They should allow either wvw map completion or pve map completion. Fair is fair.
If you whine enough as pve player you get what you want.
I been whining about WvW for a whike now and we only get one new borderland map and no fixes to server population.
It’s happening because with the new BL, map completion will be impossible since you can’t get to the old BL.
So set the new map for map completion. Gw2.5 is PVE focused, they don’t want to anger people with the possibility of being killed by a player.
Some people are excited because its a pain in the butt, but some people like me for example we feel bad about it because Hey all this effort all this time wasted to get that one Poi or that Vista on the enemy Garrison. I have 5 characters with 100% on wvw and i feel bad about it now. Where is my reward? I didn’t waste all this time for nothing.
Developers have gone on about the players who were not able to find the strength to discover the 100% World. Oh my God. I just completed 100% World with one another of my characters. This IS a Challenge, not for everyone.
I demand that they remove PvE from Map completion for WvW players!!!!

Agreed, this is stupid.
I hated having to complete every square inch of all the pve zones far more than waiting for a few rotations to access a few keeps…
WvW map completion is easy compared to PvE map completion.
The reason WvW being part of map completion is a problem is because if you happened to roll a character on a bad WvW server you have 0 chance of ever completing it. You shouldn’t be forced to switch servers to finish content. If you had no problems getting any portion of the wvw map consider yourself lucky.
I can accept this reason, although even then, joining up with a focused group should allow a player to access most areas in one colour rotation.

If this is a resolution to long queue times, then I am for the changes., however what about all the people that paid out the nose to switch servers to get WVW map completion? They’re going to be a little upset.

That is false. You always had a chance because you never always play the same color. It might be long to get without any fighting, but hardly impossible even if you can’t be bothered to fight at all.
Color doesn’t matter when you never hold the bottom half of your borderlands. Or if you are lucky to hold your keep each week. Some bottom tier servers are that bad, and their only option for a legendary is to buy it outright.
I was on a completely dead WvW server at one point. I had to switch to Jade Quarry when free server transfers were allowed to finish map completion. You can’t fully understand unless you are in that position. If I started out on SBI (the server I’m on now) it would be easy to tell people to just wait for a color rotation.

Even if you are on a bad server, it doesnt mean you cannot get a group to take a tower.
Simple fact is that these PvE players are simply too lazy to spend their gold on siege and the time required to take a tower. And the time required is pretty short, even if there are defenders.
I’ve seen a 3 man team take a tower even in T1 servers! Lower tiers have no excuse!
The removal of WvW points from map completion is not only ridiculous but also contradictory of what anet say. They want players to explore all aspects of the game, but then remove the need to explore in WvW.
Do you remember map completion in GW1? Remember those really nasty areas of the map where you had to get right up next to the edge, in some cases you even had to try to glitch yourself to a spot in order to get 100% completion of a zone! Did anet ever fix that, i dont think they did. So why this continues support to make things easier for PvE players?
And with all this important talk about WvW, one has to ask, Where is Marmatt?!!! 17 days since his last post. I though these forum specialists were supposed to be active on their specific forum sections?!

I’ve been in those shoes (not trying for map completion but on low tier server) and I can say that once I figured out that I had to run supply by myself there wasn’t a tower I couldn’t cap with just a little bit of time.

I usually play PvE and sPvP but I did dabble a lot in WvW. The problems that steer me away are more to do with the map being full of people not intending to actually play WvW as they are just there mapping.
Tbf there is already an aspect of legendaries that are WvW based, the Gift of Battle, and no doubt the new legendaries will likely have another WvW based Gift. So why world completion was part of it anyway was beyond me, considering it is also 2 different maps but you have to do one map 3 times over and most of the time wait for your server to rotate to that borderland.
The WvW community also complained about “PvEers” mapping and not actually contributing in WvW.
Either way, the problem with WvW isn’t to do with legendary scavenger mechanics, it’s to do with the attention it requires to function effectively, like actual new content similar to what PvE gets. Though PvP has been largely neglected content wise over all.

It got you a more sense of community rather than pretend you’re in your own world apart from your server (though after megaserver, who in PvE even cares about what WvW server you’re on? What sense of community is there that PvE folk on Server A have any community with the WvW folk on server A?)

Last part is true in everything that involves the opinions of at least two people. No reason to beat up on WvW folk.

To add to that, the removal of the WvW map completion was at a cost for WvWers. Map completion was a pretty big thing that pulled people into trying out standard — non-EotM — WvW. And to make matters worse, it removed WvWers access to the map completion rewards to make the least rewarding of the three game modes even less rewarding.

Sadly, most WvW tactics are exactly the same. Repetitive, boring and predictable, and the potential to change WvW is in the hands of the players who blame the system that the tactics are repetitive boring and predictable or glitchy.
Of course none of that is of actual concern here.
Anyway, a legendary weapon mostly had been a PvE thing for quite some time. Even PvPers can’t get map completion through their game mode so nothing of that is new. And new legendaries will most likely be a reward in only HoT content. So that trend will most likely continue. There would be a need for a whole different method of acquiring legendary-making materials in WvW for it to work.
That said, the original idea of making legendaries available in all three game modes equally is very much impossible. There will always be one mode where it’s much easier to get it than others, and people will most likely exploit that.
The truth of the matter remains that WvW is very limited in player attainable goals that are of similar value as their PvE counterparts. I don’t think giving a gift of exploration for full WvW map completion would be very fair as it is only 4 maps maybe 5 with EotM.
However a small reward for completing WvW map completion should be a thing in my opinion. Where a gift of exploration is probably too much, something else that entices people to play WvW for that would be pretty cool.
My 2 cents.
I was finishing my 2nd character last spring for map completion and only needed Bay for my last POI in the TC Borderlands. We had the numbers present to easily take the objective but the commander told me that he would not because he had an agreement with Tarnished Coast not to.
I had to wait until the end of the Tournament to complete it and it was then that I joined the list of players who wanted it removed.
Not because I didn’t want to have to do it but because there are times where it was beyond my control to complete the objective.
