I miss it and I know most of you do to as well… Anet please bring those days back…??? I want to see a lot more skill groups running around not just blobs :/ i miss dying to power builds… not condi :,) I loved it when everyone was running power not condi… condi wars ruined WvW for me…

The game used to be so amazing. Series of MANY bad decision has drastically altered and ruined the flow of the gameplay that WvW was intended to have.

When the game was released it was possible for a group of 10 to beat a group of 30 if they played better. Now only numbers matter, which is why so many people left and are playing other games.

Anet isn’t going to understand why people miss old days :,) because they are too busy fixing kitten they introduced with HoT and most of it should just be removed including revenant and specializations

No they won’t, they had an amazing group of players in wvw and competitive play right under their noses and failed to see what they had.

The thought of them concentrating on another expansion should be a clear idea of what they are all about, cashing in and moving on. Lost a lot of players because of their decision making.

They should make a expansion which allows players to remove all HoT BS and see how much money they will make.

Engineer, mesmer and thief all had strong condi builds for roaming.

Nowadays all I see while roaming are power builds.
Compared with vanilla the amount of condi builds I meet has actually decreased.

I can’t figure out why my world doesn’t have as many players in WvW as the other worlds. I log in and I usually find the outnumber icon up. Between CD and SF, my world is always outnumbered.

The huge blobbing is big drag on internet/computer. The lag is an issue for others more than me. My comp and internet can handle it. But the blobbing is major headache all around.

Back then you had condi mesmer, condi thiefs and few condi Necros.
Now you have condi mesmer, condi thiefs, condi mesmer, condi warriors, condi revs, condi rangers lol everything is condi.
Yes blobbing was also a thing back then but you also had skilled group killing those blobs all you see now days is blobs everywhere no skilled groups.
Back then yes I also fought a lot of power builds and I enjoyed fighting power now you just fight condi every where….

Most common classes/builds I see roaming in order:
Warrior: Power a/sh gs Berserker or Rifle Berserker
Mesmer: Condi sc/sh Chronomancer
Thief: Power d/p Daredevil or Condi p/d
Engineer: Power hammer Scrapper
Revenant: Power sw/sh Herald
Elementalist: Power/Celestial d/f Tempest
Ranger: Power gs/staff or Power lb/staff Druid
Necromancer: Condi/Power Reaper
Guardian: Power lb Dragonhunter
Yes, there are a handful of other condi builds like condi engi, condi lb ranger, condi ele, condi warrior, and condi revenant; however, these builds are significantly less common than the ones I listed above them. I usually only see at most one person per matchup on those builds.
The most common condition builds do happen to be the among the more common enemies though. Most mesmers and about a fifth of thieves run condi in the matchups I’ve played. Despite this, the majority of foes I face are still runnig power. Best you can do is avoid them if you don’t counter them. If you want to counter them, Tempest totally lols against condi.

More importantly, the powercreep has helped ruin WvW. I miss when being more skilled actually rewarded you, builds had risk involved. Nowadays, thanks to HoT builds, you get more room for mistakes/leeway during combat. HoT builds have so many get-out-of-jail free cards, it’s ridiculous.

Revenant without Herald is kinda fair compared to the other core classes (which means: it sucks just like the rest compared to HoT Elites). I wouldn’t mind keeping them.

Pre-specialisation/HoT WvW was utterly fantastic and infinitely better than what we have now. The fights both small scale and large were fabulous. I miss it greatly and feel sorry for those that never got to experience the game mode sans the unmanageable power creep.

If they focused more on GvG and WvW for PvP competitive play things could have been a lot different and better now.
Remember that this game had a vibrant GvG population that any other game would envy to have,and they were absolutely ignored to the point where most of them gave up and left.

I don’t think the HoT elite specs should go away as well, but wow could they be toned down. They are out of control and use very little skill, but they did add some flavor to certain classes. I just don’t see anet doing anything constructive to help the wvw crowd in the long run. They seem more concerned about expansions and milking rather than producing a polished product.

Epic editing paired with epic good ‘ol fights. If Anet can somehow bring the balance back I wish they’re release this kind of videos for advertisement. I mean I totally got chills just from the intro.

many of the reasons power builds were phased out wasn’t actually condi, it was other power builds gaining in popularity.

Many thieves didn’t abuse d/p properly for a LONG time, but when it caught on, the roaming meta instantly lost 80% of viable power roaming setups.

I also miss those days, but there were other issues that led to the roaming meta changes beyond just Dire and condi buffs.

I don’t have a problem with the elite specs. They’ve made the game a lot more enjoyable to play. I think a lot of the complaints will die down after the next expansion when there are another set and you’re picking between two. The real issue is that there weren’t that many decent trait lines to begin with, so taking an elite spec is a no-brainer in most cases. Bringing the deficient trait lines (and they all aren’t deficient) up to par would be better than messing with the elite specs. Havok fights are fantastic right now playing with and against elite specs.

The good ole days without all the HoT bullcrap added and the 5!! trait lines to pick from. Ok it was not that perfect but still better what we have these days.

The “condi was always OP” depends on what “vanilla” you talk about. Before April 15th 2014 (Introduction of ferocity) condi wasn’t that much of a threat. But because power was nerfed with ferocity, albeit condi stayed the same, condi became OP. Doesn’t mean condi couldn’t be strong before that.
Nowadays the trait merge and HoT-Elites led to a powercreep. Condi per se isn’t OP but certain conditions are way too overpowered and way too easily applied. Others were toned down.
The game as it is now is a mess and I would pay a lot of money to roll it at least 1,5 years back, yes. But we all know this ain’t gonna happen. So it’s PvE for me.

ETA: The players have changed, btw: Post ferocity a lot chose not to run condi because it was mindless – these players now mostly have left. Those who are still playing are those who pick the easiest class with a metabuild to win win win. Would be funny to roll back the game and kill all these players as they are carried hard by their builds.

I don’t get your point here… You’re just showing off that you could win a 1v3 back then just as you still can today? Nobody said people couldn’t do that before… Hell, how you think fight guilds would take blobs of twice or triple their size if people couldn’t win outnumbered fights?

The powercreeping issue here is: You cannot play competitively right now if you don’t pick a elite spec. You’ll be extremly uneffective compared to the others. And because of that it reduce build verierity as you will only have 2 other trait lines to change since one will always be the elite.

I can only think in maybe 3 builds that could work out without their elite specs without struggling extremely hard, and 2 of them are condi based (which isn’t any epitome of skill-based play). All others fall flat when compared to their elite counterparts.

Plz no… I remember when BS did 15v15 with STAR… They had like 15 Guards/Warriors all full PVT and dropped at least 7 Warbanners during that fight. It was a shameful sight.

Well due to builds and the lack of focus on GvG, people went roaming or blobbing. In the last 2 months ive seen only 1 GvG. People tried to organize by themselves with spreadsheets so other guilds dont fight at the same spot etc. etc. The lack of anets support + the condi crap got it down. Tbh Rev was strong in GvG but not overpowered if you had a focus party for rev + necro + ele

Sad that all those players left the game or are playing sPvP/PvE now, cos of lack of development towards GvG and WvW from Anet and lack of interest from devs. Also a lot of nerfs towards guilds and small groups didn’t help it. And finally nerf of MT nailed it and forced guilds and HC players to quit the game, cos c’mon… where is fun in condi pirate ship?

Everything is reverted back to vanilla wvw game play once for a match up maybe every three months. I think old guilds would come back just to hang out, might be interesting.

The Ajax I remember on Kaineng was a decent wvw’er, but had this whole shtick of abusing everyone in map chat…..it got old in a real hurry….but my guild friends did tell me that it was just an act that he and his little squad ran….and to just ignore him.

I hadn’t seen him on wvw for a long time, until I saw him right after Kaineng got paired up with TC in the linking. I will admit that it was hilarious fun watching him get shut down extremely quick by TC’ers when he started to run his abusive shtick in map chat there.
