I get that it’s hard to make scoring fair when when some servers just have huge numbers of night-cappers. And that it’s annoying as hell when those servers run zergs of 30 when other servers are lucky to have 5 players on at that time. But what REALLY sh*ts me is when those massive zergs run with omegas too. Not only is that pathetic as hell but makes defending impossible. Please Anet, get rid of golems from night-capping. Or even better, get rid of them completely.

oh, forgot to mention that by building their golems they use all sups from our bdl, so we can’t build siege to defend against said golems. That’s fun too.

You can’t rip off other players wvw fun just because you and your servermate are sleeping. Think about if my play time is your night time, your play time could also be my night time so you shouldn’t able to night cap my world as well.

So what about you stay awake to play competitively? I wouldn’t mind that at all.

What is this mind set to make limitation based on your timezone while the game is accessable to every timezone. If your timezone daytime is restricted instead, are you also happy about it? Be considerate mate.

Night capping is the eotm equivalent ktrain, only players think they’re fighting doors shows all their realm pride. Golems are OP, but anything reset is just going to be flipped over and over, especially when everyone else sleeps, it’s been that way for years.

Competitively wvw is just a measurement of quantity, not quality or organization, so ppt only exists, because of the rankings and anyone who still believes all that matters is to ‘win’ at all costs for the realm, even to dodge any pvp, all that matters is to tick the highest and pvd. At least I miss defending stuff outnumbered, things are alot harder now though..

I think people are missing the point here. No-one’s saying don’t play whenever you want – but if golems are removed from play at times when some servers have 10 times as many players as others, then it’s more fun for everyone.

I think people are missing the point here. No-one’s saying don’t play whenever you want – but if golems are removed from play at times when some servers have 10 times as many players as others, then it’s more fun for everyone.

Not for the people who want to steamroll over a small fraction of their number while they karma train through mostly empty areas. And it’s those type of people who end up flooding to every thread with the term “night capping” in it, and rather than debating the merits of whatever idea gets proposed, immediately go into an indignant debate over the semantics of the terminology. When confronted with facts and logic they immediately play the persecuted victim to perfection.

And nothing ever gets resolved, and the problem of “timezone based population imbalance” continues wreaking havoc on any semblance of integrity the entire concept of a scoring system may have ever had. Resulting in strategists growing bored/frustrated and fading away, leading to mindless karma training and pointless blob fights in the middle of nowhere.

People act as though their entire culture has been deeply offended any time the word Nightcapping is uttered because it’s easier to feign offense than to lose a massive advantage in the field, total dominance of the scoring, ranks and tiers as well as all the gold those guild get from the various servers that buy them.

shrugs It’s not a new racket, and it’s not one that’ll go away any time soon.

Here’s the thing. Build 4-5 Omegas in lords before the night blob arrives. When they come with their golem hoard, jump in one and fire off rockets from the top of the keep walls.

They break in? Whirl and purée the non golem players into a bloody mess as they come through the breach.

It may not stop them, but you’ll have a blast melting the 11111 crowd.

And if all five of you jump in a golem? You might just be able to hold them off. Plus you will deny them supply if they do flip it.

Bonus points for server mate that spams shield generator on gate/wall/you as you nuke from above.
