Rallying off PVE mobs and NPC guards

There are many times I want to kill my own NPC guards….. also, while I’m killing the mobs I am 1. Not hitting the enemy (enemy gets in free dps on me) 2. I lose my own chance of rallying while giving the enemy free dps on me= I will probally lose the fight.
It makes fighting more than 1 person almost impossible (the only way to win a 1 vs more people fight is to defeat people very fast, them rallying off PVE mobs doesn’t help that- after all, they don’t need to worry about me rallying, eventually they win the fight, only I need to worry about the mobs health on top of my own.)

It won’t be changed, get used to it/learn to finish them/start playing in a group/insert other answers here.
It won’t be changed- as it is used in pve to rally when your downed and they won’t change anything just because it’s rubbish in wvw.
Just be thankful we can’t rally off your pets or illusions.

Which would revive the downed enemy.
The best is when you down people from separate servers and when you spike one the other rally! Man is it fun to have to kill them all over again becuase you know you killed someone else.
But like others side. Nothing is going to change. They gave lip services to breaking up zergs and changing wvw but I don’t see it happening. Nothing that has been added or changed has done anything but reinforced this type of game play. (As a side note Camelot unleashed kick starter is up)
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
It’s fine as is. It just adds more strategy to a fight.

True. You get so many choices!
Scenario: As a Guardian you have engaged NPCs for quite some time and when you look back, you realize you accidentally downed a glass cannon Thief that tried to 2 2 2 2 2 2 his way through your retaliation. There is a ranged scout that keep you blinded 80% of the time and 3 guards that only have 10-15% HP each due to your constant AoE.
Do you:
A) Try to spike the thief? In the time you reach him, he have stealthed somewhere else and killed off a guard (or all three due to jumping attacking) to rally himself.
B) Try to melee the theif? That also kills all three guards, rallying the thief.
B) Try to range the thief? He does enough damage to kill a guard before your first scepter orb reach him. Using the staff kill everybody and rally the thief.
C) Methodically kill the scout and guards, which allow you to spike the thief without intervention? Duh, that will rally the thief instantly.
D) Give up, walk away and let the poor thief live? The guards just killed themself on your retaliation and rallied the thief.
*In the case the thief rally, he will be 100m away with 20s stealth in 3s, so we assume you cant accidentally kill him again.
Oh the choices!
I hate the downed mechanics in this game. In PVE and PVP so much depends on going down at the wrong time. Like if I am fighting some mobs and kill one right before I go down, I am screwed. Being punished for killing something too quickly isn’t a mechanic I care for.
In WvW it’s the same thing. If I am in a fight with somebody, why should I be punished for being the one that got the other player downed first just because a wolf or moa happened to be in the area for them to rally off of? The “dimension” it adds to the game is just one of randomness and luckiness to be downed at the right time. It’s a dumb one.

Not really. Lots of players pick fights near NPCs for just this reason. Good players use this to their advantage. Mediocre or worse players, get lucky. Without this mechanic, pretty much nobody would rally on their own aside from eles that mist form in front of keeps.
Ya right. Good players don’t crutch on pve rally in pvp fights.
You know there’s something wrong with the game when no one even bothers to attack the player that downed them and instead turns and immediately starts attacking any nearby mobs. I don’t like the downstate at all, but if it has to exists, there should absolutely be a separation between pvp/pve for rallies.

It certainly is based on luck whether you go down at the right or wrong time in relation to when an NPC dies. My AoEs are going to be hitting both of you, so it isn’t all in your control.
But whatever the case, it is still a stupid mechanic where you can be downed by a human player and then rally off of killing a firefly. Does that really make logical sense to you? It may be strategic, but that doesn’t make it a good mechanic.
