Rank lvl 50 to enter WvW? Suggestion for WvW!
Sounds good to me. Good idea too.

No A-net does not want to do anything to exclude a group players from casually playing the game. The queues are an big issue for the high tier server but if you are a casual wvw it easy enough for them to move to another server since theirs not a wvw guild/server tying them down. Also wvw should die down after this week. A lot of new players are trying it out to see if they want to go for some of the rewards.

Let them play, they won’t know what map to go to without being on teamspeak/discord anyways. PvE pugs will follow PvE commanders and WvW commanders will farm them, happy farmdays!
It will settle down soon.

No thanks. WvW has been empty enaugh before the patch, will be again after the hype dies down and what is most important: I don’t want new players to be brainless eotm sheep.
All we wanted was a GvG.
I’m not even in WvW but look at the map chat outside of it boys. TRUE WvW’ers are beyond angry and are expressing it. Its going to take longer then a week to get the new armor and back piece.
At first, this seems like a really good idea, but thinking it trough, since EoTM doesnt even give wvw rewards now its pretty useless.
As Ri Ba said, pvers get farmed on and on until they adapt. We (vets) can teach them. But they have to actually want to adapt and improve. Maybe at some point they get that they are ruining the game mode for other players if they dont adapt.
All i can say, stop crying, we get a lot of lootbags now + some other stuff.
Learning the basics in EoTM which is nothing like WvW? That’s… logical… I suppose…
Don’t worry; it’ll down out in the next few days once people realize what kind of jrpg grind ANet introduced.

Perhaps the claim ticket cap per week is to stop people from keeping the worlds full all the time. People might be driven to cap out and do something else.
It’s funny how a community that was once touted as friendly and helpful has now turned into players that want to exclude themselves from everyone else. Closed command groups. Restrictions on joining WvW until rank 50. DPS meters and meta groups in raids.
Oh how far you have fallen GW2 community... oh how far. =(

Trust me, it’ll die out for other reasons beyond that.
Sure the carrots are nice, but when the carrots feel like they are unreasonably out of reach people will stop caring.
So, all the rage in map/team chat and here about “PvE players” are all meaningless. You’ll have the dead game mode back shortly.

That’s really sad… I love PVE but I also love WvW and I don’t want it to die down. I don’t know if the rewards are unreasonably out of reach though. It’s literally just a waiting game. The biggest hurdle is the time gating but the rewards are something that any player can get if they put in the time. No need to get a group or want to get a guild so it should be relatively EASY, just also very time-consuming.

People in smaller servers or under-performing servers will have the worst time and the longest wait. It’s simply a bad implementation. Comparing this to raids for example, raids have a strict time gate that is set in stone and only affected by your personal skills. WvW time gate is, for one, extremely unreasonable, highly volatile, unbalanced, and heavily influenced by external factors beyond your own control.
Also, those people trying to validate the unreasonable restriction are simply being tunnel visioned attempting to justify it by claims of them playing WvW since day one. They haven’t even bothered to consider the impact on potentially new or recent players – this is extremely important especially because an expansion is on the horizon.
I’ve stated this in other threads already, but I’m sure I’ll get someone questioning me here; so, I’ll say it here. I am personally unaffected by the unreasonable restriction of 2k rank (I have over 3k). However, I am not going to pretend that this implementation was good. It is bad…and excessively unreasonable – I can’t stress this enough. I actually feel bad for people who have to grind through to 2k, especially if they are new.
It does not motivate me at all to recommend the game to an external party. Especially when I am well aware of their disgust toward jrpg grinds. In fact, it is disappointing to me to see anything like this or excessive AP grind rewards. There’s nothing attractive about them when the requirement are so unreasonable. One does not validate the other. They’re both bad!!
I know what you mean. I won’t lie, I raid regularly (pve raids) and WvW is a side past time from my raiding. The time sink for these rewards are too strict I will say that. But due to the ease of getting the rewards the trade off is taking longer and having patience. I am going to be doing WvW weekly to try for the backpiece that I would really like. However, I know it will take several months to get close to finishing it. Maybe that long-term goal is ok. A more impatient person would say this is an unreasonable requirement but because of how EASY it is to get, I think the time gate is warranted. However, with that said, what they require now is a bit too intense. I would like to see the back piece take roughly 3 months to complete. That would put it on par with the fractal back piece time gating.
One of the big issues is that, in PvP everything was done to reduce queue times to get into matches so you can work towards rewards.
Some servers are getting 1hr+ queues on every WvW map. It’s just not going to work while WvW doesn’t use megaserver tech.
I’d much rather not have to wait to play WvW, and earn rewards, than hold on to an old factioned mechanic.
Calm down. This is patchday. What else do you expect? Don’t you remember what happend on the first day of world linking?
Wait until next week. I would be surprised if there are still long queues by then. If so, players will just transfer off which is actually good to balance out population among servers.
Horrible idea, and completely unneccessary.
It’s the first day of the patch.
If you are a ‘real’ WvWer on an overstacked server and you are getting blocked out by the people drawn in by this patch, move to an understacked server or a link server.

bad idea, i started wvw last weekend with a ele healer its nice and now i gear a ventari revenant for wvw but i am not rank 50, yes i got 10+ last few days but its stuped if they make it 50 to enter. and wvw isnt difficult if you can follow a commander. for me its not hard to heal the team.
i also can say ppl with 50+ ping may not join to keep everything smooth but thats unfair for ppl with bad connection.

Yah… but the problem is when there’s an idiot with a tag posting “pip farming” on lfg and running on the ruins for 10 hours on prime time…..
Meh most of these people will be gone soon enough. They won’t last for a few different reasons. Main two reason are that WvW is way harder than they thought, and also the rewards will be very difficult for them to get. The grind will be way to hard and long for many of them. So just wait a week or two and things will calm down.

I believe the 2k rank reward shouldn’t even be a goal, but just be thought as a reward for your efforts in WvW.
The game mode was never actually about the rewards but for the fun of playing on it… The issue with the new reward system, is that yes, it attracts a lot of new blood but it hurts a lot of guilds who try their best and also are trying to teach new people how te game mode works.
You can’t play on a queued map when there’s only 1 squad with 30 people and the entire queue is running around on the ruins doing nothing…. Specially if you are on a T3 server that got a kitten up match up with 2 T1 servers, but that’s an entirely different problem.
I’m a seasoned WvWer and often spend many hours a week there, and I too have to admit I was sad that I couldn’t even get in last night (GoM server). But I agree that this is likely the result of the new armor and back item and hopefully it will go back to a more balanced wait time for us “die hard WvWers”
Perhaps a more strict AFK rule would get the queue moving faster? I hear that’s become a big issue of late.
