pool is the best explanation, but who wants to wait in a random pool? That’s a quick way to discourage new to wvw ( and the queue line skipper outlined elsewhere).
This should have been addressed before any league… I simply have decided to wvw in off times when there is no queue on yaks bend

I’m not arguing for secrecy, all it does is creates rumors/conspiracy theories which in many cases may be even worse than actual truth.
Btw under assumption that the system works as I’ve mentioned before, it is your attempts to join the map that are queued with some interval.

Liston is right, im from the UK, FIFO is the only REAL queuing system.
it doesnt matter if its 5/10 at a time that have to leave for the same ammount to join, but, like i said before, what does matter is the ammount of time im sat there waiting.
i’d have no quabble over sitting in a que with my whole party, if i knew that we would all get in together, as long as i knew that the que was a fair one.

i’m not sure what do you mean by “all caps real” in this context, but that’s besides the point. I think we can all agree on one thing – the system should be more predictable. Right now it is not, at all.

Think of WvW as an exclusive nightclub. You get in line to get in, and stand in that line, but the bouncer(queue mechanics) can arbitrarily decide what order people get through the door.
In secret it picks the people who’ve paid more cash for gems first.
