I’m not going to tell you you’re wrong. They’re still forced to do it and, if you check, they regularly complain about being blocked by never capping something or other.
The details are irrelevant. I could get my rings by spamming LA for someone to run my butt through the lower ranks while I /afk or just read reddit for a guild queueing up a bounty and get my commendations in 15 minutes off of other people’s work.

They’re in WvW (noun). They’re not WvWing (verb).
All they’re doing is PvE in another map.
Saying that they’re playing WvW by avoiding contact with any enemies runs counter to everything that it actually is.
Forcing them to achieve X number of kills with zero regard for badge drops would be far more favorable in terms of forcing PvE players to actually play WvW (verb).

Anet could add ascended/WvW exclusive stuff. It´s not that hard technically and they had more than half a year to do so.
I think they dont want it. Because they dont want PVE players forced to play in WvW (or they QQ+quit).
It´s a terrible thing.
WvW in Gw 2 ll never be as rewarding as a pure WvW game.
Well at least we have fun.
I know a lot of people who have been holding out, waiting for this patch, and will quit if they are forced to PvE, to get gear that should also be available in WvW, doing nothing but WvW. It’s sad that in sPvP they don’t have to level, or take the time to get gear, yet WvW players have to leave WvW to farm for gold to buy upgrades for keeps, or to run dungeons to get equal gear. It’s sad really.

Where to begin. First of all, we get gear there that can only be used there. It is only a skin and has no statistical advantage. If you played WvW from the time the game launched until now, you could quit and go play PvE and still have good gear and a level 80 to play with. If you did the same thing in SPvP (which is what I have done) you will be starting at level 1 in every other aspect of the game.
Also, your statement that we basically get gear for free. There was a post where it broke down how long it would take to get skins (the good ones) in WvW, compared to Pve, compared to SPvP. It takes roughly 40% longer to get the same gear in SPvP. Again, keep in mind, once we get that gear, it magically disappears as soon as we exit the Mist. I understand you want features, but please don’t start comparing things you know nothing about.

I fail to understand why they treat PvE players and WvW players differently, and not as equals. Until Ascended gear is available to the WvW community it seems as if you’re treating them as second class players, and you’re catering to PvE which is underwhelming at best.
They are the same thing. Unlike sPvP, WvW and PvE rewards are interchangeable. Ascended gear is specific to content, it’s just a coincidence that the content is specific forms of PvE. People who love running dungeons (but don’t care for FotM) can’t earn any ascended gear (dungeons alone won’t complete any dailies most days, guild missions don’t take place in dungeons and rings aren’t available outside of FotM). Players who like open world exploration are limited to one laurel a day (which is often just as easily obtained in WvW) which doesn’t reward open world content, it rewards five daily hoops you jump through then ceases to exist until dailies reset (the design goal wasn’t to make open world PvE more rewarding – if it was it was a clear failure – the design goal was to pressure players into logging in every day even if they felt like they didn’t want to play). People who aren’t in big guilds can’t access guild missions at all.
The problems you have with ascended gear are not WvW specific problems, they are ascended specific problems.
I don’t see why people are upset by the racial armour reveal. Racial armour is equally available to PvE and WvW players – the currency earned in WvW is the same as PvE. You don’t need a WvW specific source of racial armour, there is no PvE specific source of racial armour.
WvW was designed as a casual open world PvP environment. It was never designed to be balanced (side-kicking levels, coverage problems, disproportionate populations, skill design and balance is based around 5 vs 5 combat and PvE, not 100 vs 100 combat). As an arena, it’s not a whole experience, it’s just a place you can take the toys you earned in PvE to use them against others in PvP (regardless of whether you outnumber them 10 to one or they are level 60 wearing level 45 greens and you are level 80 wearing ascended and exotic gear). It’s time to accept that WvW was never designed to be a serious PvP arena. The design as it exists will never be that. That doesn’t mean it can’t have nice things (like this patch brings, more stat combinations purchasable with WvW rewards) but you are misguided if you think comparing WvW rewards and itemisation to sPvP rewards and itemisation. If they wanted to make WvW like sPvP they would have removed karma, experience, gold and loot rewards and replaced it all with glory PvP equipment (that can’t be used outside of WvW) and auto-levelled everyone to 80 (instead of giving an advantage to true 80 players). This is not sPvP, this arena was designed to give you an edge if you did more PvE, more access to unique looks and stat combinations from PvE. WvW is an extension of PvE, not separate from it.

PvE will never be “endgame” in GW2 for a large portion of the player
base. Since there is no raiding, grouping with guildies and friends to
go fight large battles in WvW is what keeps many people around.
Its been stated that GW2 wants to see more people in sPvP, but there
is not enough reward to do this outside of honing your skills. Here is
what I propose:
1) Let honor points be used for gear other than just sPvP only, even if its
skins used in PvE.
2) WvW has to have a better reward for the winners on weekly reset, even
if its just badges or loot.
This game for me outside of WvW has been farming the dragon events on three
toons in order to make some money. This is going to account bound after the
patch as we all know. Ive already leveled three level 80s and have no intention
of grinding PvE on another toon since the other professions do not interest me.
Im sure the same can be said for many other players.
Maybe Im biased, but I was a huge fan of Battlegrounds in 6 years of WOW. They
were smaller scaled battles that actually had an objective compared to the
large zerg fests using portal bombs to win in WvW.
A lot of other MMO’s have special servers dedicated to open world pvp where you go out into the leveling zones and gank random people trying to level up.
Guild wars 2 has done away with this by creating open world zones with pvp as it’s focus. This is actually a good thing because it means your ‘open world’ pvp experience is overall far better because everything around you was designed with this in mind without doing away entirely with the feel of open world.
So yes there is some PvE in WvW but a large part is about PvP. WvW was more intended as an alternative choice for leveling up characters etc. to normal PvE as well as obviously some competition but people have taken it so serious that they forget that the leveling up and casual play is also part of WvW and that WvW will never be strictly competitive because unlike sPvP fights aren’t strictly controlled nor fair. WvW is like a huge free for all where anything can happen.
Difference now is that competitive guilds have found that zerging is the most effective method in WvW to win (generally though not strictly this is indeed often the case). I get the impression however that WvW was never intended to be so much about the blobs and that large fights could happen but that skirmishing would’ve had a far greater roll than it does now. To be honest I would prefer seeing the blob versus skirmish ratio better balanced.
I’m glad they are slowly improving WvW step by step, I suspect some awesome things within the next couple of years from WvW. Gotta give them time to implement improvements step by step. Doing away with culling is a huge leap forward in improving wvw. I know the problems are frustrating but they are being dealt with just got to be more patient and appreciate any improvements being made at the end of the day you can always take a break and play something else for a while if you are really annoyed by the issues yet to be fixed.
As for OP, I don’t see how Racial sets should be available for badges. Granted monetary rewards in WvW are dire versus some pve content farming but that’s a problem to do with reward balancing and not to do with pve content (That said WvW rewards are a bit better now with the better loot drops from one of the recent patches). 100 something gold is a lot no matter if you play pve or wvw.

Whether Anet likes it or not, WvW is the endgame. Ascended gear attainable in PvE should be attainable, by the same means, in WvW whether it be chances for ascended drops off of Garrison Commanders, or Keep/Garrrison Commanders dropping the equivalent of fractal relics so they can be bought just like they are off of vendors in FoTM. Anything less is unacceptable, and could contribute to attrition from the game. I don’t want to farm/buy ectos, or wait 3 months for a couple of pieces from slowly gathering laurels. There should be equal opportunity for players in WvW, if not moreso than PvE, since the game’s only saving grace is WvW.

I have no idea why they think “WvW Reward” can be equilvalent to Dungeon set gears or Karma Temple gears, we all already got those items! Come on,… where is the ascended WvW item you promised?
They also admitted at one point that Culling fix is not include Skill lag. Meaning if they manage to get culling fix done, skill lag prolly still prevail…
Ah, what a bad sign. I hope i better take a chill pill and wait/see tonight.

I assume the way to obtain racial armors will be to kill a dragon somewhere 85 times or run 112 fractals or otherwise stop playing the game the way I normally play it. This has been the case for pretty much everything so far.
Racial Armor is as easy to obtain as kisssing 119g goodbye. The pieces range from 12-20g per piece. And they’re only rare quality, you’ll have to transmute them onto whatever exotics you want

I was hoping Con/Vit/Tuf exotics will be one of the new armor stats available so I can complete my build without waiting and then grinding out ascended items. Even if most of the other updates are mostly pointless, at least this one addition would make my day.

It is a gold sink people, if you don’t have the GOLD for it, look for something else. IF this is introduced, T3 racial will loose its value. Everyone will assume that the other got them via BoH.
Uh.. I sure hope there’s other “new” options beside the karma gear (skin and stats). Getting karma gear was never a problem for a WvWr. Getting nice skins on the other hand….

It’s a business decision. The amount of players regularly doing WvW is only a fraction of the masses doing PvE. At the end of the day, ANet is just a company. They go where the money is.
And there is only one thing we say to Death: ‘Not today’.
Even if they do add ascended stuff later on in WvW we’ll still have to pay a secondary currency like laurels for it. Anet likes for us to wait for stuff and have a long term goal as such, even if we’ll be a few months behind the pve’ers and their ascended stuff…

well they gave badges a gold value already with the ability to buy sieges für X silver or X badges.
You could directly copy that to Cultural Armor you’d need 11 900 Badges for a full set of T3 cultural.

I really hope it wont be just the temple armor. Because…well, we can buy it already. Every WvsWer should have tons of karma and being able to visit orr.
i would like to see the dungeon/tpvp armor buyable with badges. i like some of the skins and wear them in tpvp but have no possibility to get them outside of tpvp. And no, i wont grind one of the boring dungeons 20+times.

100 gold is not a lot as a PVE player…lol.
100 gold is a matter of playing the game for 4 hours each night for a week – and that’s slow.
In World vs. World, even if I was running with the most successful zerg on my server and the enemy servers just continued to throw bodies at us instead of back capping or swapping BLs, I would make 35g in that same time. That’s also fairly generous because that scenario never happens so it’s hard to actually gauge.
CoF 1 6x/h x2 + CoF 2 = 10g + drops
HotW 1, SE 1+3, AC1+3= 3.5g + drops
Lv 10 Fractal Daily = + drops
Tokens:
258 CoF
66 HotW
132 SE

True. However WvW has a bigger gold sink(upgrades on keeps/towers/camps) then PvE(WP’s). that is what every WvW-er is trying to make ppl understand. If i play WvW i make 5g/day tops(serveral hours of play) 100+BoH, lots of karma and i spend most of that gold for siege/upgrades. leaves me with little gold to put aside for a cultural armor.

That’s a shame. I was actually going to spend my 10k badges when I heard about racial skins being available, but now I guess they’ll just rot for another half a year. Of course, none of this would be a problem if WvW were as rewarding of gold as PvE content.

Glad to see I wont have to spend my badges of jumping. No way am I spending badges AND gold for ugly and useless gear. Not even any apothecary gear. Disgusting.
