Q:

As a GM for a small roaming guild on Blackgate, I am interested in hearing from Mag/SoS/TC players about what you think about facing BG/SoR/JQ or any combination of those three servers.

1. Are you concerned that your server’s WvW activity will decrease during these matchups? If so, which timezones are you most concerned about?

2. Are you worried about queues on your server, and/or lag in WvW?

3. Do you like the league changes?

4. Do you like the old Bloodlust buff (stats and stomp points) and mechanic, and do you like the new Bloodlust buff (stats and stomp points)?

5. Are you in a roaming guild, a point per tick guild, an open field guild, or a combination?

Keep in mind that I care less about winners and losers of the league or individual matchups. I simply want to know how you predict the quality of your gaming experience will be for the next few weeks.

Thanks,
BB

1. My servers decease will have no impact upon my enjoyment. The good players will keep coming, the fair weathers will bail. This is nothing new across all the tiers.

2. Not worried about ques, but it does bother me that the choices made by T1 players to stack onto just a few servers causes skill lag for me.

3. Leagues without server/population balancing is a waste of time. T1 players do not even consider it a 6 server league, just 3.

4. Doesnt matter to me, didnt think it was a big deal before, even less now.

5. No idea what the difference is between a roaming guild and an open field guild. I roam with a small group and fight larger numbers all over the map.

I think if you wish to discuss quality of gaming you should probably include questions about the quality of the fights since isnt that really what we are all here for?

1. Are you concerned that your server’s WvW activity will decrease during these matchups? If so, which timezones are you most concerned about?

A bit. We have some fair weathers that don’t log on when we are losing, which makes us lose by a larger margin than we should. I imagine this decreases BG/SOR/JQs gaming experience as well.

2. Are you worried about queues on your server, and/or lag in WvW?
Queues have been annoying and lag is awful when fighting T1 servers. I worry mostly about the lags due to T1 sized zergs.
3. Do you like the league changes?

4. Do you like the old Bloodlust buff (stats and stomp points) and mechanic, and do you like the new Bloodlust buff (stats and stomp points)?

Either. I roam, and it didn’t bother me before, and doesn’t bother me now. I DO like the stomping points and which they had increased the stomping points and maybe even lowered by more the stat bonus.

5. Are you in a roaming guild, a point per tick guild, an open field guild, or a combination?

My guild is a hybrid/combination. Concerned about objectives, but more concerned with having fun and teamwork. It seems we enjoy good open field fights the most. I personally mostly roam (99% of the time).

Thanks for your reply. Ok, I’ll bite. How do you predict your quality level of fights will go? Also, how many players are in your small groups, and what server are you on?

1 & 2. I’m not concerned about decreased activity. Typically it’s a rarity to have 1 map queued on non reset night. With leagues that has jumped to two maps. (Yay more friends! Boo skill lag!) I doubt activity will decrease much, we maguumans are a hearty folk. That being said, I don’t know when we play you, so if it’s close to finals or big project due dates we’ll probably not be playing as much.

3. If they could fix skill lag, yes.

4. Meh, I felt like the butlust is pretty unimaginitive and feel like it was a lazy addition. The terrain is nice though.

5. Open field, You’ll probably see PYRO out and about and running into blobs two to four times our numbers. We might not win, but (if skill lag permits) we won’t go down easily.

Quality of fights: If we can find blobs about twice our numbers, I am typically pretty confident in coming out on top. And if even if we lose these fights, I would probably still consider them to be quality fights. But once you get beyond twice our numbers, it just gets annoying.
Our average numbers? Not sure. Probably around 25? Resets can probably get up to 35-40. …those numbers probably seem low to you…

Hopefully this has shed some light on your outnumbered foes.
Also, don’t expect to find many maguumans on during NA overnight.

The only thing I worry about when thinking about T1 zerg servers is whether or not my abilities will actually go off or if the soul crushing lag that follows them around the map with ruin the game.

My experience with T1 servers has been mainly characterized by a tragic shortage of inventory space.

I think the same quality of fights will exist, when you find them, but far more of them will be interrupted by people streaming in, and you will spend much more time kiting off blobs. So overall it will be same quality, but fewer good fights and more effort finding them. Mag, 7-8 folks in our group on average.

Hmmm, I think the only thing I’m concerned about is fighting a certain small roaming guild on Blackgate and being conditioned to death in a show of the guild in question’s clearly superior strategies and tactics! n_n

With regards to the pictures below, there were multiple more, but those sneaky little mesmers had too much understanding of the prismatic for me to target them before they disappeared with a puff of small roaming butterflies! Not to mention the condi Warriors and thieves!

Answer to 1. Not concerned, we know which servers will rofl stomp us, i rather be in that position then be the one doing the stomping. Secondly, I will see it as an opportunity to do more roaming activities.

Answer to 2. Not concerned, i think que times will stay the way they are depending on the commander. Recognizable k train commanders will probably maintain the same numbers. Lag is also not a concern as I prefer to be in small groups or atleast organized groups avoiding those large scale k train zerg vs k trainzerg battles.

Answer to 3. Im indifferent to the implementation of leagues, It is great that we are given a schedule to know who we are going to fight and prepare in advance, I think that is one advantage to leagues. On the other hand, cannot expect to win, if the winner of leagues were determined differently then I would be excited about leagues. I am also dissappointed that we will not be able to fight fort aspenwood and stormbluffisle, as they are probably the servers with coverage and numbers similar to ours.

Answer to 4. I am also more or less indifferent to the bloodlust buff in general, pretty cool to have the capture points to fight for, in a smallgroup its usually our first target. I consider having 1 bloodlust stat as having an extra player. I guess I prefer the new stat changes over the old ones, either way the circumstance stands we will be rofl stomped in terms of numbers, coverage, points with or without it.

Answer to 5. Currently guildless

1. It will. I’m not particularly concerned about it, but I do expect a general decrease in activity compared to usual. It’s not anything new.

2. To an extent, but no more than usual. It’s all league hype, and it’ll blow over once it ends.

3. I’m of two minds about this; on the one hand, having real achievements to get is great and lets us not worry about PvEing for them so much. On the other hand, locking servers into a set schedule and not having the random servers outside of the leagues that we usually get might be kinda eh.

4. No and no. No because the old stat buff and stomp points were too much of a bonus for the already-dominant server, and no because the new stats and stomp points are too weak to be meaningful. With the current framework, it’s more or less impossible to find a middle ground that people will be happy with.

5. A mix.

1. Concerned? No, we’ve seen spikes in activity several times before. Will it drop off? Yes, most likely. As the PvE achieve crowd we’ve gained gets their points, or gets frustrated with hard fights, we’ll get some drop off. We’ll also gain plenty that truly enjoy WvW after getting a taste and stick around.

2. Queue’s are what they are. We’ve always had them to some extent, especially on maps like EB and TCBL. We’ve also dealt with plenty of lag. We’ll adjust as we always have.

3. Eh, juries still out on this one. My personal opinion, it’ll be nice to not get paired with severely lower ranked servers for awhile. I like the challenge.

4. Never been a fan of bloodlust. I’d rather go back to not having it, but if we have to, the current version is slightly less annoying and doesn’t wildly swing favor.

5. PPT/ Open field. We’re a pretty solid mix of defensive and offensive players.

TC – We had a weird development on our server this week when a dominant guild split up with most of them moving to SoS but some of them including some popular commanders staying with TC. Our style of play is sure to be affected but it could improve if we focus more on defense.

1) WvW activity has actually been fairly consistent.

2) As for queues, we queue every map on reset. During the week we can have two queue’s now but that doesn’t happen much. Only occurs if big guilds raid on the same map/popular commanders on/all that jazz. Skill lag is bad when you encounter blobs.

3)Who cares about leagues at this point we didn’t try for gold league to win. We came to fight outnumbered.

4)Old buttlust bad, new buttlust better, no buttlust bad. ( the stat buff is bad needs rethinking, I don’t care about stomp points)

5) Roaming/gvg/openfield guild. We have quite a few small mans running around. We raid actively and gvg when we can.

From my view on SoS..

1. Are you concerned that your server’s WvW activity will decrease during these matchups? If so, which timezones are you most concerned about?

We’ve been pretty consistent in our WvW activity. Pretty much we see the same people in WvW day in day out regardless of the matchup.

2. Are you worried about queues on your server, and/or lag in WvW?

SoS barely has any queues. There’s some during NA prime (mainly EB and Home BL) and at reset those 2 have 15 min+ queues but the other two BL are usually outmanned.

Lag is always a problem fighting big servers. We basically don’t even need scouts, as soon as the lag hits we know a JQ or SoR zerg is nearby and ready to jump us.

3. Do you like the league changes?

Pretty neutral on this. Would have much preferred Tier 1 by themselves and maybe TC, Mag, SoS, SBI, FA, YB in one bracket.

4. Do you like the old Bloodlust buff (stats and stomp points) and mechanic, and do you like the new Bloodlust buff (stats and stomp points)?

Hated the old one. Being crushed by JQ zerg during SEA prime when they have +150 all stat was just total kitten. The new one is still bad (60 stats) but it’s better than the old one. Can’t speak much about the stomp points because honestly the only week I’ve played for PPT since last year was the week before Gold league where we had to catch up to SBI.

5. Are you in a roaming guild, a point per tick guild, an open field guild, or a combination?

Combination of all.

Overall I find the leagues thingy positive simply because I no longer have to worry about rolling Darkhaven/Borlis Pass and Pvdooring all week (snoree). Much rather be fighting as the underdog than ticking +695 for hours on end.

NA nahhh, we roll hard always. Oceanics yea, the little amount we do get probably wont be on much. sorry guys

2. Are you worried about queues on your server, and/or lag in WvW?
Queues, nah, never really an issue. Yeah, we queue home BL pretty hard and EBG a few times.

3. Do you like the league changes?
I actually do, I think there is a lot of room for improvement, but it’s brought a lot of PvErs into this world, and I’m finding that several of them are enjoying it enough to stay and be good.

4. Do you like the old Bloodlust buff (stats and stomp points) and mechanic, and do you like the new Bloodlust buff (stats and stomp points)?

ehh, I like it more than the old one. Made GvGs hard to organize around the buttlust =P
5. Are you in a roaming guild, a point per tick guild, an open field guild, or a combination?

Combo, We have several roamers, and #420yoloswag, open field is where we love to be =).

As far as quality fights? haha, not really. T1 blobs you know it and we know it. The amazing amounts of bags we get from you guys… It’s…. funny. I hope that at some point during all of this you guys stop thinking 2 hour queues is acceptable, and you start actually playing the game and move down to these lower tier servers.

You guys should see the lag when all of the t1 servers are together. When all 3 servers have a queue and the map zergs are fighting. You can’t cast a skill. you are reduced to spamming 1.

SoS.
1.Same ppl usually on expect some less on NA time frame since SoS has always been weak in that time frame.

2.Ques on SoS whats that? Skill lag yes fighting the bigger severs always result in 1 key smashing.

3. T1 servers should of had its own league

4. Blood Lust was a dumb idea 150 stat boost and a point a kill was unbalanced. and I miss the open sea look actually made the map look big now it looks clustered.

in short if #3 was done leagues would of been more fun for all populations,

SoS

1. Are you concerned that your server’s WvW activity will decrease during these matchups? If so, which timezones are you most concerned about? Our overall participation has increased, but no telling what will be happening by the of the season.

2. Are you worried about queues on your server, and/or lag in WvW? Our queues have been short, if we even have one. We dislike the lag vs T1 opponents because it takes skill out of the equation and it’s all about numbers.

3. Do you like the league changes? No, we’d like to go back to the mix of T2 and T3 match ups now that there is an increased level of competition between us.

4. Do you like the old Bloodlust buff (stats and stomp points) and mechanic, and do you like the new Bloodlust buff (stats and stomp points)? Stomp points are fine, the stats are just another sop to the more populated server in the match and aren’t needed.

5. Are you in a roaming guild, a point per tick guild, an open field guild, or a combination? Whatever is more fun at the moment.
