yeah, but the warrior has too much ‘magic’ – i’d really love to see gw2 stick to more rpg rules with the characters – it would certainly make the game more – funny if anything else
Like confusion – should leave the person I’m casting on …dazed and confused – the characters run the wrong way – they cast at the wrong creatures – they stop and cry lol
now tell me that wouldn’t be a riot – a confused warrior stops fighting to cry in the middle of battle ?!

I think in EQ2 they had raid mobs that would make the tanks stop mid-battle and do a cry animation
it would be cool if confusion made him do one of random animations – he either cries, lies down to sleep, or starts dancing!
Yeah them are better confusions you guys are suggesting. Heck at the very least randomly mix up your controls, like up becomes down, right becomes up, etc..
well there is a lot that doesent make sense about the gw2 mesmer. glamourbuild made sense, duelist only ..not so much. we are slow, are light armor class, are forced to go power because. most of our stuff is ai heavy, we got a massive lack of aoe, and lack of conditions. so a duelist should not be light armor.
the gw1 mesmer had it right. gw2 mesmer is forced into weird puzzled together builds to try to get something like an aoe sorta effect. ai should not be a light armors main dmg dealer.
thats why after the nerfs to the mesmer class we are kinda stuck as a veilbot, that doesnt do dmg, is no threat, support only, squishy and kinda unneeded if veil and tw is on cooldown….
this has to change! a lot of my mesmer friends see the same issue. all the roamers will probably jump in now as they dont see the issue in a 1v1, but as a former glamour mesmer that fights vs big zergs, i do see the issue with the light armor. u cant make a class squishy and force it to be a 1v1 only or a utility bot.
id love to see a complete rework of our clkitten ai, more aoe mesmerlike skills. less duelist more gw1 like!

I’m fine with the Mesmer how it is (bit of speed might be nice though). I’m not squishy, I have yet to be beat by a warrior in a duel, I can survive three-way keep battles for more than two hours and not die once, I can portal and ninja stuff, I have debuff spells that few use but are uber powerful … There’s a heck of a lot of survivability in the class and a ton of useful utility items that make for some interesting combination and builds that aren’t cookie cutter.

i have my greatsword which is great for zerging – all zerker with ascended jewelry – working on ascended gs now …..but other than that – I have a sword and a torch for alt weap – and i move way too slow to fight a warrior or thief , and take too much damage – the torch invis doesn’t last long enough to do anything but take 4 steps away…. the blur doesn’t last long enough to be significant….i’ll admit it’s great vs npc though – but in pvp – how is a nosebleeder that moves like a slug a duelist ?
Yeah if a warrior turns tail and bolts when he’s losing, that’s incredibly frustrating as a Mesmer. I’m working on learning how to counter that.
Thieves were my last project. I wound up making my own thief to understand the class. Hrm, maybe I need to do that with a warrior.

so how big are your zergs? 30+? how is your tagging going? its not just about surviving, its about having the ability like a necro has to deal aoe without having to run in the middle of the zerg with light armor and maybe tag 1 or 2 whereas every other class gets 15-20 lootbags out of it u get 3. and yeah try to outrun a zerg! also when the zerg pushes out… enjoy the cc that holds u back, enjoy the perma lochdown and then next to all the blinds cast your phantasm….

My bags 20 slot, max spaces, fill up entirely every 20 minutes when I choose to join the Zerg.
As for avoiding the Zerg, stealth and double dodge and vitality over 25k is your friend.
P.S. Phantasmal Disenchanter is severely underrated, particularly versus necros.
P.PS. If one type,of build isn’t working for you, try others. There a lot to choose from. Half the fun is in experimenting.

i am double dodging and i am wearing dire armor or pvt depends on which build im running.also right now it is more like who has the most heavy armor in their zerg.
the thing is that nowadays mesmers are not seen as dmg dealers or threat in a zerg, they are veilbots and maybe tag a few, but compare that to the other light armor classes we cant keep up..at all!

I only wear two pieces of toughness gear. I rarely run veil. I’m terrible in that I covet my build and don’t like sharing, because I don’t want to see “me” out there everywhere.
But my bags are always full when I zerg. And I survive long fights and tag tons because of the specs I use.
Now mind you I found my skill level improved greatly when I moved to EU, so maybe that has something to do with it. Dunno. Can only tell you what I’m seeing on my end.
oh, i can say , mesmers are in fact damage dealers with the right builds, in several ways – i usually chop most characters down in half with a 2 skill combo. I do camps solo – but at the expense of defense – so the slow movement makes my build hard and easy to catch – once the enemy locks on to your character with target – your illusions are useless for confusing them. it would also help if when you dodge and make a clone – your opponent either loses target lock or it transfers to the clone. otherwise, whats the sense of having a clone other than to spread conditions ?

Because a guy who spends his time working on tricks and books probably didn’t practice sprinting in full plate mail.
Bringing people from the downed state is not the same as the dead state, in fact in GW2 the dead state isn’t even dead, you could say it’s equivelant of the unconcious state. War Banner -inspires- people to get off their kitten and fight harder, acting kind of like a beacon for a second (or third, or forth or 50th) wind. Just because players call it a “res” doesn’t mean it has to be a ressurection ability. You may try to counter that by saying what about the sigil on the guardian and how does that inspire people, not all class needs to bring people from the downed state up the same way.
Either way looking too deeply to tie game mechanics into fantasy realism isn’t really a great way to get things changed.
whaddaya talking about – the whole rpg pvp is pretty much a complete system – all rpg games are derivatives from that system – it has to make sense – otherwise there will be tons of imbalances as we are experiencing – with characters and skills
it’s one thing to re-invent the wheel – it’s quite another to make it square! >_<
