Hi,
i’m interested about WvW of Aurora Glade and Gandara for possible transfer.
If possible i need general information about WvW and, above all, queue time for enter.

As a Gandarian – every evening i wait like 20 minutes to join Eternal Battlegrounds. The rest battlegrounds i enter instantly. Lot of commanders now, but few of them skilled enough. I’m still wondering, where was they the last 3 weeks, when we were shame beaten by Augury Rock and Piken Square ?

Good day my friend! I am glad that you may be considering Gandara as a transfer possibility.

As you may have seen from our matchup threads lately, Gandara has been under a serious reconstruction of it’s WvW organisation and it’s community is flourishing. The reconstruction was prompted by the round of loss’ we faced in the past month and the improvement can really be seen in the way we now play.

Gandara is quite full of ‘randoms’, but neither does it lack organised guilds. The ‘Randoms’ are not really that random and a majority make up the bulk of the community who work together with our organised guilds through the use of our server wide TS and community forums. At times they are the main driving force of Gandaran success in a map, at others they support the various guilds which operate across the map.

As stated above, Gandara does not lack organised guilds in the form of Yakslappars [YaK], Malicious Mischief [MM], Semnome [SN], Semper Dius [Dius], The Dark Alliance [TDA]. These are just the ones off of the top of my head and there is yet more that can be seen about.

Edit: As you can see above me; EB tends to be the only map that queues.

In terms of Queues: We vary greatly in queues. On weekend primetime, queues can be up to about 20mins assuming your not hit by that queue bug. At other times, there isn’t any queues. Then again at more times, there is 5 minute queues to each map. But that doesn’t happen so much.

I can give you some information about Gandara:

The queue times are not long at all and only present during primetime. But sometimes only 3 out of 4 maps have a queue. It depends per map of course but i haven’t been in a queue for more than 10 minutes yet since the first month of the game. I never play on EB tho!

The real reason for choosing Gandara however is the fact that we organised ourselves a lot in the past few weeks. A month back we were a T6 server that dabbled into T5 now and then but now we are easily holding out in T5 and dabble into T4 from time to time. The plan is to stay in T4 tho!

We have a server website, a public TS that i used by a lot guildless players as well, a weekly TS meeting with all the guilds/commanders and of course an awesome community. Most organised guilds really stepped up their game as well, since we learned a lot against Piken Square, which houses some of the strongest EU guilds.

Besides having a nice WvW community, our server is pretty crowded PvE-wise as well. And while not the most busy sPvP server, top teams like Onibawan can be seen on Gandara as well.

From my personal point of view (as a Gandarian), both servers are pretty much filled with good people/guilds and a pretty stable community.

Gandara seems to have an edge in prime time.
Aurora Glade seems to have an edge in night time.

The match up is pretty interesting.

I’m from Aurora Glade. We were primarily a PvE server and that part of the game is still going strong. In recent months, due to the efforts of our dedicated WvW players, we have begun building an organized WvW community which uses a Mumble server for voice comms and discusses weekly strategies on our forums.

As for queues, during primetime EB and our own borderlands might have a short queue but I never have had a problem. The longest I’ve ever had to wait was a couple of minutes. Often I don’t have to wait at all.

We usually maintain a solid presence 24/7 so there’s no worries to losing everything we own to night capping. Aurora Glade usually gets better and better as the match-up goes on so no need to get discouraged if we are behind on points early on.

We are facing Gandara right now and they seem very organized with several prominent WvW guilds.

I’ve have to agree with TheGreatA there, we normally dont have any queues on any borderlands, but the last 5 days there have been a queue at AG border sometimes from around 8pm-11pm (UK time).
I’d say Aurora Started out as a really good WvW server, we was ranked as 10. After that a few guilds left and we dropped down to rank 23 at the lowest if I remember right. But after a huge reorganizing internaly in the server were the guilds that have been there from the start made some really good connections we moved a tier up. At this point we understood we had to unite even more. There was contacs between smaller guilds, randoms and medium sized guilds, as we didn’t have or do have any huge guilds. We came to the decision to make a server community webpage as TheGreatA said. We’ve also got our own mumble server with 200 slots for use. Atm. Aurora Glade have had a influence of some guilds from the lower tiers as we have been speaking a lot with them, and decided to make an alliance and effort to forge a new mixed server with both WvW and PvE.

Right now we have a really good communication between all the guilds and even those who dont have guilds due to our own server webpage that hit over 800 registered at the exit of 2012! With that amount of users our community forum team have rebuilt the site to make it easier to use, a great thanks to them!

As mentioned before, queues happens very rarely here on AG, there might be you will stumble upon a queue at Aurora Glade borderland and Eternal, but hey, which servers dosn’t have a queue at those borderlands now and then? At least the queue’s i’ve been to have never lasted longer than 10 min, and that’s when it’s at the longest. It variets from 30s -10 min during some hours.

Our gameplay style is to unite the people on AG, we’ve also made a server alliance guild for tactical use (f.ex for commanders to say stuff to people in WvW as it very often happens we get suppressed for “spamming”). And as Piso mentioned above, Gandara seem to have the upper hands on number from around 16pm-22pm while AG got a decent night force, not a huge one, but it normally consists of guilds so we are focusing on moving around while we use voice comms.
