The solution to better WvW matchups comes down to the players. If you are waiting 2 to 3 hours to get into WvW on an overpopulated server, transfer to a lower pop server. If you are a guild leader, take your guild with you.

If you play WvW for fun and challenging fights, you won’t regret the move. Taking and holding a keep from a server that has you outnumbered is much more fun and rewarding anyway.

Join us on Ferguson’s crossing, we need more WvW focused guilds. Move your guild to one of the lower pop servers and be part of the solution. You won’t regret it.

In DAoC the keeps and towers got weaker in terms of guards and such the more you owned.

The orbs concept is also horrible broken and making sure WvW stays dead.

Saying that removing score will fix the problem is a false assumption. People who do not play because they care about the score being so far out of whack, aren’t going to play if you remove the score entirely. The competition is what they play for.

People who want to play will play, people who don’t wont. Changing scoring mechanics isn’t going to change that. There’s nothing wrong with WvW it’s just not the end all be all you want it to be. I however, will still be playing.

Remove the scoring ? are you insane ? WvW is great on paper. The problem is with the population difference. There is no mechanic or anything to compensate lower population servers. For example medium population server has almost no queue in WvW vs High population server which has queue most of the time.
50v100 is not possible.

Night capping is NOT the problem with WvW.

Open world PvP is a persistent fight. It should never be controlled according to time. Therefore night capping should not, and cannot be fixed. The reason people are blaming night capping for the problem is the 1 sided rush that is associated with the night capping or PvDoor. It is near impossible to recap a zone when the other team owns everything. Even if both servers are at maximum caps and the fight is 100 vs 100.

If you’ve ever been on when the servers reset the match ups you know that whoever is first out with the largest zerg first, wins the week. They go for the Orbs of power first and obtain all three before the other 2 servers even realize what happened. They now have a huge 15% health buff and even more stat bonuses when they are already the most populated and the best team. WHY ARE WE BUFFING THE TEAM WHO IS ALREADY WINNING! This is creating a huge disparity between the power of the winner vs the loser. It should be quite the opposite. I know there was some underdog buff a few weeks back but I haven’t seen it lately. The server that is losing by 300k points needs an incentive (and help) to get their team back in the fight. They need an underdog buff, that isn’t more exp / karma, because they’re not getting any kills so that buff is useless to them.

THE PROBLEM WITH WvW IS ORBS & SPAWN CAMPING!

The first day of WvW one team has capped all the orbs and the entire map by fighting empty keeps. This has happened in every pairing I’ve seen on across multiple of the lower performing servers every single time.

Now the loser has 2 possible paths to run out of their base. These 2 paths are blocked by the winning team. The winning team has nothing to kill, and they end up gravitating towards these spawn points. This creates a “No fun for anyone situation.” I have been on both sides of the spectrum. Last pairing on Borlis Pass we got crushed and I couldn’t even help my team take 1 tower back. This pairing we did the crushing and owned the entire map for the whole week. Neither were any fun, and this is crux of the issue with WvW, 1 sided blowouts. The waypoints in the “Garrison” keeps just south of the spawn needs to be removed, it only makes the natural push towards spawn points even worse.

In DAoC many boat paths were possible to alleviate the choke points created by minimal spawn locations. There also needs to be some kind of way to slaughter the spawn campers. They need to add guards, or siege to help the losing team push out of their base. The Orbs should control something besides raw power. They should control access to Darkness Falls!

Look they did a lot of great things for all us old RvR’ers and I for one am willing to be patient and see if they can help fix WvW because frankly they’re the closest I’ve seen to someone with a successful Open world PvP experience. They got a lot of the fundamentals correct, just a few minor tweaks and time for the servers to normalize and I think we will all be feeling better about WvW.

People are just complaining cause they do not win, or have a lead and lose cause they are not playign the game. its a 24/7/365 day long game. Not the 12 or 8 hours you are playing. People play over here from over seas cause there is more people and better game. Can not blame them or us in capping ur kitten when ur sleeping. its the name of the game, take advantage of your other sides.
You guys did it to us this week 2v1 all weekend, which was hard for any HoD guild to get in waiting in q 7 hours sucks.

Deal with whats going on, get some over sea guilds urslef and work with it

Those players are finite and all crammed onto a few servers to ensure easy wins. Until those players decide they actually want a challenge and spread themselves out over all the servers, balance will never happen.

The problem is only going to continue to compound itself as more and more servers stop WvW’ing and more and more players transfer, for free, to winning sides.

If you cannot see how this will have a negative affect at the longevity of this game in this specific field, then i don’t know what to tell you.

I’m certainly not blaming those servers for doing this as they’re just doing what’s needed to win, but their utter disregard for refusing to see why this is bad for the game is getting old.

I’m hoping you are an EU player and speaking strictly from an EU perspective, because if not then you are hopelessly ignorant of where the majority of off peak players are.

The majority of US server off peak players are not on the top servers. HoD has a night crew but they are in no way a majority of anything. In fact the unofficial Oceanic servers were IoJ and SoS, both of whom got slaughtered by ET last week. And guess what? They both still have a large Oceanic playerbase.

SWTor was a ghost town in 3 weeks.
No content at all and pvp was well not good.

WwW will face the same as you can note, if I put in effort as the system is designed with keep and castle and I get nothing in return, the game lacks some serious thought. How am I to figure this out and sort it out in the community when what I do is pretty much pointless?

There are smart people in arenanet, I am sure of it they did a lot of things right but the WwW just is sad.

Nightcapping needs to go away its a broken system.

Man the community in this game is just kitten tier. Whine whine whine all day. This same kitten happens in planet side and the community still holds team spirit and enjoyment. I play wvw because its fun. I play planet side because its fun. Sure you get rewards ad upgrades along the way, but you don’t enjoy it then it just becomes a job. If its a job to you, stop kitten playing and do something else. Who gives akittena about night caps? I’m still going to que wvw to have fun with my guild in an organized setting.

The points matter somewhat, yes. I remember Northern Shiverpeaks coming back two consecutive nights because their player base was on at night EST. They came back from zero realestate to owning the whole map. They were far behind in points initially, but won the match.

Some people have a mind that embraces loss. HoD has one guy with a commander tag that spammed chat about how HoD could not win this week. He embraced loss. He spewed propaganda to convince others that we could not win. He talked about all the ways WvW makes losers out of everyone. He was still there quietly participating in our winning that came later.

Yes, it sucks to lose when you muster all you got to no avail. It feels like something must be wrong, since you know you have what it takes to win, but cannot. Remember this:

*every server that is at the top of the ranking is a server that is feared
*top servers have to play each other, not the poor struggling servers
*struggling servers play each other
*some within every server will embrace loss
*some within every server will show the war hardened spirit.

The one thing that I do know is across the board is that coming back from nothing is sometimes impossible. I was on a map more than once where we were getting attacked by both forces at our map spawn. Luckily, that was during the 24h resets. I understand times can feel tough. Your enemy resists your will to win.

But, there is a winner.
