Q:
I’ve seen a lot of people mad about some guilds recruiting people and changing to another server. I don’t see such a big deal on it… Here is why i’m saying it:
- No guild is forcing a player to became part of it. If a player join, they did it on their own.
- No guild is forcing a player to transfer to another server. If a player do it, he did it on his own.
- No player that is loyal to their server would bail it. If a player really left a server, it means he didn’t really cared for it, thus, wasn’t a real loss.
Give your opinions about it….
A:
Free transfers should be limited to people moving to lower population servers only – with transfers to higher pop servers, even when they arent full, costing a significant number of gems. It would encourage a better spread across servers and stop the steady bleed that is making the strong stronger and weak weaker (which is not good for the competitive field across the game).
I think the free transfers were good for the first month so everyone could get where they wanted to be. They should have stopped there, now all its doing is killing of the lower servers and adding more time to Que’s for the higher servers.
Even with that said I think its to little to late now for some servers, the transfers have successfully killed them.
Very poor choice on Anets part to continue the free transfers.
I don’t like it on principle, it seems to me like vulturing into low-morale servers is a bit tasteless. At the same time, like you said the people the lower tiers are losing to T1-3 recruiters probably aren’t very fantastic or helpful anyway. So have fun with more zerg-fodder and queues in T1, I guess. Sounds like a snooze to me.
why do people still think there are ques in the game? shaka. you arent in t-1. please stop using the “they have long ques” whine as there are NO ques anymore. recycling that line makes you look angry .
I believe you raise some very good points. Clearly, the topic is very sensitive to some.
Neither I, nor the legion of minions known to me, are soliciting transfers in other servers’ chat channels. I don’t dare suggest it is not happening and I would hope that such less scrupulous tactics reflect appropriately on the recruiters (and are not generalized to tiers or servers).
Perhaps you have experienced the loss of friends or witnessed the flight of talent from your server. It can feel very demoralizing to play on a server with diminished participation. The disinterest that follows is both toxic and highly infectious. It is no wonder that many more people then take pause to reflect on their options…
Moving is a painful decision for some. Moving an entire guild can have catastrophic consequences. These are serious decisions. While I empathize, I don’t envy the struggle that brings you to the edge of such a painful decision…
Come to T1… we enjoy and appreciate a healthy culture of support for mature talent.
Transfers are welcome. Not only do we welcome fresh talent, but we discourage harassment. Anyone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and fight the good fight… becomes native. Of course there is the natural adaptation to the Jade Quarry culture, but you will face that at any server you move to. We; however, value the unique experience, strength, and hope you may add to our collective. Your DNA will mix with ours and we will all become stronger for the union.
There is no need to await some shady, drive-by recruiter to come along and lift you from the pit of your despair.
Jade Quarry has a dedicate, server-wide Teamspeak3 server for cross-guild communication and map coordination. We operate the server as an OPEN access server. This means we occasionally get lurkers. However, we do have a validation process where we verify residency. And all commanders enjoy elevated privileges to help manage the communications (or boot enemy infiltrators).
We lean very heavily toward a “leaderless” confederacy. While there are cliques — we passionately try to avoid the pitfalls of “alliances.” This means that (on occasion) our leadership will squabble a bit… but so far everyone has managed to remember that cannibalism and splash damage hurts everyone.
Why try to suck dust from the dessicated corpses of historical enemies? I know you are worthy of so much more! You deserve to drink from the chalice of triumph. You’ve earned the right to pilliage the booty of a robust enemy alongside honorable comrades!
Jade Quarry has a robust and active community website with over 2000 active (confirmed) residents: http://www.jadequarry.com And we have a dedicated team that is working on the next generation community site that will offer new tools and even better features.
We have a mixture of seasoned and veteran commanders and a pipeline of mentored talent.
It’s not all roses and pony’s… we have the usual petty bickering and qq’ing. And we face the same challenges of 24/7 commitment that all servers face; however, we do have outstanding (read HUGE and SKILLED) Oceanic representation.
But do not be misled, we barely have any queue times. And you need not fear a lack of opportunity. You can take your place among the immortal legends!
If you like Eternal Battlegrounds, we are always looking for some discipline and maturity on that map. A new guild could quickly and easily establish themselves if they chose to tackle the constant challenge of managing the more challenging map.
Admittedly, we are a difficult server to transfer to… but, I believe that everyone that has chosen to relocate here has appreciated the move. Any individual or guild that wants to dedicate themselves to JQ is welcome and their investments are appreciated.
Peace of mind awaits you. Please consider Jade Quarry your next home.
Your time is valuable, I honestly hope it is never wasted by less scrupulous solicitations. Be well.
Grass is always greener right, jade is green too. Recruitment threads like above make me green too, not with envy though.

Ah this subject is a sore spot for you or something? Transfers out of low tier into your tier would not keep you queue-less forever in theory, no? Best case scenario that this recruiting gets any sizable amount of people to transfer: you have a queue again. Worst case: you still don’t have a queue, but you picked up a handful of professional zerg scrubs looking for map completion. In any case, I’m sorry I typed words that were wrong on the internet. Forgive me. Anyway, kind of irrelevant to the question. Fundamentally, my opinion is the same.

You are attempting to justify what is commonly known in the gaming world as “poaching” .
You are essentially stealing from someone else.

I don’t see where the stealing is if you cannot force someone to do the transfer… All i see are low morale crybabies that leave their servers because they are stuck somewhere down below… I’d rather transfer myself to Eredon Terrace than Sea of Sorrows if you ask me because i don’t like the feeling of being carried. Too bad some people don’t think like that and let their old home servers to rot to become fodder in the higher tiers…
The reason people go over to other servers to recruit is because quite frankly, this game is already dying.
PvE has absolutely nothing to offer because there is little to no gear progression.
s/t PvP still lacks any kind of ladder/ranking system so high level teams hardly play vs each other.
WvWvW is filled with so many bugs that completely ruin the experience (culling/jump exploit/etcetc). There are no rivalries to spark any on going battles.. You lose? Why not join the winning server?
This game was meant to deliver e-sports level PvP and completely failed to do so. It was meant to deliver a three way massive battle, which in a way they got to work but they simply did not forsee it becoming the main attraction of GW2.
Then there are the big number of people who came from Guild Wars 1. The game that kept on going because of rivalries and epic battles, the game that actually lived up to its name; GUILD WARS. Where is the Guild vs Guild feature?
ANet created a product that was meant to deliver on so many aspects and basically only delivered on one. This game is the best looking MMO I’ve played, that’s pretty much it.
You are attempting to justify what is commonly known in the gaming world as “poaching” . You are essentially stealing from someone else.
Or it is what the rest of the (informed) world calls “marketing” for the purpose of “securing market share.” Unfortunately, it is too easy to objectify talent (human resources).
To qualify as theft, ownership is implied. Ownership of people is illegal in most countries — or are you suggesting that players are slaves to the server they join?
If you hold or advocate a position of slavery, there is little value in debating further.
The actual question about queues is will they return when the Summer months hit? Gaming communities wane around this time of year across the board.
I got the impression that the high tier servers tend to lose more players than they gain from demi-elitist guilds that transfer to some low server to stomp WvW several weeks in a row until they can’t carry the entire server against native populations.
The way ANet stops you from gaining WvW % bonuses for two weeks after xfer really gets rid of the most ridiculous xfer abuse so populations are more determined by players that go PvE if they aren’t winning and those that actually want to compete. For the latter group there’s unfortunately this problem where they’ve got to pick a server blindly and spend a good many hours experiencing the game before they know what WvW actually is, much less if they want to really sink a lot of time into it.
Even if it always took gems to move servers this would just inconvenience the low level (or fresh 80) players while letting the power gamers leave masses of players at utterly demoralizing odds as they spent several weeks dropping tiers with no hope of ever going back up.

There was much in your entire post that I found well argued and thoughtful. This last bit; however, stands out. Since I really dislike conflating the issues of recruiting, talent exodus, and server-to-server transfers, I like how you gave me something to think about without entanglements.
These thoughts will be assimilated. We will add this distinctiveness to our own.
I would tend to agree with you on your point of economic disparity. I know of several hardcore individuals and a few elite guilds that wouldn’t bat an eyelash at 2500 gems per transfer with no time limitations. Where as, I also know some who would find 10 gems to be an economic stressor.
Where is Scrooge McDuck when I need him? While [TW] can afford to pay their own way, we are going to need to factor in all the gems that might be required to get [SF], [MORD], [MERC], and [FANG] to transfer to the new Sea of Storm Quarry server.
Where did I leave my kitten pony?
