This was honestly heartbreaking. Our guild lead about 70 people on our borderlands (which was nearly every single person) to attempt to take the orb from Isle of Janthir. We depleted a full 1700 supplies from Askalion where their orb was being kept. We had 2 golems, trebuchats, and various siege.

We broke through the outer gate, and had the second gate down to half health, when another commander named Pelum from the guild Dark Immunity came into the borderlands and started ostracizing our guild about taking the orb. We asked him for help, but he refused to help. There’s apparently stigma around our guild No Fun Allowed, the 4chan guild. So he refuses to help and walks into the front of Askalion, and kicked about four members of his own guild who were helping the seige. He then proceeds to recruit for his guild., and leaves the borderlands, telling other people to avoid our guild.

This is unacceptable behavior from a commander on this server.

TL;DR: Our guild has capped, fully upgraded, and defended our homeworld garrison for the past 2 days. We held off an attack from both IOJ and FA at the same time, in which the keep lord died and resurrected 4 times. We had an opportunity to take an orb back for our server, and was refused help from another large guild residing on our server, who has a stigma to avoid us like the plague, just for being from 4chan.

He got that commander title to powertrip and would not like anyone to take that importance away from him. He needs to be his own special little snowflake.

Caught the end of this, so didn’t really see what happened. Been in the SoS battlegrounds with Pelum before and they certainly seemed ok.

Then again, SoS is struggling at the moment – we never seem to have enough people in the right place being organised enough to do anything. And on top of that we have our own guilds going after each other. Instead of the INVADERS.

Almost makes me ashamed to be on SoS. No I don’t have a Commander title, and it’s hard to get people to follow directions anyway :/

Sooo unprofessional.. so sad for SoS. If you got that kind of commander then it’s all over. Anyway I’m not from SoS but this interests me =S Is this martial law? XD

In all seriousness if I had the money I’d pick up the Commander title and give it a go, because at least people seem to listen sometimes to them. 100g is a lot of money though :P

Love WvW though, reminds me of DAoC so much. Just wish we could get SoS firing on all cylinders at the enemies rather than each other.

Things like this = why I finally gave in to all the requests for me to buy commander. I saw some of the others who were aiming for it and thought, “well… I sure don’t want that guy to get one and there to be no one with presence / server trust to discredit them…”. =/

This is just horrible. It vibrantly shows the stigma our guild possesses for being from 4chan, even though we were one of the first guilds to mount a serious WvW effort post-release.

We’ve held our own against the most prominient guilds of every server we’ve been pitted against, guilds which outclass every guild in SoS;
We’ve funded the war effort with countless gold, always making sure that siege equipment would be available to everyone who knew how to use it, even if it meant having too much of one particular construct;
We’ve coordinated attacks with other guilds multiple times, always being as friendly, helpful and reasonable as we could be.

And then this Pelum “person” comes in, flaunting his prosthetic unmentionables and blaming us for SoS’ losses when he’s the one who is just watching other people do everything, and he ends up kicking people who help the war effort. I hope I’m not the only one seeing the filthy hypocrisy in this.

I fear for this SoS Alliance, with him as a founder.

As I write this, the SoS garrison is being taken by IoJ and only 10 people are there defending it, some being the FUN members that are awake at this forsaken hour; so I ask you: where is Pelum and his guild to make his so called “difference”?

To be honest, it is the problem with FUN and Pelum. Both have been flaming each since Pelum became a commander (can’t provide chat logs – don’t find them worthy of printscreen). Pelum does not act badly anywhere else (just not “smart” enough); FUN is not a bad guild either. Just don’t bring them together; for example, during ETvsSoS match-up FUN plainly refused to help him as well (again no chat logs).

Usually Pelum only acts with success in defence, don’t expect proper offence analysis from him. You will find that much less people listen to him than to Jedahs, for example.

Sad, but really just political. Silly that people let their egos get in the way.

The first time I saw Phelum was during the week match against eredon, and the first thing I see him doing is standing at spawn and bad mouthing ‘scrub’ guilds, claiming that they were taking up valuable slots on the borderland (even though there was no queue at the time), and he singled out FUN multiple time for no reason that I have been able to discover since.

He repeatedly called us a disgrace, a waste of space and bads, most of the time while doing absolutely nothing at spawn. Dispite this we’ve always been willing to work with him and his guild, yet he continuously acts like a kitten to FUN, and altogether refuses to help.

With today’s attack on Askalion he was being clearly immature, trying to make us upset in map chat, claiming how he was “taking his guild members out of our zerg”, mockingly saying good luck with our reduced numbers. he later came over to the fight with his guild members, not to help, but to kick his own guild mates who were trying to help us, before telling us he was leaving with all his guild mates.

Pretty much every time I’ve seen him in WvW I’ve seen him insults “certain guilds” or just outright FUN, talking about how terrible we are, about how great his guild is, and how everyone should merge into it.

If he doesn’t want to help us, I honestly don’t care, but it’s a problem when he is publicly trying to weaken our WvW efforts, and publicly insulting us.

Political drama is part of the package in games where you can experience “teamwork”.

Hey OP, having experienced some players doing similar but no way as damaging crap as this. I’ve got to say I’m sorry. I myself am trying to organize my server (Deso) so reading this made me sick.

As a moderator of the Sea of Sorrows Union, I would first like to apologize on behalf of the Union. It is my view that ALL of the guilds of Sea of Sorrows need to work together if we are to succeed in World vs. World.

The Union recently had it’s first meeting and we gave guilds a priority map order. Unfortunately the first day we had very few guilds on and the queues were disrupting any real progress. So with that being said, I’d like to thank FUN for joining in on the fight in SoS Border.

FUN, I have asked one of the other Moderators, Marcus Harlion, to speak to you, but I would also like to personally extend an invitation to you to join the Sea of Sorrows Union.

I’m gonna have to disagree with you there; tis not just a FUN vs Pelum’s Guild issue since Pelum is the self-proclaimed founder of the SoS Alliance. And Pelum’s ability to lead is mediocre at best and he’s an extremely petty person, and this isn’t an insult because tis a well-known fact in WvW SoS.

Also, when he allegedly asked for help all he did was sit in spawn barking stupid orders while FUN was busy with the war effort, ergo the denial of assistance. If you want assistance with sitting in spawn then ask a guild that doesn’t have its hands full.

He doesn’t have the sensibility, tolerance, common sense and intelligence to properly plan an assault on a supply camp, much less anything else. His commander title wasn’t earned, and now he’s just on a powertrip against a guild that has bled for its victories and his [Pelum] own guild members, members who were kindhearted and decent, and wanted to help. Him announcing that he was kicking everyone who was helping FUN was the last straw: the guy is scum.

With this, I apologize to everyone who has been kicked or has been ostracized because of helping FUN. I speak as a single entity, as a FUN general and, this time, as the whole guild. We are sorry and we hope to play with you guys again. Thank you for sticking with us.

Ooooh you claimed an entire map in non-peak hour, how impressive. You know, our oceanic guys have done that quite a few times, even taken the entire WvW all by themselves. Nothing impressive about taking stuff during off-peak hours against servers without heavy oceanic presence. Don’t be such a jerk, not to mention making yourself look like even more of an idiot. After seeing the screenshots above you should be ashamed as it is to even say anything to these guys, especially on the forums. There was no reason at all for what you said above, no matter what a guilds reputation is. I’d help the supposedly worst guild around if they were already in a keep about to take an orb from an enemy. This right here is the reason the commander icon should not cost gold, because then people with no sense will have it, and by the time people realize not to follow them, it will be too late and the damage is done.

I’m also a moderator of SoSU. I can only echo what Kelthos has already stated. This situation is unfortunate, and I’d like to extend an olive branch to the members of FUN.

Bottom line is, we need everyone in this if we are going to make this work.

This is just a problem with making Commander something bought with gold alone. It turns it into a situation where any schmo who exploited tin on the AH or cooking in the early weeks is allowed to attention-slag for a few weeks. For good or ill, with time everyone will be a Commander, gold isn’t that hard to come by.

This is sad, I feel for you guys and hope you’ll find a respectable group of people to ally with in the following weeks to come.

I also feel sorry for anyone who footed the bill for this man. I don’t see charisma or an award winning personality to warrant the wasted 100 gold. I don’t see anyone following him in the future as long as this thread is civil and helps to spread the word of what a terrible leader is in your midst.

Whilst it is a frustrating situation, it is now under control. It does not help Sea of Sorrows at all to split the server like that.

I’m from ET and wow i didnt know there was this much infighting. Didnt feel like there was this much hate within the SoS server cause it felt like all the hate was being directed at ET instead. Guess when we got shifted to a different group, you guys lost your target dummy :S

Sad thing is, Pelum is probably the best commander we have. I assume you have had past altercations with certain guilds, but perhaps instead of simply telling them to get out of the map, take their hand and guide them to the light. The most frustrating part of wuvwuv isn’t losing, it’s having leaders bicker. Saying that, I’d love to see us all get along and kick some IOJkitten by the end of the week!

Pelum, I’m gonna have to ask for proof on that (the 5 to 7 people who did that were trying to make a protest, while the actual force was hard at work. I’d be happy if we could afford having 30 people doing nothing, since it meant that our force was 100+).

Also, the person who has the commander title in our guild bought it by him/herself and doesn’t seem to care much about WubWub, just controlling the market, which is a commendable effort by itself, wish I could do it but I’m too stupid.

Lastly, I don’t get what you’re even trying to prove with this post.

Wow. I feel bad for you guys on SoS. I’m on IoJ, and when i read this post, my first thought was “Holy crap! They go inside hills?!” We had that place defended really well the last time i logged on!

SoS has been a great opponent, and it’s sad to see their guilds not working together like that. IoJ guilds all seem to be willing to put aside any differences (if there are any?!) for the greater good. The only thing that bugs me is the new guilds that hopped over yesterday, after we were winning.

GL to SoS. I hope crap like this gets sorted and we can have plenty more epic battles!

Nah we just worked out whichever wuvwuv map the union is in we send FUN to a different one.

We made a compromise. Whilst we have not yet spoken with FUN, we still want to include them in the Union.

Some guilds are unwilling to cooperate with FUN, however, this does not mean we should not exclude anyone from the Union.

As Pelum said, Brynna and I (moderators of Union) will coordinate with guilds to have the guilds work on different maps. If the guilds do not want to work together, we will find other guilds that are willing.

Ok guys let’s get something clear, Our guild “The Seagull” has been part of the sosu from the start, as well as that we have been working with pelum and “dark immunity” for the past week and i can vouch on behalf of our guild that he is a very good commander.

Now i don’t know the history between u two, but i know his very good at leading his guild and he actually listen to advice. Too all those people that are talking bad about pelum, especially if your not on sos and u don’t understand the whole story please do not comment and blame him for everything. He might spent 100g to buy the commander icon, but i can tell you he knows his right. And to the “fun” guild i have seen you guys in action since the game came out, and seriously u guys aren’t that good. You have a really bad reputation during oceanic time, as many of your member just capture supply camp for exp, karma, and gold and does not help the server in anyway. When i spoken to one of your member regarding the issue while he was recruiting more members for the “fun” guild, he said it was tactic when clearly it wasn’t.

Now lets talk about the “fun” leadership and the “Di” leadership. You guys were on our (SoS) borderland trying to take our stuff back from Ioj correct.

Well Di and the gulls was on ioj borderland. We went there with nothing own by us., everything was own by ioj and fa. Now if u look at the ioj borderland we took 2 tower n 2 keep and the orb. What did u guys take??? Last i check it was 2 tower? but correct me if I’m wrong.

The GM of FUN didn’t want to tell his guild members what or what not to do when they were enjoying the game. If his guys were jumping around in a jump puzzle (this is such a silly argument) then wouldn’t that be… kind of… ok? Alright – got it – WvW is srs business. I just wanted to point out that not all GMs take the approach that their guild is a military labor camp where your soul is strapped to the wrong end of a flame ram.

Pelum rolls over and -stops- his guild members from participating in the attack on a keep. They were wanting to actively participate in WvW and he wouldn’t let them?

I mean… as an outside GM just reading a couple lulz posts in the morning… I think this thread takes the cake.

I am not in FUN but I have been disappointed by the attitude displayed by some of these people. The prestigious [LING] guild supports unity – or at least peaceful coexistence – and the things that have been said by certain people with the Commander tag and their associated supporters have been quite insulting and divisive.

Everyone on the server should feel welcome in Wuv, and feel like they have a valued place helping our shared cause. I can’t help but feel that certain parties’ actions have been ruled by their egos rather than the pursuit of fun or the success of the server.

Let’s not be one of those servers with elitist guilds sneering down their noses at everyone about how badly they’re carrying them and whatnot while conveniently ignoring everything done that doesn’t involve them. Let’s work together and put aside egos to make SoS a better place.

This guy lacks swagger, but what he doesn’t lack is your keep.

I would kindly ask any Union members to please refrain from any further comments on this thread. It is counter-productive and only serving to exacerbate the issue.
