Queue times or WvW
You do know that Eternal Battlegrounds isn’t the only WvW map, right?

How exactly are they supposed to “fix” Queuing times? They are constantly working towards upgrading server capacity through backend updates, but really, short of that there isn’t exactly anything they can do.

Switching servers does solve the issue. The reason for which everyone is clustered in the same servers is a mystery for me.
Wait so you prefer them to add more people into wvw when it’s already balanced? It doesn’t need more people since it has enough zerg as it is! Maybe you could suggest in the future about adding a bigger wvw map for more people to play on instead?

People are clustered because people want to play with their pre-existing friends and guildmates and chose to create on the same server. That happens in every new MMO release.
Therefore unless tons and tons of people switch, which is unlikely for the reasons the OP says, if you as an individual switch to a lower pop server, you surely will get rid of your queue time, but you will have a terrible experience in W3 because you will always be outnumbered and losing.
There isn’t really a good fix for this, because the numbers need to be capped for playability. Overflow doesn’t work for this feature due to how it is scored and so on.
We don’t need more people in WvWvW, if anything, they need to reduce the amount of players.
When even high-end top-of-the-line CPUs are running at 100%, your zerg might be a little too big.
Also, it doesn’t matter how optimized the server is or the how high or low the population limits are set, players will always fill it up, zerg the same objective, and lag it out.
What could they POSSIBLY do to reduce the queue times dude? Seriously.
There is nothing other than these 3 options.
1. Promote server transfers so that the amount of people in the queue is less.
2. Expand the amount of people that can enter WvW, which would be stupid! Especially since you are already complaining about getting stemrolled by larger servers!
3. Add more content to the game, and expand the battlegrounds. This is the only reasonable thing to expect if you are unwilling to switch servers. but obviously this will take time.
The problem is not that they will not “fix” the queues. The problem is that the servers are unbalanced. “Fixing” the queue times so that overpopulated servers will allow more people into the battlegrounds does not fix the actual problem.
The bottom line is this. You chose to be on the server you are on, and you choose not to leave it for one with more reasonable queue times. Sorry, but if you and your friends are unwilling to move to a lower population server, you need to live with the consequences of that choice, one of which is longer queue times.
Another stupid thread about WvW queues. -_- It’s one of those topics that ask for the “having your cake, and eating it too” solution.
I don’t see why moving to a lower population server won’t solve your baby problems. Fewer people on the server = fewer people queuing up for WvW = faster entry to WvW, so I don’t know what you’ve been smoking and saying that it won’t solve anything. Maybe they can add more maps to WvW, fine and good. But if you’re going to complain incessantly about something that you should have known from the very start, then there’s no helping you at all.

i wish Anet could just forcibly redistribute the playerbase across servers. so it’d be more or less fair. but apart from trying to leave guilds and friendlists in tact as much as possible, it would be also incredibly difficult to try to predict the playing time each individual player would be spending in WvW and balance accordingly.
it’s a pipe dream, i guess. maybe incentives for guilds to switch to low-pop servers would be something feasible?
something tells me that my server (Dzagonur [DE]) will never leave the match-up at the very bottom of the EU server list. it is one of the 3 worlds they added later, after all.
Well, the problem is on player side. In guild leadership prospective, losing wvw or being at a losing server means losing authority, which could lead to losing people and risk your guild. Meanwhile having a long queue or not able to play wvw at all just means your guildmates are having less fun, which is no big deal. No sane guild leader would risk their guild for shorter queue time. And not to mention you do need some manage skill to move your whole guild to somewhere most of your guildmates happy with and the influence start-over.
