Not nerf, all that have to go! I don’t want the enemy killed by gimmicks, I want to PvP them, not push a button and make them log out.

We choose a class to play it, to enjoy the fun of that fight system, against the players. Not to keep it unused, while watching them being obliterated by some guild upgrades earned in PvE (not even if were earned in WvW).

These takes away all the fun, from both attacker and defender. We simply just watch, instead of playing. Why log into such a game? Let us enjoy the struggle of a difficult battle, let us fight for victory or death. Give the game back to us, let us what we do during a fight decide the outcomes.

Airship was nerfed previously, but not enough.

Cloaking waters needs a much longer cooldown on the cloak once it is up IMO. You shouldn’t be able to reuse it again and again after going back into SMC.

+1, they should be removed, these gimmicks don’t add anything to player vs player combat. Nothing worse than a fully fortified, siege capped smc, defended by a map blob who have access to these cheese.

These annoying gimmicks have pushed a lot of players away from WvW because they make large scaled player vs player combat not fun. They represent all that’s wrong with what HoT expansion did to WvW, along with the horribly designed Desert Borderlands & the failed Oasis event.

Everything in WvW should be Player driven and have a counter. Not stupid gimmicky nonsense like " attacked by aliens from the sky you cannot do anything about". that is not fun and only takes away from the gameplay rather than add to it. they need to revert WvW to pre Hot then start over with their plan here because these HoT Gimmicks, fog, banners, airships, guild upgrades, auto everything, nonsense popping out of the ground.. it was all terrible. It all needs to go and then actually put out player surveys to players that actually play wvw to choose what content is added before doing something so absurd next time.

And what are you going to do against large mega servers with full map blobs in a fully sieged up and fortified smc, while using airship, chilling fog, iron hide, and invis fountains against smaller servers? OH right, they make things much much worse.

No these things don’t help smaller servers, they give you the illusion they do. But in reality, they help the larger servers more than anything else. Because it’ll be the larger servers with coverage that’ll hold smc more than smaller servers do. What they’ll do though, is to turn what was once a hard long siege, into impossible siege.

Same thing with banners, they help larger zergs more than anything because it’s the larger servers with coverage that’ll hold more assets, and have access to more banners.

I dont think you realize what asking them to fix " population balance" means. Every server is going to be a mega server when it is resolved, and you will no longer have set communities as you do now as it will just be EoTM mess mushed up together..
Of course I have offered alternatives, but I do not see that on the table as of now.

There isn’t going to be any such thing as “smaller servers” in the end. Them " fixing population issues" means forced of mushing everyone up like EoTM. WvW as we know it would be no more.

If you can’t take smc in a 20v20 when 1 side has airship, then you couldn’t take it if the entire castle was removed and it was just 20v20+lord. Meaning your group is simply weaker than the other. I’m not EU so no bias towards either side, don’t care which of you wins.

On topic: NO, it was not “exhilarating” and it gives no “valid fighting chance”. That can’t even be called “fighting”. Was the same as the ground simply collapsing and killing all your enemies or them being launched on an orbit around SM by a GM hand…

These pranks are what kill the desire of ever stepping in the WvW again. You want your enemy to come back and you should want your enemy to enjoy a fight just as much as you do… Right? You NEED to have enemies, who are willing to fight back, who make the game fun. Enemies are just as important as allies, even more so.

Making the players quit the game mode never solves balance, adding tools that simply obliterates one side without any way to counterplay neither. Also this isn’t about balancing population numbers and these are usable by both side, so aren’t meant to help the weaker side.

What? In even numbers in a structure, the defense always has the advantage even without tactivators because the offense needs to push on them. What are chokes? What are sieges? What is the need to use stab first than the enemy? Do you even play this game?

They should be only available if you’re outmanned. Maybe with this the outmanned buff is worth something.

They should remove all the WvW gimmicks and bring back Stability. Then, we can deal with server populations. The reasons I posted above are the reason most players left to begin with.

With the Chilling Fog and Air Ship defense (even nerfed like it is now) is too OP. These are just gimmicks, like the Emergency WP, isn’t that what we have Mesmers for? We didn’t have these E WP’s before and defense of Keeps still happened and was actually fairer to the opposing team.

I don’t think we’re playing the same game. The damage and CC from the air strike alone turn it into a 20v40. Toss banners, cannons, ACs and shield generators in for good measure.

Exactly and don’t forget Emergency WP’s, which can pull the defenders in with overwhelming force.

I know A.Net wanted defense to be important, but now it is the Offense that is crippled into the dust.

Airship really just needs a cooldown increase (maybe 30-40 minutes). Having 15 minutes downtime isn’t really an awful lot in the context of a fight over a T3 SMC. I’ve seen SMC fights that took over an hour before. As an overall feature it’s not actually that bad. I mean, not only do you have to get into a position where you can make it, but at current prices, each one costs 17.33g and takes 16 hours to build. All it really needs is a transition from “oh, someone’s inside the outer, let’s pull it” to “well, we really ought to save that in case we’re actually in trouble”.

I think anet didn’t think enough here. A lot of the big tacticals were produced from pure hype. If they had thought more then perhaps they would have also asked not only ‘can we put this in?’ but also ‘should we put this in?’ Basics is you have an idea, you test it, then you decide if it should actually be included.

Things like airship defense and banners are far too powerful. They may be expensive but that simply puts them out of smaller guilds/servers range. Effectively they amount to a massive buff for top servers and give nothing to lower/weaker ones.

The auras need to be reduced too. They presently give a 100 buff to defenders, 50 or even 30 would be better.

All of it, needs to go and w/e the guilds spent to make them should be refunded. As if bunkering and siegehumping wasn’t bad enough all this crap does it ruins fights because now people just run as fast as possible to use every gimmick as it comes off cool down instead of focusing on actually fighting an enemy. There is no strategic value the way this garbage is setup, it just promotes a very unhealthy gameplay that sucks the fun out of wvw

I have thought this as well. The airshiP – cloak – fog are a pain, but two of them are SM only. There seems to be a way to disable the cloaking waters too (or it is just buggy). T1 meta is drop all sorts of trash food and siege around the tactivators to make them difficult to select.

The aura seems to be as big a problem with or without siege when trying to take – retake Garry on the bls. I’ve seen sides just give up when there isn’t even all that much siege involved…
