Guild Wars 2

So here is a video i put up from our stay over on the american tier 1. In this video there is Wvwvw roaming action and then organized guild vs guild toward the end. It was a very enjoyable week over there for us it must be said and i want to thank JQ for having us and SOS and BG for providing us with some great action.

Again this is not an kitten video or a keeping score video this is sort of a way to promote guilds actually fighting each other which in my opinion is a great part of the game. So i would like to thank VOTF and HB for giving us some great fights.

Have you ever tried to loot when Sacrx is leading hahaha That would be an experience for you kind sir.

Yeah, looting is best served for after the fight. GvG battles have been great fun so far, I hope the trend will continue and we’ll see other guilds participating later on.

Video was excellent, as always! Some of the open field fights we had versus SoS were absolutely insane – the numbers they can bring are somewhat scary. While I would have loved for other guilds than just VoTF from SoS to fight us, they certainly brought a lot of action in the battle itself. A very well-organized server in that regard.

RG is back on Piken. Had a good time in America, but wanted to transfer as many as possible to EU before payed transfers. Perhaps we will be back on NA servers at some point.

You should totally set up some fights versus VoTF, I bet they’d be up for fighting you lot. I would be very interested in seeing how those fights turn out!

I rarely see guardian play as good as that in WvW and everyone was really sharp with timing and key skills (Veil, etc).

Question: do you have specific builds / composition or just design the tactics around what classes your guild members are playing?

Just like in real life, teamplay is what it’s all about.

Like everyone in the game we try to complement eachother in regards to builds and tactics, but we run with what we got and aim to make the best of it.

Very nice vid to demonstrate how complelty broken the cond cremoval is in this game.

However, the attempts at quasi-GvG in the field look more like a very dumb version of HA from GW1, which itself was a gimmick laden format. The thing is this game is called “Guild Wars” we wanted to try something on an equal ground. Not who has the most numbers, something on an equal ground. This sort of thing might be frowned upon but i don’t think the people that were involved cared at all to be honest. We will offer any guild going for a direct Guild vs. Guild with Red Guard. Everybody knows what the crack is before they jump in.

I remember encountering what I thought was 5 members of VOTF at Umber clustered together next to that hill. As soon as I got in range I saw a swarm of 10+ players & my character fully dead in less than a second.

Very nice video’s RG … I always enjoy seeing how well top tier guilds move and play. That includes the opponents, who you have provided credit to on our NA servers.

gj putting them together too (the videos) to whomever is doing that. Hope one day to battle you guys in GvG style, but until then can only learn, practice, and have fun.

I think it is obvious that what RG is doing shouldn’t be the goal of “GvG” combat…. but it is still some of the most fun they’ve had yet and more importantly is just a step along the path towards more practiced/organized warfare. People are still just learning how good some of the skills are in the hands of expert players.

In all the WvW games before this the combat between experts became pretty idiosyncratic, almost degenerate in a lot ways. However already I see a lot of good things in the base system that A.net has in place. Skills that block movement and projectiles, pushes, pulls, short duration invisibility, portal and other things that are about movement, positioning and timing are a really good start to combat that has a lot of flexibility and makes the “mind games” aspects of GvG really interesting (knowing your opponents tendenacies, using feints and lures, etc).

I can see why A.net wants an AoE nerf though, it looks like from what RG is doing that individual targetting / shutdown is just not as important as it should be. How does RG feel about that?

@Grimpaw its not AoE per say its the mele train i.e. mele weapons which hit in an arc infront, Anet will not nerf them as they are considered single targed. The only mele single target weapon is dagger?
