Now can we stop talking about how the crafting stations didnt affect anyone coz they clearly did. Quit acting like people ONLY went to the borderlands to craft during downtimes

I’m sorta dumb when it comes to any crafting or pve, why were people complaining again about crafting stations in wvw and what was the benefit? Some type of magic find wvw booster or something?

the main reason was people could leave Orr / JPs / out of the way locations, come to wvw for crafting, and return back to where they were in pve land.

But Suprisingly not many pvers realized that, most that used that trick were wvwers who would pop in from let’s say VB read map chat and see orange and then get sucked in to an hour long fight.

If anything, the crafting stations helped more than hurt. Taking them away has denied defense the possibility of getting a few extra bodies and their supply. The true trolls, que takers, spies etc. are probably hanging out in some obscure location like the JP.

Oh c’mon.

You’re not being honest here.

Those that came into craft would very rarely dip a toe into WvW. It wasn’t their scene.

As many many many who protested this change have said: They used it as a “cheat” to get back to the exact same spot in PVE they were prior, and be able to access bank, etc …

If Anet just put a 5 silver entrance fee into WvW, we’d be fine. I’m sure most WvW players don’t care about WP costs, and we’d make it up on the first ‘do anything on that map’

EDIT: Apparently putting ‘a’ ‘5’ and ‘s’ for silver was = kitten

You know…

I have been thinking about this and I wonder,
How were pve scrubs adding to que if the map was already in que?
We’re they really waiting in que just to use the citadel services?

And yes I have been in pve, gone to citadel and gotten sucked into wvw, most notably “need help nnc”.

Did you personally monitor the crafting stations 24/7 to see? Neither did I! So, I cant say 100%, if you can, it seems you’re taking a que space by monitoring what everyone else is doing. I don’t need to pop into wvw to use the bank because I got a very lucky Black Lion drop, but my fiance (who also wvws) popped in several times over the years for bank access and always got sucked in the “need help at”.

I’m not saying some pvers weren’t using this “cheat” as you phrased it, I said wvwers used it more. Also, there are still ques, so how many spaces did this change free up, and how much have we lost since because the 1 or 2 extra bodies and supply weren’t there for a possibility of help?

Fort Aspenwood BL queue was 30 after reset when I looked at it. Guess it would have been 32 if the crafting stations were still there.

I can’t count the number of times I went to home border to use bank/crafting stations and stayed to help out. Just did it in fact…went to use guild bank, stayed for 45 mins to fight. Never did it at primetime. Close the stations if there is a queue. Oh yeh, too late for common sense yet again.

I don’t think that the crafting stations were responsible for resent night queues.

Perhaps they might be during other times when an invading force has bombed in with a giant blob and our reinforcing commanders are struggling to get guild members in. That is a very infrequent issue though.

I think the false numbers effecting transfers are the greater concern and focus. Over the course of days/weeks/months those PvE players that only use the crafting/banking/black lion service are probably impacting the WvW population numbers to some degree.

Either way I don’t care. I can adapt to crafting elsewhere when it is required, and way point costs do not impact me.

I guess for me I never saw that many people crafting. Entirely possible that I just didn’t pay attention to that area. What I do see is people hanging out in the spawn area. That drives me nuts. At least pretend you are having a dance party to throw us off.

Not even sure what the OP’s post is supposed to prove other than there’s a queue on his home BL.

Maybe ANet removed the crafting stations really so that people wouldn’t use them as an excuse to stand around and collect reward points.. Yep, instead of that MANY people just stand around in keeps and spawn points collecting points. I see more people now than ever just standing around doing nothing.. In the keeps they will do this unless or until somebody attacks. Once in a while go outside and run around like being useful then come back in.. I watched in amusement last night as no less than 20 people stood around our Keep (FA / SoR linked EB doing nothing. Oh yes I was doing nothing as well of course, other than watching to see what would happen. Some were complaining about the lack or organization.. lol… (Note: from what I’ve experienced FA rocks with organized fighting)

After 20 minutes I logged out after observing that most of them were still there.. doing what they were doing when I got in.. zzzzz.. so sad…

What’s your evidence that crafting stations “helped more than hurt”? ANet (presumably) looked at their copious amounts of data to determine that there were enough people spending enough time at crafting station to add to queue times — people who left to fight afterward wouldn’t be included, since they WvW’d as well.

Or are you suggesting that ANet went out of its way to make a controversial change that cost them dev time that could be spent elsewhere all because there were just a few people?

How I see it is this…

If you are a “Real” WvW’er… then not being able to Craft in WvW is of little importance. Like most of us, you’ll just craft somewhere else… no problem.

What would upset a Real WvW’er is NOT being able to WvW for any reason - i.e. – Crafters taking up possible queue spots, Loiterers taking up possible queue spots, whatever… whoever is not there to WvW for their server’s benefit.

However, if your primary objective is to be able to “Craft” when and wherever you want and to have the benefits of doing it in WvW (no loss of position in PvE land, crafting bonuses, etc.), then you’re more likely to be upset by not being able to CRAFT in WvW.

So I call “BS” on all the Pretend WvW’ers saying, “Removing the crafting stations is horribleeeee. OMG!!! Now I cannot be there to get a callout and help my server when I’m really there to do other things. This is a travesty!”

Pfft! Please!

You know, there’s probably exponentially more players who like to do BOTH (or all three aspects of the game, i.e. PvX) that strictly “real” WvWers, as you put it. WvW is seriously hurting and has been hurting for years because of dwindling population. Hence the server pairings.

So I would think the last thing that a “real” WvWer would want to do is chase away more people by looking down on them as not “real” WvWers.

BTW, I’ll bet the server merges have much more to do with queues than a few crafters. But go ahead, ignore the obvious variable so you can trash anyone who doesn’t play the game they paid for to your specifications.

Hey, man, I’m not trying to chase off people in WvW that are actually there to WvW. And I don’t have anything against people doing PvX (I do PvX). BUT if you were coming into WvW to do your PvX and it was crafting, specifically when there were queues, now you’ll need to take it somewhere else. As Anet has stated…

“Upon observation we found there have been players taking up space in the [WvW]maps who are only crafting and not participating with their teams.”

This was their reasoning for removing the crafting stations from WvW. And I agree with it. And what I was saying as someone that is a Crafter and a WvW’er… it’s not a problem because: when I’m in WvW, it’s to do WvW. Crafting in WvW was just a convenience thing. (It’s no big loss; I got a toon parked at the Grove now that does my daily crafting.)

The whole queue thing that so many promoted has just proven to be a hoax.
There was absolutely zero improvement on waiting to get in WvW, I’ve been there every evening and could not measure any difference. Yet, one cannot stop some zealous people to hang to their fallacies and their myths. that’s the unfortunate side effect when common sense does not prevail.

Nah man, my anecdotes are much more valid than any of Anet’s silly statistics or access to data that players don’t have on the account that I don’t like it, therefore it is wrong.

As an avid PvE:er and no longer very interested WvW:er I can say I have used this “cheat” to do my “daily crafts” from time to time; but I can also say I would never bother waiting in a bloody queue to save 2 silver.. if there was no queue I’d pop in, do my crafts, pop out and continue wherever I left off.. if there was a queue I’d go to a city. I strongly doubt the crafting stations caused a significant increase in queue times.. :P
